"The business of busyness is torn apart in absurdist fashion by a fresh company aptly named the Sincere Muckabouts. Their work does indeed present as a series of muckabouts with sincere intentions," - Lyne Pringle (theatrereview.org.nz)

Some photos from our sold out San Fran gig a few weeks back ❤ Many thanks to those who came along, as well as Lauren Jack Ellen Murfitt Moyer Hayden Nickel Phoebe Johnson and Jake Baxendale Music for their brilliant musicianship, and Vaughn Low for taking dope pictures!
Several months ago I moved into a new flat, with an amazing flatmate called Oonagh. She gave me this old tape recorder that needed a little bit of fixing up, but was otherwise in great condition. During the first few days of lockdown I decided the time was right, bought some batteries and got it working. I’ve never had a convenient way to make quick recordings before (let alone something this fun), so my brain has been swarming with ideas on what to do with it. This is hopefully just the first of many projects using tape.
ABOUT THE PIECE:
During the latter half of 2020, three people very close to me all moved away from Wellington. Esti to the UK, Eliot to France, and Eliza to Australia. I noticed in the weeks and months after they left that I still felt the shadows of them around me. On the Webb Street lawn where we’d soak in the sun, at the bars we’d drink at, and even around the streets we’d walk down every day. It still felt like they were somehow there. I miss them all a lot, and so conceived this piece for them; one recorded piano representing the past, and one live piano representing the present.

Spent yesterday doing field recordings of water for an upcoming project. Or maybe just for fun! Who knows.
Hope everyone is making the most of their lockdown, or at least not going too crazy :)

Thanks for the shoutout from John Psathas! Come along to Bedlam and Squalor today at 5pm!
It’s Just seven days before Classical on Cuba brightens up the capital and we’ve got your guide on what to see first! 🎺 See what our friend and Wellington Composer John Psathas had to recommend:
“Classical on Cuba immediately became one of the great Wellington convergences of awesome musicians, audiences, and venues. What a feast! And what a great line-up of unconventional locations to hear all this great music. My top picks (impossible to narrow it down to three!) are Double Shot, Lotus Duo, Marty G, Duo Tapas, 9Live, Kowhaiwhai Duo, and Ensemble Go (a Piazzolla binge!).” — John, Psathas.
So what are you waiting for, book your classical crawls now: www.classicaloncuba.co.nz
