Got a pair of Lister air cleaners in today for a total refurbishment.
The state of the filters just shows why it's important to change the filters at every service point rather then just turning the filter around.

These filter housing's will be sanded back too the steel and a fresh coat of anti corrosive primer applied, along with a nice coat of Craft master engine enamel, black for the outside and a nice PostBox red for the insides.

Needless to say, these housing's will be supplied back to the client with fresh filters.

Currently on our books is this very poorly Lister HW2M twin cylinder marine propultion engine fitted in a 72ft traditional narrow boat.

Client called asking us for advice after being told the engine was scrap and it would need too be replaced.

We went too view the engine and to offer further advice and diagnosis as well as a repair quote.

The engine when first viewed ran fine with only mild smoke out the exhaust, not uncommon for a traditional engine such as this HW2m, However, what became apparent was the thickness of the oil that had turned to sludge in the engines top and bottom ends, We tried flushing it several times but to no avail, the oil had turned to grease, In the end the only option was too strip the engine down and give it a good clean by hand, all work was carried out onsite without having too remove the engine from the vessel.

Injector were refurbished and refitted, in total the engines guts were in good condition, bearings weren't worn but were 010 oversize, cylinders were 020 oversize, having being rebuilt previously.

Stay tuned on this one as we are part way through reassembling this unit.

Finished the HR3 industrial engine I had in for an overhaul.
Took a while with this one because it suffered major damage to its crankshaft but one very happy client waiting for her to return home.

Very happy myself with this one.

Lister STW2 - Painting cylinder head 1 31/10/2022

New video up now on The Lister Diesel Workshop.

This video covers painting and prepping of the Cylinder head and a couple other parts for the STW2 rebuild.
I got fed up with the green paint not curing right so decided to change the colour to graphite gray, Looks much better, after talking to my supplier it looks like it might have been a bad tin of paint, so after much thought I am sticking with the gray, I really think it looks much better.
Enjoy everyone, remember every like and subscription really helps the channel grow so please feel free to smash that like button and please note LDW will always and forever be free to all who view it, no signups no paid for content just good old fashion entertainment, at my cost of course as all these videos are self funded via my full time day job.

Lister Diesel Workshop's next engine build is in.
Over the next several weeks we will be refurbishing this Lister HRW3 marine from the ground up, as is with all our rebuilds and restorations, crankshafts are checked and ground, new bearing shells fitted, Cylinders are checked and re-bored to suit the next available size pistons and rings, the cylinder heads are rebuilt with new valves, and have the valve seats recut to take hardened valve seat inserts fitted, valve guides are replaced with new to suit guides, all the injection equipment is shipped out to our friends at CJ Diesels in London for refurbishment.
The HRW3 has a Blackstone 2G 2.1 gearbox as standard, this was removed prior to us receiving the engine, However we have a good stock of Blackstone gearboxes in all three reductions to suit most applications.
This engine is being built for a privet client, however, we regularly get marine engines in from our "Core Stock" and we can recondition these to suit application.

HRW3 engines complete with alternator and electric start retail for £4760 plus shipping and one year warranty.

All progress will be found on our page and on our YouTube page.
