While I am enjoying the new challenge of slinging tees, socks, and hoodies at the expos...after a long day in the booth my eyes are filled with gratitude.

But fter a long day supporting athletes, my eyes are filled with tears! God dam it I'm a lucky man!

Super congratulations to , , and especially Richard, A.K.A Big Daddy Kane. This marks the end of a long journey for us that began nearly a decade ago. We knew the dream would end right here on Ali Drive. What an honor it was to see you run down this historic stretch of road, no doubt with your brother, right on your shoulder. I'm certain he's looking downfrom heaven above with eyes full of happy tears for you! Chapeau my friend!!!! I'll never forget this moment we shared!

Here at we build character not egos. We stress balance, patience, and gratitude. Over the past 2 months I reckon we covered all these bases with these 2 πŸ˜‰.

I couldn't be more proud of the efforts they put forth yesterday at the Boulder 70.3. At just 20 years old A.K.A Junior learned the hard way that patience is a virtue in long distance triathlon racing. Nonetheless he held on to finish 2nd place in the 18-24 year age division...πŸ‘Š

All the while teammate
A.K.A. Mollie Muscles or M &M continues her climb up the ranks of the finishing 4th overall.

This caps the end of summer training camp for JR as he heads home to San Diego to join teammate while continuing to pursue his college degree.

M&M is not so lucky as she gets to suffer through a few more weeks of suffering up high in Park City...

πŸ‘ to you both for surviving your first full summer camp all the while putting up with sharing a house with Skippy and I πŸ˜…...

Thank you as always to all our team partners!

Onwards and upwards we all go together!

Shortly after this picture was taken I recall debating with Mr. that this day was not about any of us pictured but rather the was formed for the generations to come.

As I sat and watched our organizations very 1st Canadian Open Championship event this weekend, just 2 of the 8 athletes here were on the start line πŸ˜‰...It's been a long journey that started nearly a decade ago, at a meeting in Bahrain...but finally I believe the PTO has arrived on the world stage and I couldn't be more proud of every single person that put their hand up willing to help get this organization get off the ground!

I hope you all watched this weekends racing and tonight your hearts are filled with gratitude and love after watching the emotion pour out of this generation of athletes ....

Tony and I went for a ride up the mountain today...the view was worth the effort and the descent made for a good time!

Twinkle Twinkle, you're nearly a star....

came into our lives a few years ago, a then pure runner with big aspirations in the sport of triathlon. He had just jumped into the deep of the ocean and was quickly drifting out to sea when his new friend threw him a life boat which was and I.

Much like the Doc once told me, I told him he needed 3 years to develop both physically and mentally in order to become a working a pro. At the start of the year Twinkle Twinkle nearly threw in the towel as the pressure was mounting with a baby on the way and too many bad luck events in races, he was starting to ponder if the grind was really worth it.

It took some convincing but I assured him that the really tough months and years were now past and that he was on the cusp of breaking through.

Yesterday afternoon, less than 2 weeks after the birth of his daughter Lucia with a move to a new apartment to further complicate matters, Twinkle Toes broke through when perhaps he least expected to 5th place and first Swiss athlete 70.3.

Adriano we couldn't be more proud of you! We always believed you were going to break through but yesterday you proved to yourself how far you have come both physically and mentally. While there is still plenty of work ahead on deck, the ship has sailed and you are safely aboard.

Do not be fooled, there will still be rough waters ahead but the journey will provide plenty of opportunities to bask in the sunshine like you did yesterday.

Cheers to you, your , your wonderful partner , and your beautiful baby girl!

Please meet Tony, lovingly named after my late Granfather who passed just over a year ago.

I have been struggling to come up with a name for this beauty but suddenly this evening while climbing a mountain on single track switch back trails, all by myself, completely out of my comfort zone...I suddenly felt the presence of Grandpa De. It was if he was riding next to me telling me to keep going, keep climbing, keep exploring, see what's around the next turn and the next and the next.

Grandpa De up until the last time and I saw him, was always encouraging us to keep exploring, to keep living our best lives as long as we could.

Grandpa De, who's parents immigrated to America from ITALY, served his country in the U.S. Army then worked for over 30 years at a factory in Newark, NJ so his 2 boys, my father Bob and his brother Anthony could live their best lives. As a result, all 4 of his Grandchildren are living their best lives.

πŸ™Tony for giving us all the gift of life! Today I took you on a bike ride that was a little different from the streets of Newark. The 3 moose we whizzed past at mid mtn were as impressive as the Emprie State Building.....

Park City for summer...For much of my career I watched my mentor drag his family around the world from training camp to training camp so that his athletes would have the opportunity to get the most out of their time in our sport.

and I chose to live in San Diego because it covers nearly every base that provides a world class training environment for the sport of triathlon. However, during the summer months, which are the most important and focused months of the year, as the doc taught us, we head for the hills.

So, here we are, not for us but for our development athletes. It's no longer a secret that Carrie's career is on hold while we race towards a different kind of finish line πŸ˜‰. , , , we await your arrival.

If you're a development athlete or you know one who has aspirations of reachimg the pinkle of our sport...our door is open but understand this, our #1 rule is, we don't sell sh sandwiches πŸ˜‰

Late last year I was at neighbor Gerrys house for a Christmas party. This is where I first met neighbor Dennis, far right. As luck would have it, I was paired to play a round of golf the very next day with these 3 at our local course .

After our round, Chris, Dennis, and Frank asked me to join there weekly three-some....we've played together nearly every Monday since, yuking it up every time!

Golf is amazing game that brings people together and some times forms relationships that last a life time. If it wasn't for the game, I might have never gotten to know these great neighbors who I now call friends....

I'm gonna miss you guys while away for summer! Thank you for taking me into your group and try not to replace me while away πŸ˜…...I'll be chipping and sliding the nights away, way up high where the rich and famous go to play πŸ™πŸ‘Š...

There are plenty of days in which I think my life's work is not honorable or perhaps lacks meaning. Then, I have days like this... when a long-time athlete who over time has become a friend and now family.

Last week, I drove south of the border to Valle de Guadalupe, where I was so humbly honored and blessed to become the Godfather of young Daniel.

To my new Compadre and Comadre, and .ceballos, thank you for your trust in me! ! I will not let you down!

Yesterday morning I took a ride down memory lane back to 2010 and my very first experience. Coming off my very first podium at Alpe d' Huez, the Doc sent a group of us to tackle the Le Mythe. The race organizer was kind enough to give us a room high above Embrun in this ski village, Les Orres. , , and I stayed in this hotel, see picture #2

These few weeks and this race in particular changed my life forever. The lessons learned, the perspective that was introduced, and the success in these races combined with the money earned gave me the belief and courage to push on with my journey as a Professional triathlete.

But more importantly, these few weeks, and this race really made me fall in love with riding my bike and racing it over the iron distance.

Today was the first time I have been back to les Orres since 2010 as nowadays Gerald is kind enough to offer accommodation a bit closer to town. Every year we have returned to Embrun I have wanted to climb this mountain for the sole purpose of revisiting the memories of that magical summer of 2010.

Thank you Embrun for taking me back in time! What a magical spot this place is!!!

That's a wrap Park City. You've blown our minds more times over the last few months than we could count. From your beauty, to your wildlife, to the roads, the climbs, the weather, the people, your freedom, and of course your golf courses. Your little town is a slice of paradise, don't let the transplant's ruin it!

An unexpected but welcomed trip to Swiss is on deck. See you next time P.C. and thank you for hospitality, we'll be back that's for certain!

Anyone who has tried to coach their significant other knows, it's not the easiest task in world. Somehow, someway and I have figured out how to get the best out of each other.

Back in early March she was unfit and down in the dumps after getting her arse kicked at She got a stern, yet loving πŸ™‚talking to, and then we went old school.

The final chapter of her career was on the line and I asked her to trust me for the next 12 weeks like she never has before. Each week I wrote her week's training out on Sunday evenings just like Coach Watts .watts.35728 and used to do for me.

I took all the lessons from the both of them combined with lessons learned from and . Then let my instincts and her feedback make the necessary adjustments required based on the day to day observation. Not one swim or run split was written down and she certainly didn't load a bike power profile. She simply showed up everyday, looked at the training, executed it as best she could, and then moved into the next day.

On Sunday she once again became an Ironman Champion for the 13th time πŸ€”. This effort should all but secure her place in this first annual bit more importantly, she is now in a position to put the finishing touches on her career they way she dreamt of doing before Covid took a year away from the world.

Before the race I told her that no matter what happened, this was our best work of art together!, Trust me there plenty of tough days and a few sleeplessness nights for the Chief πŸ˜‰.

Cazzie, thank you for trusting me! We kept it simple and accomplished the mission. You've made me a better coach and more importantly a better husband this past 3 months. Now go tick a few more boxes while you're in the purple patch!

Much of America is made of small towns like this. What the costal elites either don't comprehend or don't care, I'm not sure which is worse πŸ€”, is that in these small towns, the people find their own way. The only thing they ask of the government is to stay the hell out of the way so they can go about their business!

Middle American is the heart, soul, and engine of this country. As we take the "Long weekend πŸ˜‰" I mean as we take the time to honor those brave men and women who have died for this country so that we could continue to live the way we do, we should also recognize that many of these brave soldiers left small town just like this one to defend our freedom.

America is at a pivotal point in our Nations history! The last 4 months have proven to the world that the current administration is not the party of JFK or the Clintons! They aren't liberals, they are Leftist Marxists who pretended to be liberal in order to gain power. If you don't believe me then you are not paying attention to what is happening to this country.

But don't let your heart be troubled because there's over 100 million of us who are paying attention who do not want our soldier's deaths to be in vain...

Happy Memorial Day weekend and thank you to all those living and dead for the sacrifices you have made, not just for our great Nation but for the whole goddamn 🌎....

"Behind every successful man, there is a strong woman" Cheers to and his strong lady Amy who helped guide him on his journey through the the fire academy!

Nearly half way through what will prove to be one of the s**ttiest year of the century, you both have given some of us inspiration and reason to finally say Cheers! πŸ‘πŸ‘ŠπŸ™

The Doc, always told me I'd one day make a better coach then athlete. The fire still burns from time to time as it did on Saturday as I watched so many amazing duke out in St. George. When I get the itch, I look in the mirror and smack myself as I'm an old man now and better served serving others πŸ˜‰.

Thanks to for catching this pic of me tracking athletes in between stops to cheer!

Legend has it, the Doc would wear a tuxedo to the races back in the 90s, I wear my hats. Every day I am striving to not only be as good as he is but I pass on to my athletes those little nuggets of gold he shared me through the years!

It's that time of year again, Mt.Palomar on repeat. For the next two months we'll be out here twice a week. This mountain is the reason we live in San Diego, it has prepped and I for our Swiss summers for the past 5 years, it will help her become a Champion once again in 2021 and it's the place I will bring future athletes in the years to come so they too can become Champions.

Well, that didn't go as planned... what a s**t show of a year 2020 has been! I know I'm not alone in feeling like there have been more frowns then smiles this year. So many of us have had to deal with set backs, disapointment, and heart ache. Many have lost friends, family, loved ones, role models, and heros. Some say this is the worst year in modern American history?

A this point in the pandemic, we all probably miss a thing or two that makes us feel alive. For me, it's live music. At nearly 41 years old, on the eve of my Golden Years, I simply love to be entertained by live musicians.

I"m a firm believer that eveything happens for a reason and while I am so sad to have never had the opportunity to see Mr. in concert, he was called up to Heaven for bigger and better things and when I get to heaven, Mr Prine, I hope to share a vodka and ginger ale at The Tree of Forgiveness with you πŸ™

John was one of the great's who had this ability to tell a story through his lyrics that most can feel but are unable to express themselves.

While 2020 had more rain showers with not many rainbows at the end, one bright moment for me was August 30, the day I married my best friend

While there are many songs John has written that bring a cheeky grin and tears to my eyes, "In Spite of Ourselves" sums up Cazzie and I's relationship, I've coined it as our theme song. Who ever passes first, I would like this song played at the end of any memorial that is held.

"She's my baby and I'm her honey, I'm never gonna let her go"
"He's my baby and I'm his honey, I'm neve gonna let him go"
"In Spite of Ourselves, we'll end up sittin on a rainbow, against all odds, honey we're the big door prize"

Happy New Year Friends and Family! While we all hope the worst is over, it appears we are still in the middle of the eye of the storm.

Hang on, the next few months may be rough but spring will eventually arrive and perhaps by then, the worst will be over and a rainbow will be waiting for us all to be sitting on...

RIP John Prine, you're my hero that passed in 2020 😒

After a weekend full of new beginnings, new opportunities, and new friendships, there was also opportunities to reflect and revisit memories with old friends.

One such highlight was finally getting the chance to raise a glass and cheers with the Champ . Some of my greatest memories as an athlete are the years Nic and I trained alongside each other. If it wasn't for her I would never have had my breakout race at Ironman Swiss in 2012 and the doc would have retired me them. And perhaps I played a small role in helping her win the Gold in London 2012 πŸ€”πŸ˜‰.

Apparently when you win a gold medal in the Olympics, life is hectic for a little while hahaha and thus as life's twists and turns took us away from each other, we never had the chance to look each other in the eyes and say "Cheers, well done". Last night we finally had the chance.

Nic, you will always be known as the Champ in my mind! Not just because your champion athlete but because you're a Champion human being! Thank you for letting me play a part in yours and journey to Olympic Gold.

And thank you to for providing the platform that brought athletes, coaches, fans and industry folks from around the world together, despite many critics along the way. You proved that with proper measures taken, events can still go on while the world shakes off this Covid situation!

We can now slam the door on 2020 and look towards 2021 and beyond. πŸ™ Happy Birthday Professional Triathlon, December 6th will come to be known as your independence day!

No Shave November or Movember is coming to an end but this year I've decided to support and keep my beard for the winter months.

The reason I'm keeping the beard and supporting the guys at this year is 2 fold. 1st being I had too much going on earlier in the month to start movember. But 2nd and more importantly, is because they focus specifically on men's skin cancer awareness. These guys got me motivated to get my skin checked a few years ago. I was scared s**tless as if you know me I spend a ton of time in the sun and I'm not the biggest fan of the chemicals in sunscreen. Nonetheless, I found a great Dermatologist in Dr. Nash thanks to my man πŸ™..

Last week I went in for my annual checkup Dr. Nash felt it was time to remove the now suspect mole on my back, see 2nd pic. While these have all thankfully come back clear of the dreaded C word I'm thankful to the boys at Beardseason for giving me the nudge and for Dr Nash keeping me safe rather then sorry.

Check out my profile in the link if you are in a position to be able to contribute. And to all you men out there, go get your skin checked and if you can grow a mean beard, let it go...

"If You Can Dream It, You Can Do It!"

That's my motto, I dream it, I think of it daily, I live by it.

On the left is me at Ironman Florida 2012, my break through Ironman, 3rd overall by 3mins and change. That day I told my father at the finish that I could retire a happy man.

On the right is at today, her first overall age group win. If she had been in the pro field, perhaps a top 10...

Brittany came to me thanks to the great back in 2014 πŸ™. We had no idea how far she could go nor could we, at the time, imagine how close we would become. But one thing stood out to me that continues to stand out as the months and years tick by, we believe in each other, and that's when the magic happens, when athlete and coach believe in each other.

Today, I think Brittany lived her dream. While this journey ends today, her performance suddenly launched a new journey, a pursuit to race at the next level, as a journey woman professional triathlete. While she needs another 12 months to develop, today B proved to herself that she is can and will race against the best.

Thank you B for inspiring me to continue my own journey to become one of the best coaches on the world!

21/10/2020

It's so good to see human beings finally being able to get back to doing what they love!

I often kid with B that I want a squad full of B's. She turns up everyday, never whinges, always smiles, and always gives her best.

Sunday was no different, finally back racing after a year long off-season at 70.3 AZ. After months of unknowns, grinding everyday for love of the sport, all the while her partner, was deployed, serving our great nation πŸ™.

3rd overall with a flat tire that cost her the win but who cares, B, B you have a healthy relationship with our sport of triathlon and that's most important!

The future has arrived for me. Track Tuesday is slowly becoming my favorite day of the week. For the past 25 years of my life, some of the best coaches in the world have been there for me on the side of the track, on the pool deck , or on the side of the road as I rode by, working on my dream.

I've turned a new chapter in my book of life, putting my athletes goals and dreams in front of my own. Post covid I am now transitioning into more of a location based or on deck coach, fitting my own training around the teams sessions.

To all my athletes both location based and virtual, thank you for trusting me with your dreams! You'll perhaps never fully appreciate how much your trust in me, means to me!

To all the coaches that have influenced me throughout my life, , , Dr. Jack Daniel's, , , , , , ...I will forever be indebted to the knowledge and experience you shared with me. I thank and love you all πŸ™!
Coach Watts said it best, "You outta have to pay to run on a day like today"

If you're a runner then you know, if you're not, then you don't. For those of us that run, we may not fully understand but someone we feel that running is how we process our thoughts and feeling, thus how we ultimately express ourselves.

This is and for the past 6 months, his running has helped him navigate his way through the s**ttiest year we call 2020. Today Fast Pat won a marathon, like a real life race, not some B.S. virtual event. He toed the line with who ever showed up and after 2 hours and 31 mins he covered the 26.2 miles in Billings, MT faster then anyone else on the day. Today you're the champ Pat and I couldn't be more proud of you!

Keep on keepin it simple my friend and you're going to get to through this strom we call Covid 19 just fine!!!

These 2 brave souls in and stepped up Saturday afternoon bringing family and friends together to witness their wedding day despite the state of the world we are all currently navigating our way through. It wasn't the day they originally dreamt of but perhaps it turned out to be even more special then they ever imagined.

On a day in which the forecast called for torrential storms, which seemed to be delivered everywhere around us but perhaps God cleared the skies around their beautiful little home so that human beings could sing, dance, cry, and quite frankly feel alive for the first time in months. There is no doubt that everyone who was lucky enough to be there will never forget that special afternoon in Central New Jersey!

and I left Dave and Maddie's wedding day feeling so inspired and full of love that we decided there was no better time then the present for us to begin our journey together and hopefully spread a little more joy to the world at a time in history when we all could use some.

Two years ago we took my parents to Deauville Beach, France to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary. Yesterday 8-30-20, on National Beach Day, my father, Poppy De, married two more souls who were born on opposite sides of the planet but somehow 8 years ago along the sandy beaches of the Sunshine Coast of Australia, found each other.

To paraphrase Father Kotch who married Dave & Maddie, "Our fundamental purpose as a married couple is to now walk each other to heaven"

If you don't believe there is life after death, please take a moment to appreciate the last picture. Mother Ocean provided the alter for two best friends to begin their journey towards heaven surrounded by friends, family, and neighbors along the sandy beaches of the Jersey Shore...

These aren't normal times we are currently living through so to those family and friends who weren't with us, please understand that you were in our hearts. We will take the time to have small celebrations with you all either virtually or somewhere else further on up the road.
XO
Scottie and Carrie De

They call this place 'Little Hawaii', we call it home . Our first complete summer is winding down here in Sunny Socal and I will admit, it was pretty average up until the last week. Most days were grey along the coast, the ocean was cold, and the waves were flat.

This is typically the time of year we would be returning home from our home away from home in Switzerland, I typically kid that summer had just begun. Like clockwork, Socal weather and waves are once again showing off and now we can look forward to the next 3 months of warm weather, a warm ocean, and hopefully a continuation of South Swells rolling through...

August 1st, Happy Birthday Switzerland! Lucky for us we have great friends in the Shore's (best dressed) and the Vandecasteeles's (Belgium expats who love a Raclette) who joined us to celebrate yesterday afternoon.

Having spent the last decade of summers in my beloved village of Leysin, it feels strange not to have been there this past weekend. Like most of us are experiencing, 2020 is not the new normal, it's completely disrupted life as we know it.

Even though sad not to have been singing and dancing at the local party in the village, we tried our best to have a not so sunny socal Swiss Day. It turned into a wonderful evening of introduction and celeration of the two new lads in Jax and Jackson that have blessed this world in the past few months.

To our second homeland of Switzerland, we love and miss you! WeI yearn for the site of your snow capped mountains, we miss your evening thunderstorms, we even miss the smell of cow p**p fertilizer, I really miss my little goat friends that I visit every evening run.

Your people are the most common sensed individuals on the planet, thus in my opinion makes you the most intelligent. Last night we not only tried our best to honor you and your traditions but we also honored the late owner of our home, Joan Pecchia, who happened to be Swiss.

To our Swiss friends and families, one thing Covid 19 has illustrated, we most definitely have become part Swiss 🀣. Miss and love you too! Hopefully next summer we can return to see you all! XO

Introducing 'Night Rider', this my soul board. He will help me get into waves early, teach me to ride low and make big turns. But most importantly, help me keep up with the Groms on the reef.

When I turned 40 earlier this year I made a promise to myself that I would master surfing before my 50th birthday, reason being, my golden years will be lot happier if this craft is mastered.

Little did I know on this momentous day in my life that a global pandemic was on the horizon which would clear the calendar of any racing ambitions, thus pushing my decade mission forward.

After nearly 20 years of putting surfing on the shelf to pursue professional sport, I am embracing the pursuit of chasing waves. However, I don't jive with getting up at bull sh o'clock for training or surfing, I much rather a sunset session!

Thanks to for creating such a magical stick! I can't walk down the street without someone asking if they can check out Night Rider πŸ€™....
