MY STORY
Curt was born in Santa Paula, California. At a young age, he moved to Cedar Hill, New Mexico with his parents and two of his siblings. They bought a general store and a small farm settling in to a farming community with many great neighbors.
He began drawing as a youth and continued his interest in art during high school. In 1964, he moved back to Santa Paula with his parents where they lived a few years before they decided to return to New Mexico. While in California, he completed his senior year at Santa Paula High School and concentrated on his art, winning awards in advanced oils and watercolors.
In 2007, after retiring from a long and successful career in the financial sector of a major engineering and construction company, he returned to his art specializing in oil painting while studying advanced painting at San Juan College in Farmington, New Mexico. He credits his former Art Instructor, Professor William V. Hatch, for restoring his desire to paint.
His first body of work that he calls the “Mountain Series” depicts dramatic landscapes found in the San Juan Mountains of southwestern Colorado where he enjoyed hunting and fishing as a boy. The results are beautiful scenic works of art that illustrate his unique style and skill with color and composition. In addition to his main body of work, he has completed a series of small paintings that he calls “Floral Designs”. He also paints other scenes of interest, including dramatic and colorful skies. Curt and his wife Susan reside in Flora Vista, New Mexico.
