"In 2023, I received a grant from the Seniors’ Secretariat in Prince Edward Island (PEI) to share an 8-week yoga for self-care program for hospice volunteers like myself. In working through the details of offering such a program, I knew I wanted to share yoga that was accessible for all bodies, fun, and free of charge to participants. My program met all of the funder’s goals, which included promoting positive images of aging, supporting injury prevention, and addressing social isolation, as well as my own." - Joanne Hader, MA, RYT-500, C-IAYT

“It is a pleasure to share with you that IIYT is the FIRST fully accredited yoga therapy certification program in the USA to receive Qualified Healthcare Practitioner (QHP) accreditation.

The IIYT Foundations of Therapeutic Yoga for Health Care Providers program offers the health care provider a foundational understanding of therapeutic yoga as an implementation pathway and as a referral platform.

Already working within their health care environments, the interested health care provider is well-positioned, informed, and experienced in the academic rigor and applications of techniques supported by scholarly evidence, foundational learning, and practicum experience.

With this in mind, the graduate can recognize the role, benefits, value, and virtue of therapeutic yoga specific to the health care environments in which they work.

Please visit www.iiyogatherapy.com to learn more about all IIYT programs, the IIYT Symposium on Clinical Advancements in Yoga Therapy and Research taking place in Detroit, MI on January 17-19, 2025.”

Day 2 of SYTAR began with invigorating and spiritually grounding practices, paving the way for a day rich in learning and community connection.

Keynote speaker Dr. Ganesh Mohan offered a historical lens of how Krishnamacharya's vision and dream of yoga spreading worldwide is taking root. Dr. Mohan's presentation, "Yoga Therapy: From Tradition to the Future in the 21st Century," explored the key elements of tradition, science, and application needed to ensure the widespread adoption of yoga therapy as a healing practice.

In the general session, Chanda Williams, PhD, E-RYT 500, C-IAYT offered the audience an overview of research findings, best practices, and real-world examples to inspire collaboration and action to promote equity in the context of integrative health. Heather Mason, MA, MSc, MA, RYT-500, C-IAYT explored the psychological training needs of yoga therapists and detailed how the integration of yoga therapy and psychotherapy stands to provide a more comprehensive intervention to clients.

In the afternoon, concurrent sessions explored trauma-responsive yoga therapy in active war zoon, navigating grief, vayus as a framework, exploring power and privilege in the space we hold, experiential anatomy and movement, and more!

🩻 Can you believe that spine is that of a yoga teacher’s? Yes, that’s me, Lisa Madden, with 2 curves around 38 degrees each.

And to think the military wouldn’t accept me into ROTC in the 80’s because they thought I’d have physical issues and end up on disability. 🤷‍♀️😄
