Parents, here is your back-to-school checklist to combat wokeism at your child's school 20/08/2022

As a candidate for Catawba County School Board, I encourage parents, students, and faculty to communicate any concerns about critical race theory or any woke ideology being promoted in our schools. We need to get back to COMMON SENSE EDUCATION and stop socially conditioning our kids with woke and socialist ideas.

Parents, here is your back-to-school checklist to combat wokeism at your child's school School is back: Here are three key tools parents can use to battle wokeism in their child's education. Teachers are supposed to educate, not indoctrinate.

It was an honor to ride in the Old Soldier's Reunion parade on Thursday with so many of our military service men and retired veterans. Thank you so much to our veterans and their families for their many sacrifices.

20/08/2022

I want to give a big thank you to a wonderful veteran, friend, and brother in the Lord, Jimmy Barber, who gave me a ride in his cool, convertible BMW through the Old Soldier's Reunion parade. Thank you, Jimmy, for your service to our nation and to our Lord Jesus Christ!

The Old Soldier's Reunion parade was a blast yesterday. I got to meet so many great, like-minded people that were supportive of my conservative stands. Many in Catawba County are concerned about the direction of our education system and were glad to see someone willing to be a voice for them on the Catawba County School Board. I look forward to serving you.
Vote Steve Morgan for Catawba County School Board on November 8th.

I got to meet a lot of great, conservative Christians from the Catawba County School System at the Old Soldier's Reunion today. I love to see the unity of heart and mind of God's people here in Catawba County. I believe God's going to do great things in our school system as we unite under His leadership.

8/14/22 11am: City of Newton, NC Government’s Old Soldiers Reunion Festival Events:

Update: Tonight (8/15/22) Gospel music has been canceled due to the forecast of rain and potentially some severe weather

Since I’ve had several people ask about details of this week’s event, I’ll post the following statement from Ralph Yerby Ray, who is co-chairman of the Soldiers Reunion Committee .

Reunion will kick off Sunday, August 14, following earlier beauty pageants. Events continue through Reunion Day on Thursday, August 18, the traditional “third Thursday of August” date that has reigned since the 19th century. The showcase Soldiers Reunion parade will take place that day.
The Soldiers Reunion observance in Newton is believed to be one of the longest running patriotic celebrations in the United States not based on a holiday. The tradition began in Newton, the county-seat city, on July 4, 1889. The gathering on Court Square led to annual veterans’ reunions, starting the popular patriotic event then called Old Soldiers Reunion.
Now, the celebration offers a variety of events for veterans and the community to enjoy, many of which are still centered around the iconic 1924 Courthouse Square.
The week begins with the Cruisin’ Car Show on Sunday, August 14. Vintage cars and trucks from across the decades up to 1972 will be on display beginning at 2:30 p.m. The classic vehicles will cruise city streets starting at 6:30 p.m.
Concerts entertain the crowds on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday beginning at 7:30 p.m. on The Square. Gospel music fills the air August 15, beach music gets everybody moving on August 16, and plans are in motion for a country music concert on August 17.
The late afternoon Baby Parade takes place Wednesday, August 17, on the east side of The Square, when youngsters are judged based on their patriotic costumes and decorated conveyances. Winners are selected in various age categories.
The week peaks on Thursday, known as Reunion Day. Events begin at around 9 a.m. as artists, craftsmen, local businesses and food vendors set up around the Courthouse Square. A 10 a.m. memorial service on the west side of The Square is followed by a jazz concert running from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. The American Legion hosts a midday fish fry at its headquarters for veterans.
At 4 p.m. the official Reunion ceremony begins on the east side of The Square, when a guest speaker delivers a keynote-address and the beauty pageant winners are introduced.
The anticipated Soldiers Reunion Parade immediately follows the ceremony, and the keynote speaker typically serves as the grand marshal, leading the parade on a one-mile route through downtown Newton.
“We are seeking volunteers to help with all of our events. There is an opportunity for everyone and we would love to see the community respond like the men and women of Catawba County did over the last two centuries when they were needed.”
There are opportunities for scout troops, car clubs, veteran organizations, community groups and good citizens to volunteer and help honor our veterans.

I want to thank everyone who has liked and began following my page.
Some of you are long-time friends and some of you haven’t met me before. To those who don’t know me, I thought I’d share a little about who I am.
I was born and raised in Catawba County. I graduated from Newton-Conover High School in 1991. I married my lovely wife in 1994, and we’re getting ready to celebrate our 28th wedding anniversary. We have raised three fantastic children. Our oldest son is a public school teacher, our daughter is in college studying to be an elementary school teacher, and our youngest son just graduated with his electrical systems technology degree and is apprenticing under a licensed electrician. In a couple years he plans to get his own electrician’s license.
While our children were young, I was able to serve in different capacities within the church and community. Now that our children are grown, I want to give back to my community by serving on the Catawba County School Board.
I’m a faithful, dedicated worker. I’ve worked for the same company for over 25 yrs. I’ve done a variety of things and served on several teams, one being a people development team. I’ve also led Sunday School and various small group studies. I have experience leading, and I am used to serving and representing people who count on me. I hope you will be one of those who will count on me, and will vote for me to serve on the Catawba County School Board.

In the coming days, I will share more about why I decided to run and how I stand on the issues of today. I look forward to serving you and your family on the Catawba County School Board.
