THE RECENT COURT JUDGEMENT ORDERING FRESH APC PRIMARY ELECTION IN JALINGO I STATE CONSTITUENCY OF TARABA STATE HOUSE OF ASSEMBLY VINDICATED HONOURABLE NASIRU AUDU BABA AS A TRUE DEMOCRAT

We in the Media Team of our democratic-minded Aspirant of Taraba State House of Assembly for Jalingo I State Constituency, Honourable Nasiru Audu Baba are profoundly thankful to God for granting our aspirant a well-deserved victory in the court and our teeming supporters for their prayers and best wishes throughout the period that the litigation lasted.

We are also particularly pleased that in the landmark judgement delivered on Tuesday, 20th Day of September, 2022, the Jalingo Judicial Division of the Federal HighCourt of Nigeria lived up to its responsibility of serving justice without fear or favour by upholding and defending truth while dismissing falsehood through these words as quoted below;

“That the nomination or selection of the 2nd Defendant (Hon. Abubakar Maidala-Ilu Yahuza) as the candidate of the 1st Defendant (All Progressive Congress) for the Jalingo 1, State House of Assembly in the 2023, General Elections is invalid and is hereby set aside".

“That the 1st Defendant (All Progressive Congress) shall within 14 days from the date of this Order conduct a fresh House of Assembly Primary Election for Jalingo I Constituency of Taraba State, ensuring compliance with the provisions of the Electoral Act and its Guidelines and Constitution,"......

By virtue of this fair judgement, the APC HAVE NO CANDIDATE for Jalingo I Constituency for now until the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party conducted a succesfull Primary Election that led to the emergence of a duly elected candidate in line with the provisions of the 2022 Electoral Act.

We may all recall that in a previous write-up titled; “NON-CONDUCT OF APC PRIMARY ELECTIONS IN TARABA STATE: A POSITION PAPER BY THE MEDIA TEAM OF HONOURABLE NASIRU AUDU BABA", posted on 29th June, 2022, we in his media team demonstrated great respect to rule of law by arguing thus;

“As the general public is aware, the supposed primary election did not hold and the complains that followed its non-conduct are pending before the national working committee of the party, while litigations in that respect are pending before courts of competent jurisdiction.....Against this background, it is wrong, inappropriate, careless, disrespectful and unlawful for anyone among the aspirants to pronounce himself as the chosen candidate since no primary election was held in any of the five (5) wards of Jalingo I Constituency".

Therefore, the landmark judgement in favour of the complaint filed by Honourable Nasiru Audu Baba is a victory for democracy and rule of law which has vindicated our aspirant as a true democrat who is worthy for election as the Candidate of the party in the forthcoming Primary Election for Jalingo I Constituency of the State House of Assembly ahead the 2023 General Elections.

By keeping faith with the judiciary through the justifiable complaint he filed and for waiting patiently for the judiciary to do justice to the case, Honourable Nasiru has further showed that he is a law-abiding politician who can be trusted by his people in Jalingo I Constituency to represent them in the House of Assembly as their elected member in 2023.

In the same vein, the judiciary has practically shown its readiness to defend democracy, true democrats, rule of law and its integrity based on the merits of cases filed or brought before it as part of performing its noble duty as fair interpreter of the Law.

Likewise, members of the National Working Committee of the APC are distingushed personalities with proven record of integrity who are expected to respect the rule of law by responding and acting in accordance with this historic and landmark judgement of 20th September, 2022 by the Federal Highcourt of Nigeria, Jalingo Judicial Division.

Complying with the judgement is important in order to provide a credible process that would lead to the emergence of a credible and more popular APC candidate for Jalingo 1 Constituency that would gurantee the party's electoral victory in the 2023 House of Assembly Elections.

It is essential to understand that the main challenge for our growth and development is not insecurity but corruption, as corruption remains one of the primary sources of all evils.

Therefore, election rigging as a form of corruption, is worse than armed robbery. Those who have chosen to force themselves in positions of authority are most likely going to loot since they are guided by their instinct.

NON-CONDUCT of APC HOUSE OF ASSEMBLY PRIMARY ELECTIONS IN JALINGO 1 CONSTITUENCY: A POSITION PAPER BY THE MEDIA TEAM OF HONOURABLE NASIRU AUDU BABA

The Media Team of Honourable Nasiru Audu Baba wishes to draw the attention of its teeming supporters, all members of All Progressive Congress (APC) and the entire electorates in Jalingo I Constituency of Taraba State House of Assembly on some misleading pronouncements and actions of a particular aspirant among the aspirants that were supposed to contest the House of Assembly Primary Elections of the APC in Jalingo 1 State Constituency.

As the general public is aware, the supposed primary election did not hold and the complains that followed its non-conduct are pending before the national working committee of the party, while litigations in that respect are pending before the courts of competent jurisdiction.

Against this background, it is wrong, inappropriate, careless and disrespectful for anyone among the aspirants to pronounce himself as the chosen candidate since no primary election was held in any of the Five (5) Wards of Jalingo 1 State Constituency.

Morever, since INEC has warned all political parties from submitting names of candidates that are not elected through democratic process, it also means that these warnings extend to aspirants as well.

Therefore, all aspirants are expected to respect all matters pending before the courts of competent jurisdiction and resolutions of the national working committee of the party.

However, in clear disrespect to all these, the said aspirant shamelessly pronounced himself as the chosen candidate in complete disregard to pending complaints and directives of courts of competent jurisdiction.

Earlier on the eve of the primary elections that were not held, the same aspirant not only made spirited but futile attempts for the disqualification of our candidate by the screening commitee, but also vowed to oppose our candidate if he emerges or declared winner of the primaries even if it is through an acceptable democratic process.

All these actions or inactions of this apirant showed that he is, moreorless, a political desperado who do not have any respect for the rules of the game since the electoral law provided clear procedures in which an aspirant can be legally elected and returned as candidate of the party to contest a general election.

It is common knowledge to all, that the electoral law stipulated that an aspirant can ONLY emerge as the legitimate candidate of a party to contest a general election through a Primary Election that was conducted in line with the provisions of the electoral law.

Thus, the questions that easily comes to mind are these;
✓It is on what legal basis that this desperate aspirant became the candidate of the party since everybody knows that, no primary election was conducted in Taraba State on the date it was supposed to held (Friday, 26th May, 2022)?
✓Or does he have his own electoral law that is entirely different from the one that all Nigerians have?
✓Why is he afraid or impatient to allow all the complaints, litigations and other contending issues surrounding the non conduct of the primary elections in Jalingo 1 Constituency to be resolved first since he is aware of a pending complaint and a subsisting court order to that effect?

It is glaringly obvious that the desperation of the aspirant in question is due to the following;
✓ He knows deep inside him that he did not stand a chance of wining the Primary Election if it is conducted in line with the relevant provisions of the Electoral Law.
✓He knows very well that our candidate is a more credible, popular and acceptable aspirant in the eyes of the delegates whom he can easily lose to if the primary elections are conducted; hence, his desperation to brazenly claim victory in a contest that has not even taken place.

In view of all these issues, we deemed it necessary to observe and stress the following;
✓ The National Working Commitee of the APC should call this desperate aspirant to order as his desperate moves are increasingly portraying our party in the state in bad light.
✓All teeming supporters of our candidate, all delegates, all members of APC and indeed, the entire electorates in Jalingo 1 State House of Assembly Constituency should remain calm and ignore all cheap propaganda of falsehood being pathetically perpetrated by this desparate aspirant.
✓We are appealing to our teeming supporters to continue keeping their faith in our candidate as we are all hoping that he is going to be the next duly elected Member of Taraba State House of Assembly from Jalingo I State Constituency in 2023 by God's grace!!!

Mallam Nasiru Audu Baba: A New Down for Jalingo 1 Constituency

As the political cloud gathering momentum in the country for the 2023 general elections, many aspirants are indicating their interest to vie for elective positions. The emergence of Mallam Nasiru Audu Baba among those jostling for the seat at the Taraba State House of Assembly to represent the good people of Jalingo one constituency is a big relief to the constituents.

Jalingo one constituency is one of two constituencies in Jalingo, the Taraba State capital. They represent the administrative headquarters of Muri Emirate with heterogeneous people and large population. No doubt, Jalingo one constituency needs the likes of Mallam Nasiru as a representative.

THE MAN MALLAM NASIRU AUDU BABA
He was born on 3rd March, 1968 in Jalingo into the prestigious Maihanci family - a family known with intellectuals and politicians. Young Mallam Nasiru attended the Famous Hassan primary school in Jalingo from 1974 - 1980. He was at Ibi, Mayo Belwa and Zing from 1981-1986 for his secondary education. He proceeded to University of Maiduguri where he obtained a B.Sc. degree in Business Administration in1992.

In his quest for furthering education, Mallam Nasiru Audu Baba went to Bayero University, Kano where he obtained a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in 1998. He also attended various seminars, workshops and conferences within and outside Nigeria.

WORKING EXPERIENCE

Mallam Nasiru joined the service of Taraba state government as Personnel Officer II atTaraba State Local Government Service Commission Jalingo,(1994-1996), Personnel Officer I – Taraba State Local Government Service Commission Jalingo (1997-1998). He then transfered his service to Taraba State Investment and Properties Limited where he became Manager Investment Supervision (1998-2000), Senior Manager Supervision (2000-2003), Principal Manager Investment (2003-2008), Assistant General Manager Investment Taraba Investment and Properties Ltd (2008 to 2012) and Managing Director/CEO – Taraba Microfinance Bank Ltd in 2012.

He also served as Member Board of Directors Taraba Gas Co. Ltd (2008-2009) and Member Board of Directors Taraba Microfinance Bank Ltd in 2008.

MALLAM NASIRU AUDU BABA:
*The right man for the Right Job at the right time*

I remember one time i asked an elderly man about the type person we need to represent Jalingo 1 constituency, at the Taraba state house of assembly. Considering the fact that Jalingo 1 has always been battling with increase in unemployment, poor quality education/out of school children, insecurity, dilapidated economy and lack of a defined policy to solve such problems.

The elderly man smiled and said: He will tell me but it will be difficult for us to find such a person in a near future due pride, self-important and self-centered nature of some of our people.

He then added that most of the people contesting for governorship, senatorship and reps, supposed to contest membership in the state assembly for the betterment of the constituency.

He went further that Jalingo 1 would get a quality leadership if only we elect a man that has the following qualities:

1. Man that is of age (Matured person): Age and experience are very important factors in decision making. A man that is of age will find it easy to identify communal problems and solve them effectively. This because he already knows our homes, parents, streets, wards, and history. In addendum, age and experience will help him overcome the temptation to embezzle public funds.

2. A Residence of Jalingo: Do not vote for a candidate who stays off Jalingo metropolis, because, you won’t see him until elections time. Those kinds of people won’t care to listen to your impulse not to talk of assisting or proffering solutions.

3. A Retired civil servant: This is essentially good because most of the young men out there are after building mansions and buying exotic cars. That’s the reason they don’t sponsor bills and protect your interest even if need be. The highest thing they do is to turn you to data boys or hounds.

4. A man that is not hungry for money: Do not vote a candidate that is hungry for money. He would end up building himself by buying assets and stocking dollars in his own accounts. Later, you will see him claiming that people are envying his success. That’s why they don’t want to re-elect him.

5. A man that has the community at heart even before joining politics: community service is an indication that candidate has the community at heart and is readily available to serve in the best possible way. The constituent will find it easy to approach him and channel their problems. Else, you will be left with a man with “ I don’t care attitude “. He won’t be there at the time of needs to render help and assistance.

6. A knowledgeable person: We need someone who will improve our schools at all levels and categories. Only a learned person knows the value of education. He added that a man needs both western and religious education to treat everyone equally and to distinguish what is supposed to be off or on camera. He also stated that if you voted a man that is only knowledgeable in one angle, he would use the seat to enrich himself. And after the expiration of his tenure, he will kick against your collective interest to always be at the top.

After the elderly man listed above qualities, I asked him, what is the way out if we do not get a man decorated with such qualities? He replied with : keep searching, always keep hope alive. Keep pushing, there will always be a light at the end of the tunnel. He added that most of the candidates we are left to contend with currently aren’t our true lovers; they will use us to their own advantage. That’s the reason our representatives don’t make progress in the state assembly. He advised that we should keep praying, Allah will one day intervene.
