For Gemma’s special first birthday, I brought my unicorn modelling skills out of retirement to create these adorable toppers.
This two-tiered layer cake features a delicious vanilla layer and a zesty lemon layer—perfect for a party and a memorable first birthday. Bringing this colorful creation to life added so much joy to my kitchen!

Flourless chocolate cake for one of my beautiful regular cake clients…the theme was “bright and springlike” and was to celebrate an 11 and 93 year old at a family gathering.
The buttercream flowers were individually piped and frozen so they were easier to handle when arranging onto the cake.
My 9 year old loved this design so much when she saw it that she’s ordered it for her next birthday 😉

This cake featured 7 layers of vanilla bean sponge and took around 10-12 hours to make (I decorated it at break-neck speed to make it for my daughter’s party!)
The head was created using .uki Rice Krispies to keep the weight of it light, yet sturdy enough to mould and hold its shape whilst decorating.

Using the incredible online tutorial from , I’d recommend making it in stages - unlike me decorating it in one go! - and allowing sufficient drying time in between phases.
I am super pleased with how it turned out and, most importantly, it met my nine year old client’s stamp of approval 😅

This was most definitely a labour of love and I couldn’t have managed it so successfully without the expert tutorial of the genius that is 🫶🏽
My daughter was thrilled with it and the neighbours enjoyed the leftovers - there were loads!
