💎 Composite Bonding Transformation

Following a thorough consultation the patient and I agreed that the lateral incisors would be the focus of this bespoke treatment plan.

I took moulds of the teeth and created stone models. Once the model was created, I melted micro droplets of wax onto the stone model using a precision instrument. Once enough wax has been positioned the artistry of sculpting an improved and enhanced tooth begins.

This is called creating a ‘mock-up’ which I then share with the patient so they can see on their results BEFORE we proceed. This means my patients are always satisfied with their results and leave my office exceptionally happy.

The result is a completely natural, balanced smile from all angles. The irregularities of the lateral incisors have been totally disguised, offering a beautiful and confident smile 💙

This patient experienced significant gum recession, exposing the margins of the crowns.

Gum recession is gum tissue which has pulled away from the teeth, exposing the roots underneath. It's caused by a number of factors, including aggressive brushing, smoking and even genetics.

This case required a multidimensional approach with several techniques used to stabilised oral health and transform the smile.

Initially gum health was the main focus. Once this was stabilised, crowns were then replaced. Additionally some veneers were fitted achieving a vast improvement in colour, the alignment of teeth and the overall aesthetic.

Function and form are equals in treatment planning. Holistic care is key which means equal focus is given to the health and longevity of the smile as well as its overall look.

I used initially to place the teeth in their ideal positions to minimise any trimming of the natural teeth prior to veneer placement.

This patient’s teeth were already 90% in their ideal placement prior to meeting with Dr Sunny for the first time. Composite bonding was all that was required for this transformation.

Composite bonding resin has been strategically placed to disguise multiple imperfections including gaps, uneven edges, uneven tooth size and discolouration. The result is a quick, aesthetic restoration all completed in one pain free visit to Dr Sunny.

The first stage of bonding involves colour choice. This decision is jointly made between you and Dr Sunny, this can range from very natural to glam white. The colour is blended to your own teeth seamlessly.

The composite resin is then prepared and a bonding agent applied to the tooth. This creates a rough surface for the resin to strongly adhere to.

Next Dr Sunny applies resin in minute amounts, building and sculpting each edge and surface of the tooth by hand.

Finally it’s all cured with UV light. No drilling or tooth prep involved!

No-prep veneers are ultra thin porcelain which are adhered to teeth as a solution for cracked, chipped, discoloured or broken teeth. They also cover a wide variety of imperfections, such as worn down teeth, small gaps in-between teeth or misshapen teeth.

No-prep veneers are an alternative to veneers as they require a very minimal, if any, preparation (or filing) of the original teeth. They are suitable for people who’s teeth are already in ideal placements, such as after an Invisalign course.

No-prep veneers can be placed directly onto the teeth without temporary veneers, however a ‘try-in’ can be offered to showcase the final result before the adhering process takes place.

It’s a completely pain-free process, as there is little to no modifications made to the teeth, which means there is no sensitivity or pain after the procedure is over.

A day in the life of Dr Sunny 🎤 “My morning starts between 5 and 5.30am where I spend a couple of minutes practicing some mindfulness. I then check my calendars, to-do lists and schedules over coffee. I love my clinic days, they’re intense so I need to be as calm and as prepared as possible. I see patients 8am-7pm and it’s typical for a bonding case to take up most of the morning or afternoon. I’m really in the zone then, super focused on each step of the process as I’m sculpting each tooth.

If I’m lucky my nurse will grab me a tea mid morning. At lunch I quickly eat some meal-prep and then it’s checking Invisalign treatment plans, calling the lab discussing veneers and working on wax-ups.

Evening’s I’ll hit the sauna, eat a balanced meal, then meditate before an early night.”

To straighten teeth and improve smiles with Invisalign, a bespoke digitally designed treatment plan is required 💻

No two doctors will plan the exact same treatment so it is crucial that that you chose a doctor who is experienced and can discuss treatment options with you. Your ‘bite’ or where your teeth meet are individual to you. Moving teeth takes planning and careful consideration.

Your doctor will make individual digital tooth adjustments such as extrusion/intrusion, translation, rotation, crown angulation, root torque and crown tip.

🙌🏾 Straight off the chair following a morning with Dr Sunny 👨🏽‍⚕️ This wonderful patient sought Dr Sunny’s help after she had composite bonding on her teeth five years ago: it was time for an upgrade.

6 teeth had old composite on which had started to fade and stain resulting in a dull and lacklustre smile. You would be correct in thinking that composite bonding looks similar to veneers BUT there are some differences.

Bonding is made from a composite resin and it is shaped onto the unchanged tooth. Whereas veneers are made from porcelain and the tooth is minimally trimmed for the thin material to adhere to. Veneers are permanent and will need renewing on average every 10-15 years.

Bonding Design behind the scenes sneak peak… 👀
