Our Little Acre Farm
Mother and Daughter and our multigenerational Family learning to homestead on an acre.
Our Brownie girl is recovering well. ♥️🐐
Meet Roudy our new wether for our Brownie girl. Brownie was breed to early when we bought her and had a very traumatic birth and everything went wrong. We lost the baby and almost Brownie. She is now a week and a half out and recovering well. We are so thankful we didn’t loose her too.
Our little girl Brownie is in the last stages of labor. She is working so hard to birth her first baby. I keep praying she is safe and does well. We’ll update when we have a kid on the ground.
Confirmed the pregnancy of our younger doe Brownie! Due the end of February to early March and she’s carrying really low. We had no idea she was pregnant until she began bagging out.
Scroll for a curious giantess (our older doe Mocha who is massively pregnant)!

For dinner I made my Nonnies chicken spinach postina soup with lots of parmigiana. The really wonderful part it I used one of our chickens we processed a few weeks ago. I made the stock starting this morning first, it was so rich. Thankful for all the nutrient rich foods I can make our family.
Today I made lard from our two pigs leaf fat. Tomorrow I will do the fat from the rest of the pigs that isn’t going into sausages. After I strained the lard I was left with the cracklin. You just finish it off in a pan till crispy then add salt or flavoring. We opted for Tajin this round. Im pretty proud of todays work.
A FULL freezer! We have 10 more chickens and approximately 150 lbs of fresh, home grown pork! And that’s only two of our pigs! We are so blessed to live this life.

We butchered our pigs today. Valentin made the shot on the second after Paul showed him how on the first. He rocked it and was so proud. Moms hugs always reassure after a first try at something new. He now knows how to dispatch and process pigs, chickens and rabbits. He is such a valuable part of our farm. We all worked to get it done. Now it rest till tomorrow where we will section it out the rest. Paul is such a good leader for us when it comes to this part of farm life and he never shys away. Katelyn gets right in next to him and they work so hard together. I love watching them.
My grandkids work the farm with us. They boys are very industrious, they have downed about30 trees and the. Chop and split it to sell pallets of fire wood. I love that they want to make their own money and work so hard. Having children work along side us helps them to have a greatly work ethic, a value for money and where things come from, it also make them feel like a valuable tram member. They are learning how to diligently provide for their families now at such a crucial time of life. I’m so thankful they get the opportunity to grow and explore life in this way.
Got three sweet pigs this weekend! We’re so excited to be raising our first home grown meat! In three to four months, we will be harvesting and providing for ourselves and others in a way we are so blessed to be able to do!

We love our little town here in North Texas. Love the smell of clean fresh air, the slower pace of life and the community life we share here.
Honey wheat smelling so warm and fragrant throughly the house.

The best part of a big holiday meal is all the wonderful things you can make out of the leftovers. This here is my turkey pot pie soup and my grammas baking powder biscuits. I love to creatively feed my family from the love from my soul that comes from generations of homemakers before me. Memories swim through my mind of them every time I prepare food. I have a rich history in the kitchen ♥️. On another post I’ll tackle “biscuits”. I’ve been working on making them like my grammas and I must say it’s an art. Today I used a beautiful lard and last time I used a bright yellow raw butter. I think I prefer the butter version. They came out twice the height and such a lovely flavor. Now I’m signing off to spend time with my sweet husband before a long day at church tomorrow. Have a wonderful night.
Look at all these beautiful eggs. What do you do with yours for storage?
I love my sourdough. She is hard working.
She is so beautiful 🤩
I love these simple Christmas gifts. Let’s bring back simple joys again.
Happy Thanksgiving all!
Praying peace and blessings over our home, community, state and country.
We have so much to be thankful for!
Hope y’all can share as good as my goats were sharing here 😂 Also, swipe and tell me who always ends up like this at the end of thanksgiving!
It’s usually my youngest!
Barron and Jiji. What’s a farm without a barn cat or two?
