Would you use filters consistently on your posts? Because obviously there’s the stressed involved, that you may get caught showing your real looks, you can’t do it once! 🙃 #filters

The bikinis are coming out and so is that nasty little voice of negative self-talk. Come on girls, we’re experienced by now, let’s move the attention up up up, to the face, to the smile. To the new earrings that suit you so well, to your new hair style. I’ve always had a fatty bum and thighs bigger than was desirable in my culture. And cellulite. I don’t have to LOVE them to accept and embrace them and get on with enjoying life. When the weather got hot I got my bikini out and looked in the mirror and I started having nasty thoughts. Automatically! So I caught the little voice and threw her out of the window. I think we’ll always have this negative self-talk, we’re talking years of conditioning. A day in the life of…’ Yup, that’s today’s prompt as part of my biz coach’s @lisajohnsonstrategist ‘s visibility sprint challenge. Where do you find support? I, just like the majority of women going through the perimenopause, seek support in groups of women. This is what research shows too! 🥹 We don’t turn to our partners (especially male), we know that there’s power in women’s groups! Thank goodness for the social media, people are still SOCIAL in those groups, and actually very, very supportive. Humans evolved because they figured out how to cooperate. Asking for help is the Homo sapiens thing to do! 😄 This week I messed up my website, and with it all my business emails were blocked too! In the meantime I thought that you all were ghosting me!.. 😂No, I can’t do the tech part of my business. Well surely I can YouTube it and figure it out, but it won’t be without getting frustrated and wasting time when I could be creating content, workouts, presentations. Sigh. We’re not meant to be able to do everything well, we’re not meant to be doing everything on our own. Asking for help feels eek for a lot of us women…! We expect so much from ourselves…! I had to quit teaching my studio dance classes to get my lean figure back. My community classes were big, successful and fun, it hurt to announce that I wasn’t teaching like that anymore… But I felt out of alignment. A lot of cardio isn’t what you need in perimenopause. I switched my mindset and my approach to fitness. I tested working out less, lifting dumbbells, I changed my healthy diet to a more aligned diet (now that’s truly healthy). A couple of months in, the belly fat went down significantly. Phew! 😅 Back into my favourite dresses. Learn to be comfortable with creating NOT-TO-DO lists! (Really!)I had a big productive day planned for me today, but Covid happened (timed with a heavy period) and it’s intense: even typing this hurts. My to-do list turned into a not-to list: 1)cancel tonight’s live session in my group. I’m all about looking after ourselves first, I practise what I preach and my girls were understanding. - not wash my hair. 2)My curly hair is a task this pounding head won’t take today. My hair can wait another day! 3)design a new workout for my membership. It can wait! All these can wait. The world won’t fall apart because I didn’t turn up to my responsibilities. My clients will be understanding and sweet as always! And the kids can make sandwiches 😆

It’s just too important! To take into account the physiology of a peri menopausing woman and not generalise. What worked in our 30s no longer works. It’s time to stimulate muscles differently and to eat in a way that your hormones are supported!
