Nov 19: Projekt DarkStar today release “IV-V-I”, a pounding alt-punk track dedicated to preserving the warnings outlined in “Fahrenheit 451”, Ray Bradbury’s classic dystopian novel.
“The lyrics reference the transformation of Montag [the main character] from official state destroyer of the written word, into a saintly soul dedicated to preserving it,” says the band’s frontman, FS Thompson (Steve).
As we move towards the 70th anniversary of Bradbury’s classic, which was penned during the McCarthy era (1953) and the ‘Second Red Scare’, there are obvious parallels with the present, such as the ‘cancelling’ of ‘alternative’ views on social media, and the endless promotion of division between ‘haves’ and ‘have nots’, also referred to in the Projekt’s previous releases (‘Feed the Fear’ and ‘Sovran’).

“I’ve got a message to preach; defend freedom of speech!”
