On this World Sight Day, Pakistan Optometric Society (POS) joins the global community in emphasizing the importance of eye care for young people, especially children.

Healthy vision is crucial for the growth, development, and learning of children. It is through their eyes that they explore the world, learn new things, and build their future. However, millions of children globally still face preventable or treatable vision issues, hindering their potential.

We call on parents, teachers, and healthcare providers to prioritize routine eye examinations for young ones. By raising awareness and ensuring timely intervention, we can help children enjoy a life full of color, clarity, and opportunity.

Together, let’s build a future where every child in Pakistan and across the globe has the right to see clearly. Eye care is essential, and the time to act is now!

July is Ultra Violet (UV) safety month.
Long-term exposure to bright sunlight may increase the risk of cataracts and growths on the eye, including cancer. UV rays reflected off sand and water can cause eyes to sunburn, potentially resulting in temporary blindness in just a few hours.

Pakistan Optometric Society reminds the public of the importance of shielding eyes from the sun's harmful rays with 100% UV-blocking sunglasses and broad-brimmed hats.

July is UV Safety Awareness Month! Extensive UV exposure increases the risk of macular degeneration, cataracts, and other UV-related eye diseases. Adults and children alike need to be protected from damaging UV rays.

Remind your patients of the importance of protecting their eyes from the sun by wearing sunglasses with 100% UV protection when spending time outside.
