A bird is chirping nearby my house. It's a freezing cold winter morning. The bird is enjoying the freedom and beautiful peace without traffic noise; no cars, buses, or trucks exist. This glorious, almost unimaginable moment of peace and silence is a true rarity considering the modern pace of life. There is one huge, old walnut tree, and the bird uses the thin and sharp beak to crack the walnut and eat that valuable protein. As I observe the bird's behavior, I am amazed at nature's perfect balance.
The walnut size is big, but the bird is trying hard to crack it with its sharp, useful beak. Somehow, the walnut was stubbornly hard, and the bird was spending a lot of energy in an unsuccessful attempt to hit it harder and finally crack it. After 10 minutes, the bird paused. This bird was about to change the plan and decided to fly a little higher with the walnut shell in the beak. The alternative plan for the bird was to pick up the highest possible speed and throw the walnut just above the nearby asphalt road, with faith that the walnut would open its hard shell. For the next 30 minutes, I observe the determination of the bird to crack the walnut by flying down toward the road with the walnut in the beak. Every time the bird picked up the full flying speed and threw the walnut at the road, it was unsuccessful. After more than ten attempts, the walnut finally cracked open. Before the bird had a chance to eat the walnut, the two other birds observing the situation took all the eatable pieces and flew away with lightning speed. It took nearly an hour of exhausting effort for the bird to crack that walnut finally, but the other two "thief birds" took the delicious food and flew away.
Sometimes we work hard, and someone else picks up the price instead of us. But that's ok because even the "thief birds" are there for a reason, to teach us a valuable lesson.
That does not need to change who we are; we don't need to adjust ourselves and change our mindset. The walnut shell might be hard to crack sometimes, but our determination will help us to keep trying and crack it.
If you can not crack a walnut, adjust your wings. Raise high again and try harder.
