"Ang BIR ay laging nakikinig sa opinyon ng ating mga kababayan, kasama dito ang mga online sellers at kanilang ginagamit na online platforms. Kaya inextend na ng BIR ang transitory period para bigyan ang taumbayan ng dagdag na 90 araw upang makapag-adjust sa RR No. 16-2023. Kasama sa aming Excellent Taxpayer Service ang pakikinig sa hinaing ng iba't ibang sector ng bayan. Ito po ang Bagong BIR sa Bagong Pilipinas" --Commissioner Romeo D. Lumagui

Hinabaan po natin ang transitory period para makasunod ang mga electronic marketplace operators sa mga pagbabago na buhat ng Revenue Regulation No. 16-2023 (RR No. 16-2023). Sa bisa ng RR No. 16-2023 ay may witholding tax system na ang mga gross remittances ng mga electronic marketplace operators at digital financial services providers sa mga sellers/merchants. Nilabas po natin ang Revenue Memorandum Circular No. 55-2024 na siyang nagdagdag ng 90 na araw sa transitory period, July 14, 2024 na po ang bagong deadline. Ang mas pinahabang palugit ay ating tugon sa hiling ng private sector.

Ang RR 16-2023 ating pinanukala upang mabuwisan ang mga online transactions at maging patas sa mga tindahan na nagbabayad na ng buwis. Dahil sa pandemya ay lumaki ang bilang ng mga online transactions ngunit karamihan sa mga online sellers ay hindi nagbabayad ng buwis.

Nakikinig po ang BIR sa mga hinaing at hiling ng private sector, kung ito po ay nasa tama at mapapakinabangan ng lipunan ay handa po tayo magkaroon ng rasonableng mga pagbabago sa polisiya.

CHED confirms discontinuation of SHS Program in SUCs, LUCs The Commission on Higher Education (CHED) has officially announced the discontinuation of the Senior High School (SHS) Program in State Universities and Colleges (SUCs) and Local Universities and Colleges (LUCs).

VAT exempt threshold increased from P3,199,200 to P3,600,000.

The President vetoed a provision of Ease of Paying Taxes Act stating that microbusiness are exempted from withholding their payment to suppliers.
