One night, while my family was asleep,
I was lying down on my bed and had a sudden burst of thankfulness.

My life, like a movie, passed before my eyes; all the pain, the fear, the ashes and then the restoration, the joy, the beauty.

How thankful I was that night for the simple things of the life gifted to me.

I was once lying in a hospital bed and I am now in my cozy bed filled with the joy of life.

I was once a wanderer, moving from place to place, and now I am rooted in my own home.

I was once fighting alone and now I am blessed with a wonderful family.

I was once in despair, filled with fear and now I live in the freedom of God’s love and renewed mercies.

That night my song “Thank you” was born.

I pray that my song will also fill your heart with thankfulness for all the things that God has done for you.

Let’s not take nothing in this life for granted!

Very early this morning I was reflecting on the past 10 years and the joy that this child has brought into my life.

In these 10 years I have very few regrets.

I regret the times I gave in to the pressure of what is considered the “norm” and tried to fit my child in that mold.

I regret the moments I tried to ignore the tears when my child was so little and wanted to be with me only in the first tender years of his life.

And those moments that I lost my patience because he needed my full attention but I was busy doing something else (that seemed so important then but so insignificant now).

But I thank God because it was those moments that made me re-evaluate, change my course, and decided to give him my all.

I will never regret my choice 4 years ago to leave all other things behind and focus 100% on being the mommy of this child.

Even though I might still not be perfect and make many mistakes (like every other earthly parent), I know that I will have no serious regrets 10 years from now.

I chose to be the one that raises this child. I chose to keep him close; to remove every obstacle that came my way in order to spend every moment of his childhood with him until the day he will be ready to spread his wings and fly.

My heart overflows with thankfulness for this privilege.

Jesus said these words to his disciples before he went on the cross.

When troubles, distress, sadness knocks on our door for any given reason, we can chose to stay down as if we are defeated.

We can chose to give in to the voices that say that our circumstances are too hard to overcome.

We can lie there feeling helpless listening to their lies that say:

“This is how the rest of your life will be like.”

When the Israelites were in the desert God took care of them every single time. Yet when they faced trouble they forgot how He had saved them in the past over and over again.

They said “Is this is how we will live? Where is God?”

But even then God delivered them.

“In this world you will have troubles” Jesus said.

We can chose to meditate on this part of the verse or we can chose to say “I will take heart! He has overcome the world!“

One day the voices of discouragement were ready to take me down.

I had to snap out of it and chose to remember the second part of the verse…

“I have overcome…”

and I wrote a song…

So off you go depressing thoughts, lies and fears. I chose to stay inside His arms, where all is safe and all is calm until the storm passes…

It has been a month since my first Christian single “I will not be afraid” was officially released.

The biggest blessing of being part of this journey is the messages I have received from people on how my song has touched an encouraged them.

Messages like this one encourage me to keep walking in my calling and to push through during the days of doubt and uncertainty.

My part is to sow the little seed that God has given me, you all water it with your love and God is the one who will make it grow and produce fruit to feed those souls who need it!

A few nights ago as I was trying to go sleep, I was thanking God for all the things He has done for me.

Exactly 10 years ago, October 2011, I was lying on a hospital bed and for the next 6 months I had to be ready to cross the valley.

But I was not alone; He was there by my side every step of the way. Encouraging me; strengthening me; reminding me that I can’t give up. That He has plans for me in the land of the living.

Thankfulness overflowed my heart that night as I remembered how He carried me though the years.

While I was at my lowest point in life, He healed me, He restored me, He blessed me with a beautiful family…

As I was meditating on these things my thoughts turned into a song. I wrote it down, and the next morning as I sat on the piano the melody was there.

I named it “Thank you”.

So it seems that there might be a change of plans as far as which song comes next in my releases.

I will sing “Thank you” for the very first time at the “Harvest of Hope” hosted by Christian Media Spotlight in November.

This picture was taken a few years ago right on the Hudson River right across the New York City.

My side of the river was so peaceful; I took a deep breath as I captured the shot and uttered a prayer of thankfulness.

We don’t need to live in the country in order to be still. We can train our minds to be hushed in the midst of our busy lives.

The Bible says that it’s in stillness and quietness that our strength lies.

Take a breath and make a choice... on which side of the river will your heart be today?

I am so thankful that God has blessed my life with doing the things that I love.

Creating music is one of them. That was put aside for a few years because of some valleys that I had to cross, and after that, finally on the mountaintop, focusing on the most important job I will ever have: being a mother.

The Bible says:
“To everything there is a season and a time to every purpose under heaven”.

I am so thankful for this season of my life and to be back singing while being home with my family.

God has done exceedingly abundantly more than I could ask for.

*I am Nikki and I live with my family in Northern Jersey.

*I where MANY hats! LITERALLY.
Two of them never come off and that is being a homeschool mom and a Christian. The other hats have come and gone through the years. Being a singer-songwriter is one of them and my goal it to keep that one on for a while.

*Life has interrupted my dreams, many times, but I’ve learned to keep my eyes on Jesus and to follow his lead through each season of my life.

✨Here is a “short” version of my story:

🐣 I was born in Oakland, CA, but I lived in Greece from the age of 8 until 30.

🎗In 2007, I was diagnosed with breast cancer. Since then there was a great desire in my heart to leave Greece and pursue my dream as a singer.

✈️ A year later God called me to return back to the USA and send me here through a series of miraculous events (more on that another time!)

🏙 After 2 years of living in NYC, studying Music and Theater, I was this time diagnosed with non Hodgkins Lymphoma. While undergoing chemotherapy I cried out to God:
🧎🏻‍♀️”Lord, if my life would make no difference in this world and if I would spend it alone, full of suffering, then please take me home”.

👉His answer was “Nope you’re staying!”

💍 The same year I met my lovely husband, and became a mama at the age of 38. (ahem emphasis on the age for all single ladies that are losing hope!)

👆I know that God kept me alive for a reason. To bring glory to Him by telling my story, with it’s ups and downs, always pointing to the one who saved me.

My goal is:

✨ That my life’s journey inspires you to never give up on your dreams, no matter what decade of your life your are in.

✨If you are a parent, that you will set Jesus as the #1 priority in your home no matter the cost.

✨That my songs and thoughts touch your heart and bring you closer to Jesus.
