As you are welcoming your new baby(ies) Earth side you might be wondering how you can possibly manage. The new baby, your own recovery, the laundry, the cooking, the house, your partner and possibly older children.

The truth is, no matter how much you prepare or think about it, you won’t know until you get there. But guess what, you WILL manage. Things will rarely go according to plan. But you WILL manage. Your hair, the house, the laundry, your other children, your partner, none will be clean at the same time for a while. But they WILL manage too.

As mothers we need to give ourselves grace, allow ourselves space for imperfection because at the end of the day, our babies and family need a happy mom, not a perfect one.

Maman.

My Maman is one of the strongest, kindest and goofiest person I know.
She has an infectious laugh and the best 80s wardrobe. Her dedication to her family is a serious inspiration.

My maman lives in France. And I live here.
As hard as that is, it is comforting for me to have her voice in the back of my head when I cook for all of you Berkshire mamas. “Sandra, did you get good color on your meat ? Sandra this doesn’t smell right ! Sandra, you can’t throw everything out when it doesn’t go your way”

I was so blessed to have her, as well as my dad, cook for myself and my husband when the twins were born.

The girls stayed in the NICU for a couple weeks and we stayed in a hotel nearby as we lived over an hour away.
Not ideal for postpartum recovery but what made this emotionally and physically more bearable was the amazing home cooked meals my parents brought us. Every.single.day.

For that I am forever grateful.

Merci Maman. Merci Papa.
(My father has asked for me not to share his picture on social media so I’m sorry but you won’t get to see what a handsome guy he is 😊)

08/02/2023

Red lentil and zucchini fritters for a one handed snack.

Eat it over steam rice with tzatziki and sliced cucumbers and you have a full and balanced meal.

08/02/2023

One of the biggest change in my life since having the twins happened in my kitchen.

Don’t get me wrong, as a chef I always loved spending time cooking for my husband and I. Being half French and half Sicilian there was no lack of béchamel, butter, cheese, pasta, pizza, tiramisu, tarts, crepes, eclairs and croissants. And I loved every minute of it.

That being said, ever since giving birth, I shifted the way I cook towards lighter, easier to digest and more vegetable centric food. I enjoy baking without using refined sugar. I enjoy limiting my gluten and dairy intake. I enjoy listening to my body and eat when I’m hungry as opposed to when “it’s time to eat”.
Most importantly, I LOVE the way these changes make me feel.

Of course we still and forever enjoy the occasional nostalgic European fare because it’s all about balance.

Dear community,
It is with a very heavy heart that we are putting our meal delivery service on pause.

As many of you know, being a working mother during this pandemic has brought up so many childcare challenges to light.

Our girls class still closes for a full 10 days if someone gets Covid.
The girls cannot attend school if one of them is sick.
And there is a lot more to this equation.

I am not giving up. I believe mothers need better care and I want to be part of the solution.
That being said, my family and I need my undivided attention for now.

I will be offering workshops and classes because sharing postpartum food knowledge is so important to me so stay tuned.

I know you are busy and probably a little overwhelmed right now. More stress has seeped into our lives, which is why we all need a reset.

My friend, holistic nutritionist Thais Harris, BCHN, has created a gentle and effective Spring cleanse that will make a huge impact in how you feel, because it will help you improve your digestion, your mood, your focus, your sleep and your energy.

Spring is the perfect time to embark on a cleanse and Thais’ program is food-based, safe and delicious. There is no starvation and no deprivation. The cleanse is all about the easy switches we can all do to lower inflammatory foods in our diet, allowing our liver and gut to more fully and efficiently process our daily intake, letting go of accumulated toxins that makes us tired, weigh-loss resistant, bloated, and foggy-brained.

Thais’ approach works because she helps you prepare for the long term, so it isn’t just about a quick solution that fades away the minute the cleanse is over. She helps you reconnect with your body and transform the way you relate to food.

If you are ready for a change that will help you feel amazing in your own skin, check out this link for more information and to register: https://detox.nourishtogether.com
