IN2STEAM aims to enhance, encourage and foster an innovative educational approach that integrates STE(A)M learning in primary schools through gender-inclusive methods and resources to attract more girls into STEM fields.
🆕✅ The "European Charter for STE(A)M Education" is finally ready!
https://in2steam.eu/media/in2steam-io4-european-charter-en.pdf
The document is directed to educational stakeholders and policy makers, with reccomendations on how to provide a 21st century education strategy targeted to educational institutions, in order to promote synergies between science, creativity and innovation, and to support the sustainability of STE(A)M learning at primary schools.
The "European Charter" is supported by:
➡️📝 the "Impact Report" with case studies related to the piloting of the STE(A)M Labs in schools;
➡️📝 the "Behavioural Assessment Model (BAM)" with guidelines on how to effectively measure behavioral change in pupils (in particular in girls) in primary school using the project's tested approach towards STE(A)M.

On the 7th of June 2022 the IN2STEAM partner 4-elements organised the multiplier event "Science Day" in Greece, with a focus on “Promoting girls’ participation in STEAM activities: applications in the Greek educational system”.
During the event, participants had the opportunity to discuss about the opportunities and challenges of an inclusive education and to share feedback on the "European Charter for STE(A)M education".
Before the summer vacation, the partner Danmar Computers organised the multiplier event “Science Day” which took place on the 28th of July 2022 in Rzeszów, Poland.
The objective of the event was to promote IN2STEAM project's tools and results (https://in2steam.eu/outputs/) among representatives from the primary education field as well as government and NGO organisations and private stakeholders.
Participants took part in a discussion on how to promote a positive change of attitudes towards non–stereotyping choices in education, in order to attract more girls into STEM fields: the conclusions from the discussion were interesting and enriching.

The final meeting of IN2STEAM as an occasion of exchanging good practices among partners On July 26 and 27, 2022, IN2STEAM partners gathered in Palermo for the final project meeting to review the goals achieved over the past years.
☑️✍️PROBLEM BASED LEARNING replicates real life scenarios and develops skills across a range of subjects.
📌 Teachers and educators in classroom can use this approach to enhance the learning of STEMs, focusing on:
- Formulate a problem statement
- Identify key factors
- Brainstorm
- Analysis of potential solution
This process lead to the acquisition of new knowledge and the formulation of a solution to the problem statement by the students.

☑️✍️The INQUIRY BASED LEARNING process is a way of thinking and acting that could be used in real-life contexts, to explore and solve real-life problems and issues.
🕵️♀️🕵️ Within this approach, the learner is an “inquirer” who develops an “investigation plan” and, for that purpose, will gather all the necessary information and resources to carry out the investigation, in order to analyse and solve a problem.
📌How the Inquiry Based Learning Model is important to manage STE(A)M activities in classroom?

IN2STE(A)M Labs: combining art and science, creativity and problem solving On the 9th and 10th of February 2022, the IN2STEAM project's consortium gathered on-line for the 5th Transnational partner meeting, to share the good practices from the IN2STEAM Labs carried out in the six partnerships countries.
For the we want to underline the importance of recognizing the role of women and girls in STEMs, not only as beneficiaries, but also as agents of change, in view of accelerating progress towards science and other STEM fields.
As promoter of contrasting the gender gap in STEM education and careers through the IN2STEAM project's actions, today we want to celebrate this important day mentioning four of the most important women on the frontlines in the quest to find vaccines capable of ending the global COVID pandemic:
1) Dr. Kathrin Jansen - head of vaccine research and development at Pfizer;
2) Dr. Katalin Karikó -biochemist and researcher of the mRNA molecule at University of Pennsylvania, in 2013 joined BioNTech, the pharmaceutical firm that partnered with Pfizer to make the first COVID vaccine from mRNA;
3) Dr. Kizzmekia Corbett, research fellow at the National Institutes of Health in US, her work on Moderna's vaccine has been praised by Dr. Anthony Fauci;
4) Dr. Lisa Jackson - senior investigator at the Kaiser Permanente Washington Health Research Institute, she led the world's first COVID-19 clinical vaccine trial, overseeing the first shot of the Moderna vaccine in Seattle on March 16, 2020.

Discovery and investigation activities can be conducted within the
standard classroom where the students can be divided into working groups and where the desks can be positioned differently, not facing the teacher’s desk but, for example, creating blocks or circles.
These kinds of setups allow students to work together encouraging socialisation and teamwork.
In Italy, the IN2STEAM Labs has been managed by the STEM experts with pupils divided in groups of four or six (as in the picture below), in order to facilitate cooperation and communication between them while they work on their projects. 👩🏫📝

CARDET (IN2STEAM's partner in Cyprus) proudly announces the successful completion of the implementation phase in the context of the IN2STEAM project!
More than 150 students enjoyed a unique STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics) experience in Cyprus. In particular, a total of ten dedicated, in-service primary school educators utilised the pedagogical material developed to organise and deliver experiential STEAM labs to students aged 8-11 years old.
The lessons went beyond the traditional teaching approaches as they focused on problem solving, creativity, critical thinking and collaboration, skills required in today’s society. Among others, students worked on the construction of bridges, the creation of nature’s pallet and learning Mathematics while drawing.
It is worth mentioning that all students’ reacted positively as well as the educators provided very encouraging feedback.
We would like to thank everyone who became part of this effort!

In Italy, during the previous days, primary school students have been involved in the 3D printing labs run by FabLab Palermo : designing 3D projects helps students to increase their creative skills and also to develop their ability to solve real-life problems.
The two programmes used during the Labs are:
1)TinkerCAD: through 3D modeling students were able to use their imagination freely;
2) Codeblocks: with modeling through programming a

In Italy, the piloting phase of IN2STE(A)M has successfully started! In the selected primary schools (ICS Rita Borsellino in Palermo and Circolo Didattico "Don Milani" in Terrasini), pupils (8-9 years) had the opportunity to experiment a series of learner-centered activities within different STEAM Labs, with the help of 2 female STEM professionals (Marcella Pizzuto, coordinator of FabLab Palermo and Matilde Passantino, naturalist and educator of Palermo Scienza). Through experiential learning, pupils discovered nature, robotics and 3D printing, while integrating STE(A)M in their school curricula. The piloting of the IN2STE(A)M Labs is ongoing in all the partners' countries and the first results are promising by January 2022!
