By operating as a tax-exempt public charity, Fielding the Future will be able to solicit charitable gifts that can be used to offset the costs of participation in youth baseball.
Raising some money, watching some baseball, and goofing around with a large fish in Morehead City with the Morehead City Marlins.
If you will be in the Morehead City area, please joins us Monday as we team up with the Morehead City Marlins!!! Baseball, fireworks, and a good cause!!!
Folks, we are so excited to have teamed up with the Morehead City Marlins. Please come out and see us if you are in the area Monday night. There will be post-game fireworks and, of course, great baseball as the Marlins take on the Peninsula Pilots.
We will be accepting used sports equipment. It doesn’t have to be just baseball gear. We will distribute equipment to various programs or sell it with the proceeds going to help fund many needs in youth baseball. Your used equipment could be turned into funds to help provide scholarships to youth programs, make improvements to youth fields and facilities, provide equipment to kids who would not otherwise have it, and more. Your contribution is tax-deductible and you also get some free space in the garage. If you would prefer to just make a monetary donation we will be able to accept cash or you can use our QR code.

Happy New Year!
Did your son or daughter get a new bat, glove, turf shoes/cleats, or a helmet for Christmas? Do you have old bags, catcher’s gear, or perhaps other sports equipment that you’ve been meaning to clear out of the garage or basement? Are you holding onto a piece of sports equipment that you’ve considered selling to a used sports equipment store but you just can’t part with a $300 bat purchased 2 years ago for the $35 they are now offering?
Let us help while you help us. We would love to accept your old sports equipment, preferably in good condition. That’s right, you can donate that equipment to a good cause. Fielding the Future, as part of our fundraising campaign, will be accepting tax-deductible charitable donations of sporting equipment that we can either sell for funds or donate to the entities and people for whom our organization was created to serve.
While we plan to formally roll this plan out in the Spring, we know that this is a great time for people to make charitable donations and also clear out old equipment. If you have used equipment, of any sort, please message us and we can arrange to have it collected or for you to drop it off with us.
Also, please share this post with friends and family and invite them to like and share our page.
Thank you all and Happy New Year!!!
Perhaps you’ve seen or heard this poem before, and perhaps you mused over how it was a reflection of the constant investment youth sports can be, especially our beloved baseball. However, I now ask you to read it in the context of the why Fielding the Future exists and what our mission is. Quite literally, this poem is what we’re all about. We believe all kids deserve a baseball and all that it represents. Please read the poem, like and share our page, and if you will, consider going to our website and making a donation to our cause.

If you give a boy a baseball, he will want a bat to go with it.
You’ll buy him the best bat you can find, and then he will probably want a bucket of balls and a glove and some cleats too.
Then, he will probably spend hours begging you to go out in the yard to play with him, even though you may want to sit on the couch and watch tv. He will insist. And his insistence will win.
And when a boy gets a jersey, he will need pants and socks and a belt to go with it. And a TEAM…..
And then life as you know it will end.
There will be no more lazy weekends watching tv. You will see more sunrises than you ever thought possible. Every spare minute of your time will be spent hauling buckets and bags and stinky cleats and crazy boys all over tarnation for hours to practice for a game.
THE GAME.
And your house will be a mess. And your car will be dirty. All because you gave a boy a baseball.
Your weekends will be spent freezing or burning to death on a fold up chair. And his weekends will be spent gaining confidence and friends, and learning new skills and having fun and getting dirty. So dirty in fact that you will have to learn how to do laundry in a whole new way, like maybe at a carwash using the pressure washer.
And you will be there the day he hits his first home run, first strikeout, and his first double play. And he will make you SO proud. The other parents will congratulate you. But you feel weird saying thank you because it's not you at bat or on the mound. It's all him, you’re merely the facilitator.
And right before your eyes, your little boy will be transformed from the baby who spun around with his head on the bat, (because he loves attention), into a pitcher. Because he loves attention… still.
When you give a boy a baseball , you give him more than just a ball. You give him a sport, and a talent, and hope, and dreams, and friends, a new family, a place to learn about life, room to grow as a person where he can push his limits, and bravery, and courage and LIFE, and memories. And he will have ALL of these things, simply because you gave a boy a baseball.
Because you gave a boy a baseball, you too will develop new/lifelong friendships, developed solely from the same passion for the game and love of your team. You will root together. Also, you can count on spewing PG-13 things out of your mouths together. Because you gave a boy a baseball.
Then one day, many years from today….he will be in his room and a baseball will roll out from an old dusty batbag underneath his bed. And he will pick it up and realize instantly that when you gave that boy a baseball, you also gave him a childhood that he would never forget. And then he will hug you, and your eyes may leak – because you realize that everything YOU gave up along the way…..was worth it!
All because you gave a boy a baseball ⚾️ …….
