LATERAL BALANCE AND WHY IT'S IMPORTANT
Think of Lateral balance (Left & Right) as a way to remain 'against' the outside ski.

A) If your balance is too far INSIDE, you won't have balance against the Outside ski.
B) If your balance is too far Outside, you'll spill over your outside ski.

Lateral Balance is the continuous movement that allows you to remain balanced against the outside ski.

OUTCOME:
Once you have good Lateral Balance against that outside ski, gripping, turning, and changing the shape of the turn will become much easier.
