I have a confession to make.

I don't find modesty empowering!

What...me?? The champion of modesty herself. The one who proudly wears long sleeves, head scarf and skirt at every single race!?

Yep, you heard right. I'd actually find it alot more empowering to rock a crop top as a mom whose given birth 5 times right now.

And it would be kinda cool to show off all those muscles I work so hard for.

Truth is that I never struggled with modesty growing up; I was never into fashion and I'm super short so my skirts always covered my knees😆

But I didn't think that deeply about it either.

It was just what I did... Because everyone else did. And I accepted it.

Now at age 31, I've finally been forced to confront modesty head on and dig a little deeper.

To ask myself why I choose to keep this Mitzvah every single day if it's restricting me in the sport I pursue. Today, for the first time ever, i literally felt like my clothing could have made a difference in my workout times and it dawned on me that for my upcoming 800m race it might cost me a second or two

And so i reflected inward and asked myself, Why do you keep this Mitzvah, Beatie?

I may not ever fully understand the reasons behind the rules of modesty. It can sometimes be hard to see the connection between covering my elbows and reflecting my inner soul. I know that elite athletes dress the way they do to optimize their performance, and it is more a matter of function than anything else.

And so at the end of the day, I accept that I can also adhere to the laws of modesty because I'm in a relationship with God and I cherish His requests even if I don't understand them.

For me right now, I've chosen to focus on internalizing the message of humility through my clothing. Dressing modestly reminds me that my strength is not my own.

As an athlete who works hard, it can be easy to get caught up in the feeling "It's all my work that got me here"

When I dress modestly I remind myself that my speed is a gift from God, and it's not me that deserves the credit. It helps keep me in check and connected to who I truly am at my core -- a body AND soul with a piece of God inside of me ⭐

She is not going straight home, she is staying with a relative.

The correct davening name is Rachel bas Rut (not with Matilda as otherwise thought).

Rav Chalkowski sounded great on the phone. Even though she is not home he is so happy she is not in the hospital.

I spoke with Rabbi Chalkowski and B”H the the Rebbetzin is doing much better, improving every day. He appreciates all the support and prayers.

There has been a shayla about her name and the Rav said we should use Rachel bas Rut (drop the Matilda).

Bambi related, "In one of the smaller cities around Gush Dan, there is a family with seven children who lost their father from cancer some five years ago. Now a year and half ago, the mother became sick, also with malignancy. For many, many months she fought for her life. She was niftar last week. To start with, it was a very very poor family,. The two oldest girls, twins, are 22 years old. They are running the house. They will get an income from Bituach Leumi but it definitely is not enough to run the household. I (Bambi ) have a very good friend who is very involved with the family. She was with the mother a lot in the hospital. And now she is also helping these girls. She told me that the financial situation is very harsh." This is just one of the countless tragedies Bambi has to assist with on a regular basis.
