Hi all! Check out these amazing numbers!
I'm super proud of the campaign that we ran, and even though we didn't get enough votes to get me elected - we made an impact!
I'm also grateful to Jake Anderson for running a clean campaign and upping the game in this county! I think he will be a good commissioner and will pay better attention because of this campaign and the conversations we've had.
Here's to change and the many ways it manifests!
By the Numbers - 800+ Campaign specific phone calls (with support from KC Dems)- 1 Literature Drop with KC Dems = 450 doorsTogether, we ran an amazing race and changed the conversation in Klickitat County!
Morning all, with about 9500 votes in I'm at 42.5%. So not ahead, but pretty good results for our rural country that has traditionally voted red. There are about 4k more votes to be counted over the next week or so. So it's not over yet. Results will be updated daily at 8pm.

I just supported Joanna for Commissioner! Join me and others to support this great candidate for Klickitat County Commissioner.
The saddest part about this campaign for me, is that we can't gather.
In January, I was looking forward to the fairs and the events. I'm a bit of a social butterfly sometimes and was excited about walking in parades and the float that a friend was dreaming up.
That changed with the pandemic - as we all know too well, we've had to be very creative with connecting. There is a lot of fear and this last 7 months has permanently changed the way that we do some things.
Sign waving might seem silly - but even standing along the road, just doing something like waving the same sign - together - lends to a sense of camaraderie that I've been missing.
The thumbs up, the honks, the waves - it is all so encouraging.
So if you are feeling especially sad and anxious as we wait out the next 14 days - join me and other volunteers on a street corner. together. To gather and dance and wave and smile and laugh. I will be at the following sign waving events that are being held by the great Klickitat Dems!
Today, Wednesday 5-6 p.m. in Lyle and Bingen.

Regarding Endorsements:
I do not endorse either candidate for KC commissioner position #3. I will work with whoever is elected.
Fact: Sizemore has endorsements from groups, people and organizations that are the machine in this county, the good ol' boy club. Period.
We need a change in this county. The only way to do that is by electing me, no matter what happens in Dist. #3.

We need to have a more balanced commission. Period!
When there are big changes happening in Klickitat county like this one, it is absolutely vital to have citizens concerns represented on the commission. Your vote for me this fall is a vote for Better Discussions, Better Decisions and Better Outcomes for all the residents of Klickitat County.

The role of County Commissioner is often underestimated.
The Board of County Commissioners is responsible for adopting, amending and repealing all County ordinances. These include traffic, zoning, planning and public safety ordinances.
Another equally important duty is to levy the taxes to operate the County and to adopt a budget for each year. This budget is what determines funding for each of the county's departments and programs. In Klickitat county, this includes funding for
- Public roads and public works programs;
- Public health services;
- Planning and zoning of unincorporated areas;
- Emergency Services and response;
- County park and recreation systems
For far too long, Klickitat County has had only one monolithic voice on the Board of County Commissioners.
This has resulted in a lack of innovation and transparency.
I will facilitate a more thoughtful approach to the commission by challenging the status quo and encouraging public input.
I will prioritize access to broadband, better mental health care and broadening our economic base.
No matter what district you're in, on this coming election day you can vote for me. A vote for me is a vote for the people of Klickitat County.
Columbia Gorge Women's Action Network and the League of Woman Voters made these great cards for sharing. With only 45 days left until election day, it's more and more important to get everyone registered. Please feel free to share this post to any and all of your friends.
Thank you so much Jennifer Miller Harty for your amazing letter to the editor in the Goldendale Sentinel, which can be found below or at https://www.goldendalesentinel.com/opinion/letters-from-the-community/article_b55df8a0-f837-11ea-b3f7-73ef9be3bc80.html
"Turn to Turner
According to The Center for American Women and Politics, in 2020, 127 women hold seats in the United States Congress, comprising 23.7 percent of the 535 members.
Did you know that there has not been a female represented on the Klickitat County Board of Commissioners since 2006? How about the fact that a Democrat has not represented the Board since 1996! I have not been able to find evidence of those representing Latin or indigenous peoples on our board or its committees. In a time of frustrating division among citizens in our country, it is time for Klickitat County to step up and recognize that we represent a community of many and not a community of one. Joanna Turner, running for County Commissioner District 1, recognizes this adversity.
Joanna understands that not all of our citizens needs are either being heard or represented. A group or community can only evolve when all its constituents are equitably heard and supported. For too long Klickitat County has operated with an agenda that benefits only a few and has no diverse representation on its board. I feel that Joanna Turner has taken the time to listen to our diverse citizens’ concerns, make sure they are heard and build community. Her experience as a self-employed entrepreneur, advocate, and a community council member make her uniquely qualified to understand and support our community. Joanna has listened to the concerns about the frustration with the lack of Broadband. She has listened to the concerns regarding the lack of affordable housing, she has listened to those advocating for at risk youth. She has listened to the concerns of citizens with the Under Canvas proposal.
Please think about what building a community means and support Joanna Turner for Klickitat County Commissioner District 1.
Jennifer Harty
