The virtual prayer tree
A site for people to post prayer requests
Nothing can fill the gap when we are away from those we love, and it would be wrong to try to find anything. We must simply hold out and win through. That sounds very hard at first, but at the same time it is a great consolation, since leaving the gap unfilled preserves the bonds between us. It is nonsense to say that God fills the gap; He does not fill it, but keeps it empty so that our communion with another may be kept alive, even at the cost of pain.
Dietrich Bonhoeffer
(Celtic Daily Prayer, Book One, p180)
Loving Lord, I miss the people I love very much. And they miss me. Let the space between us become an unbreakable bond.
Amen
Something to think about and perhaps pray - a poem by Eddie Askew which I found in Celtic Daily Prayer.
Sarah Jane asks
please pray for G who is struggling at the moment with pressures from work and help his family to support him.
Please pray for those in our communities who are fearful for the safety of loved ones and friends in care homes, and also for everyone working in our local care homes and the residents.
Please pray for my daughter-in-law's mother Ann and brother Bob who are both ill with Covid, and for all those who are isolated from family members who are ill at this time.
Please pray for people who are feeling isolated. Not everyone has internet or a car.
I've just spent half an hour helping my mother-in-law, putting away her groceries. She doesn't need personal care but she is on her own. My daughter bought her groceries but can't safely go in to chat to her because she is working in a face-to-face environment. My brother-in-law can't go there to eat his Sunday dinner or take her shopping or for chips; he calls by on the way to work and on the way home to make sure she is OK. She is seeing people at a distance or talking on the phone, but is really struggling.
There must be many more like her, who could do with our prayers.
Please would Facebook users make sure people who are not and who might use the Church prayer spaces know that this is here for them too.
They can ask someone else to post on their behalf by phone or email.
If anyone wants a poster to advertise The virtual prayer tree, please ask and I'll email one to you.
Best wishes to everyone. Rosemary
