Your Help Is Needed!!

Antique Implement Society (AIS) is soliciting funds for the renovation and expansion of the Richardsons building that has been added to the AIS managed area at Powerland in Brooks, Oregon. The building presently houses the generator set that powered Mt Hood ski lodge and chair lift from 1939-1956. It is also home of Johnson Machine Shop that was located in Albany, Oregon. To date $190,000 have been raised by fundraising events and private donations. Our goal is to reach $220,000 to expand and renovate the facility to house more large gas and diesel engines from the Industrial Revolutionary past that was instrumental in building this Great Nation and to Educate and preserve there history for future generations. All donations can be sent to:

AIS

Salem, Oregon 97303

AIS is a 501 C3 Nonprofit organization and all donations are tax deductible.

The AIS Board greatly appreciates any and all donations, large or small!

Alan Douglas Schurman Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information 09/03/2019

Yesterday we laid to rest an Horary Member of this group! Alan was a Great supporter of ours and gave generously over the years. His contribution to restoring our 8-16 IHC and Monarch Lightfoot tractors was greatly appreciated and would have not been achieved with out him taking on these two projects! RIP until we meet again!

1894 Golden Gate Gas Engine

As we enter into 2019 we run this engine, presumably serial #4, in memory of two collector no longer with us. Gilbert Merry and Ted Small. Gilbert and Ted always showed engines at the county fair and one year Gilbert was approached by a local farmer saying he had an engine he would like to sell. After Gilbert found out it was a common engine and thought the asking price was to high he passed. The farmer made his way on to Ted and offered Ted the engine. Ted went out and looked at the common engine and bought it. After buying the engine the farmer said he had another engine on the farm in an old pump house. Upon seeing the Golden Gate Ted bought it also. He loaded both engines up and headed straight to Gilbert’s to rub in his new purchase! Gilbert was so mad at himself for not going to look. Gilbert would send his nephew over to Ted’s about once a year to try and purchase the engine. This went on until Ted passed away. A few years later Ted’s family auctioned off Ted’s collection. Gilbert was in a nursing home by this time and told his nephew to purchase the engine no matter what! Gilbert passed away shortly before the auction and his nephew purchased the engine as Gilbert had instructed him to do.
