Making some progress on the truck. Got the Alternator, intake manifold, fuel rail, and wiring harness installed. I'll have to pull the valve covers still once I get the paint picked out to paint match them, but progress is being made. Next up is figuring out how to mount the fuel sending units and fuel pump. That's going to be a challenge that I wish I could push off to someone else. Lol
Engine is back in. And it rotates!
I did a thing! Engine is back together! The only thing left to go on that wasn't on when I pulled it apart are the coolant josès everything is new, rotates great, and should be great for years to come!
Rotating assembly is in, and heads are installed. Maybe tomorrow, I'll get the rest of the engine installed. Those head bolts are no joke!
Oops, it tipped over.
Top of the cab is stripped, now time to clean up the underside and get the undercoating on before putting it back upright to get the rest of the cab in primer!
Over the last week, my friend, Randy and I have been finishing up rust repair on the cab, and I think I can safely say that I think we got it all. Today, I spent the whole day with the drum sander stripping the layers of paint, and bondo from the cab, and surprisingly didn't really find anything I didn't expect! I still need to strip the roof, then flip the truck in its rear and undercoat it before putting the whole cab in primer! Let's keep this momentum going!
Time to blow the dust off and do some work.
Some more progress. Today was just getting these 2 pieces isolated, and the spot welds drilled out. Tomorrow. I will remove their matching pieces off of the truck, and maybe get these installed.
Thank you Brian Morrison @ Slick Truck Parts for helping me with the tough to find sheet metal. Without guys like you, these trucks would end up rusting away.
Inch by inch, making progress on the surprise f100.
A little, but HUGE progress today was getting this cab corner made, and installed. The 2nd one will definitely go quicker, but I'm so happy to have this part done.
Let's do this! Deadline December 25th, 2023.
