❤️ A poem I've recently been sharing in classes that has resonated with many:

It only takes a reminder to breathe,
a moment to be still, and just like that,
something in me settles, softens,
makes space for imperfection.

The harsh voice of judgment drops to a whisper and I remember again that life isn’t a relay race;
that we will all cross the finish line;
that waking up to life is what we were born for.

As many times as I forget,
catch myself charging forward without even knowing where I’m going,
that many times I can make the choice to stop, to breathe, and be, and walk slowly into the mystery.

By Danna Faulds - 'Walk Slowly'

❤️ Well done to everyone who attempted this pose this past week with me. Strong practices this week - the stillness after the movement was very moving. Deep relaxation taking place in all your hearts and I can feel the vibrations in my heart 💗

Thabk you for being so kind,

Tash x

Chaotic Mindfulness Tips to Soothe Depression/Low Mood

For the normal human who doesn't have 500 hours in the day to meditate or do a face mask.

(Cue Lana Del Rey – Summertime Sadness)

When you’re in a low state, any task feels insurmountable. So, we’re going to break things down into bite-sized pieces. I’m going to cover random things I’ve done and continue to do when I feel low energy or down.

And then I’ll also share some tips for dealing with depression. While I’m not in that place right now, I’ve spent a lot of time there and could certainly be there again in the future.

So in this blog post, I’m talking to you at home, but I’m also talking to myself—or future me.

A Letter to My Future Self

Hey future Tash,

Depressed Tash of the future,

I know you’re going through a hard time.

You’re eating a lot of peanut butter,

your hair is wild,

and you look crazy right now

but that’s OK.

Don’t beat yourself up.

You’re doing what you can.

You’re surviving,

and I’m really proud of you.

Here are some tips that I think will make you feel a little bit lighter.

OK, here we go:

⚕️Special Pop-Up
Embrace Sweet Silence with Restorative Yoga
Sunday 11th August
2.45-4.00pm

In the constant whirlwind of daily routines (especially during the Summer months), true silence becomes a rare and precious gift.

Our minds are constantly flooded with noise, distractions, and chatter. This leaves little room for inner peace and quiet reflection.

In this pop-up, I invite you to embrace the soothing power of silence. This special practice is designed to provide a space from the noise of the outside world, offering you a chance to reconnect with your inner world.

What to expect:

⚕️ Silent Practice: The session will be conducted in near-complete silence (a few bells here and there), allowing you to fully immerse yourself in the experience.

⚕️ Guided by Bells: Instead of verbal instructions, soft bells will gently guide you through each transition, helping you maintain focus and presence.

⚕️ Minimal Verbal Guidance: Essential instructions will be provided briefly at the beginning, with the rest of the session dedicated to silent, mindful practice.
Silence in restorative yoga not only calms the mind but also enhances the body's ability to heal and restore itself. This practice will allow you to listen more deeply to your body's needs.

Give yourself the gift of silence. Let the absence of words create a space for introspection, clarity, and deep healing.

I personally love a practice that involves minimum instructions and more sweet silence. We often don't get enough silence in our lives and it's very good for our brains 🧠

Lots of love,

Tash x

🍨 Soft Brown Girl Summer

💅🏿 Trying to be break the Instagram algorithm of living a slow and softer life being a brown person.

💅🏿 A 'soft girl summer' is trending ATM with images of (mainly non-brown and black people) people living a soft lifestyle: one that focuses on relaxation, leisure pursuits, space to explore creative hobbies and spending time in and around nature. Whe I was growing up, I never, ever saw people that looked like me living a life that didn't include hustling, working, grinding and constantly pushing for more. More kids, more money, more jobs, more and more and more of anything and everything.

💅🏿 It's exhausting.

💅🏿 As people of colour we are emboldened in our suffering yet taught we are less deserving of peace, safety and love.

💅🏿 Deep rest becomes a radical form of self care - not the kind of commodified self-care we can find packaged in face masks and candles - but the kind of care that rejects capitalism that tells us we always need to be productive to be worthy and deserving of nice things in life.

💅🏿 I stand with all the brown girls out there who are carving a softer, more peaceful lives for themselves. I'm unashamed to say that a soft brown girl summer is something that crave too ❤️💅🏿💞

I’m taking a wee break from all my classes (online and in-studio) as I go on my holibobs.

As a Restorative Yoga teacher, I take my ‘rest’ quite seriously, so I’m also taking a break from social media for that time. I don’t ever get the chance to do this at other times, as my job is so tied to my online presence. So, if you need me, email me babes. I’ll try to reply asap, but my response will be a bit slower because I’ll be eating my body weight in food and pretending to be a mermaid in the sea. Brown mermaids for the win! 🧜🏿‍♂️🌊🐟🦀⛵

Take good care and I will see you all in July

Recent cosy & slow moments in my life 🪷

I received two bits of good (great, really!) news the last couple of weeks:

✨ I’m officially divorced! Major happy news, I think I let out a happy squeal when my lawyers emailed me!

✨ I’m still cancer-free. I don’t talk about this a lot as it’s quite a heavy topic but in 2021, I had a tumour removed from my belly (8cm long!). Some of you may have seen the scar on my abdomen – this is from that operation. I get checked up every 6 months – and I’m still all clear. NHS is a major gem and I’m so thankful for them.

I wouldn’t say that Summer is my season – but trying to appreciate the little slow moments of crafting, painting, walking, reading, and spending quality time with people I love 

Last week of teaching this week before I go on a little break for 3 weeks!

Hope you are being gentle with yourselves,

Tash x

I'm feeling truly grateful to all of you for recieving my classes with such open hearts and for being so kind to me ❤️

When I first started teaching I would be lying if I didn't feel the pressure to make my classes more fast-paced and intense on the physical body. Fast forward 7 years and I think I've fine-tuned my style to incorporate exactly what I want to offer: nurturing, relaxing and calming relaxation practices that offer space to have fun whilst moving your body but also to go deeper into the mind, if you want to and feel like it.

What I teach is exactly how I practice.

Everything that I teach, I've also practiced before myself as a student.

So thank you, for being so kind and for giving me the space to offer this to you babes ❣️

What's on my Cosy Afternoon Summer reading list?

🌞 As the days grow longer and warmer, there's nothing quite like settling into a comfortable nook with some books that transport you to far-off lands or simply offer a moment of respite from the busyness that Summer can bring. Here are the books I'll be diving into, some that I have read already, some that I will be devouring soon.

🌞 Sometimes I want to read and be moved and think about life and sometimes I want to read and switch off my brain. Do you get me? These titles have a little bit of everything.

🌞 Pls note: I am not a romance/heavy fantasy/nonfiction reader so these titles are more literary fiction/mystery vibes.

🌞 Save for later and drop me some books on the same wavelength below :)

We don't see enough brown people enjoying slow moments in life. Growing up in Asian culture, we were encouraged to keep moving, doing, rushing and producing.

I am never one to claim I have my sh*t together. In fact, my sh*t is all over the place, depending on the day 😂

A reminder that social media is not a true reflection of what is really going on and even though I am the happiest I have ever been, I still struggle with lots of different things from time to time ❤️🌹✨

How would you feel if you had a day of introspection, relaxation and self-care booked in for the start of the Summer? Book now and in 6 weeks be greeted with yoga, sound healing, nurturing social connection, deep rest and nature time. Carve out the time now.

You are invited to our retreat, a day dedicated to deep rest, processing grief and cultivating gentleness within yourself.

Grief has no guidebook—no straight line to follow. It doesn’t always have to be connected to bereavement either. It's the soul's way of mourning a person, place, or time in the past, coming in unpredictable waves. One moment you're feeling low, the next you're laughing, then numb. In the midst of this process, it's essential to give yourself permission to feel and heal.

What’s involved:

Nature Time: A space for you to be by yourself any time you need to during the day in the natural beauty surrounding our retreat space.

Healing Yoga Sequences: You will be encouraged to move in a way that suits your body’s needs on that particular day – making each movement invitational and optional.

Self-massage with Organic Jojoba & Ylang Ylang Oil: Tash will then guide you into an Abhyanga (ayurvedic self-massage). A luxurious self-care ritual as you pamper your body with organic jojoba and ylang-ylang oil.

Calming Live Piano with Restorative Yoga: Surrender to the soothing melodies of live piano music as you sink into a state of deep relaxation during restorative yoga practice.

Healing Crystal Bowl Sound Bath with Yoga Nidra: Experience the healing vibrations of Crystal Tones crystal alchemy singing bowls during a transformative Yoga Nidra session.

Home-cooked Lunch: Nourish your body with a delicious and wholesome Ayurvedic-inspired lunch, lovingly prepared with locally sourced, organic ingredients.

Optional Journaling: Reflect on your journey and insights gained throughout the day through optional journaling sessions.

Price: £90
Early Bird: £80 (use code EARLYBIRD2024 when booking)
Bring a friend and pay £140 (£70 each)
Early bird offer until end of April. Please contact me if you are coming with a friend :)

Thank you to everyone that takes the time to write me a review.

Most of the time I have no idea how my classes it teachings are landing - so it's nice to have some reassurance that you find them helpful.

It's also nice to see you think I'm a warm and welcoming person 😀😂

I try hard to plan my classes so that they reflect the full range of practices that Yoga has to offer. It's not the same thing each week - I like to take you on a journey with the theme that I'm offering.

After 7 years of teaching Yoga and 2 years of teaching Meditation, I still have to take a few deep breaths before teaching each class 😁

Love to you all ❤️

Last month I celebrated my 34th birthday. Birthdays have always been a somewhat emotional time for me. So I decided to f*ck it and take a holiday. I flew to the sunny island of Fuerteventura with my partner, Ben to enjoy a week away from my normal routine and really chill out. I saw this as a radical act of self-compassion.

For some this is a day of celebration where perhaps the most dramatic thing is not having enough birthday cake or indulging in too many Proseccos. And if this is you, please do know that my heart is full for you, and I wish for you to hold onto that peace. But to quote Poorna Bell, “for many of us, this is a time that isn’t magical, and perhaps it’s because something happened that made it hard to believe in magic”. If this resonates – I’d like to hold space for you – because I get it.

I’d like to share a few gentle, simple practices below that have been helping me navigate the emotional landscape of grief and loss.

Having a bath at the start/middle of the day. There is something so healing and cleansing about being submerged in water.

Allowing myself to do nothing – pressing pause on the endless river of doing and switching into being.

Treating myself – whether it be buying a cake for myself (see above), watching my favourite trashy TV show, taking a Yoga class. Just do something special for yourself.

Going to weekly therapy sessions. Therapy is expensive, but it works.

Taking care of my physical body. Attend to the shell. Skin care. Self-massage. Hydrate. Moisturise. Hair Care. Eat home-cooked meals. Sleep. Nap. Take deep breaths.

Restorative Yoga. I’m drawn more towards the introspective qualities of Restorative Yoga when I feel I need to process life experiences.

Move at your natural pace. Don’t feel rushed by people around you. Take your time responding to emails and texts.

Wear comfortable clothing. Comfort can be a powerful reminder to treat your body with the tenderness it deserves.

Let go of the need to label or pigeonhole feelings.I’m trying to let go of the need to constantly monitor everything – and just let them be.

And lastly – p*e when you need to. Don’t hold it in babes. That email can wait :)

Xx

I've been observing January with a non-judgmental eye, noticing what comes up and *responding* rather than *reacting*. It's an ongoing process to avoid criticising what feels right and letting go of ‘shoulds’. Letting life be without hesitation or assumptions – and staying curious and open.

As a result, I’ve found that I've allowed grief back into my life - in all its varying forms. Grief is often only seen through the lens of bereavement. However, grief transcends these boundaries, permeating various life events marked by some form of loss—be it the loss of a job, grappling with illness, the profound shift that comes with having a child, navigating failure or humiliation, transitional periods, relationship breakdowns, and countless other scenarios. Grief, I've come to realise, is a nuanced emotional landscape that extends far beyond traditional mourning.

This paragraph from the book ‘Wintering’ by Katherine May touched my heart and explains grief well:

“We aren’t raised to recognise wintering,
Or to acknowledge its inevitability.
Instead, we tend to see it as a humiliation,
Something that should be hidden from view lest we shock the world too greatly.
We put on a brave public face,
And grieve privately.
We pretend not to see other people’s pain,
We treat each wintering as an embarrassing anomaly that should be hidden or ignored.
This means we have made a secret of an entirely ordinary process.
We do this at a great cost.
Wintering brings about some of the most profound and insightful moments of our human experience.
And wisdom resides into those that have wintered.
In our relentlessly busy contemporary world,
We are forever trying to defer the onset of winter.
We don’t ever dare to feel it’s full bite.
And we don’t dare to show the way it ravages us.
A sharp wintering sometimes would do us good.
We must stop believing that these times in our lives are sometimes silly, a failure of nerve, a lack of willpower.
We must stop trying to ignore them or expose them.
They are real and they are asking something of us.
We must learn to invite winter in"

In the midst of allowing grief back into my life - I've allowed myself to feel moments of joy on my holiday ❤️

17/01/2024

Some new p*eps on here so I thought I wouldshare a bit about what I do ❤️

Hello I'm Tash!

I help intuitive souls, like you, to heal your relationship with yourself through the teachings of Yoga & Meditation.

🌸 It all started with a little breakdown...

🌸 Seven years ago, a profound realisation struck me – life was slipping through my fingers at an alarming pace, and I found myself merely a passenger on the journey, grappling with exhaustion, stress, and anxiety. I had unwittingly buried the scars of my childhood, having grown up in a household entrenched in addiction, and as a result, I felt utterly detached from my own mind and body. Neglecting self-care, I reached a point where I not only felt physically unwell but also harboured a deep dislike for the person I had become. It was clear: I needed a change.

🌸 Yoga was the only time I was able to pause and come back into my body. It provided me a space to connect to myself and understand my thoughts and emotions better and over time helped me heal my low self-confidence and self-doubt. This along with many, MANY hours spent in therapy.

🌸 So, I am here to provide a space to help you do the same. I'm not going to promise you life-long bliss - because life is more complex than that. However, I can promise you a kind, inclusive and gentle space where you have the freedom to move your body in whatever way feels comfortable for you and explore your mind at your own pace.

🌸 My goal is to teach you how to relax and  cultivate a more compassionate relationship with yourself so you can spend less time worrying and more time on things that matter to you.

🌸 My classes are light-hearted, gentle, and strengthening with a big focus on mental health and a cultivating connection with your inner world. I teach a range of styles including Hatha, Vinyasa, Restorative & Yin and incorporate elements of all in my classes. Welcome to 'The Rest Nest' a blissful journey into deep relaxation and rejuvenation through the powerful practices of Restorative Yoga and Yoga Nidra.

Are you feeling tired from the festivities?
Do you need some time to rest and restore your energy?
Are you craving stillness and peace at the start of the year?

This event is designed to assist you to down-regulate the nervous system, calm the body-mind, and facilitate a deep sense of rest.

Each pose is carefully selected to gently open the body, promote flexibility, and induce a state of calmness. We will take time to build a nest with props to get the body so comfortable and cosy - that the body cannot resist the relaxation. Poses will be held for a minimum of 5-10 mins so that you can really surrender into each shape, allowing tension to melt away and the body to unwind.

We will then ease ourselves into the ancient practice of Yoga Nidra, often referred to as "yogic sleep" or conscious relaxation. Through guided meditation, you will be led into a state of profound relaxation while remaining fully awake and aware. This practice has been scientifically proven to reduce stress, anxiety, and improve overall mental well-being. Discover the power of conscious relaxation and its impact on your mind, body, and spirit.

There will be a moment at the end for a brief journalling session where we can write down what intentions we set in our Yoga Nidra meditation and contemplate how that might manifest in our day-to-day lives in 2024.
