Using the theory that I've never seen a fisherman melt and with great trepidation due to the deluge that was forecasted Ross Schweinforth journeyed from Chattanooga to Louisville to provide some exceptional fly casting wisdom.

We also welcome Mike from Project Healing Waters - Murfreesboro, TN

Thank you very much to Ross for the gift of his time and our friends Active Heroes for allowing us use of their amazing facilities.

Thanks to our RC, Charles Hantz, for ordering better weather than the forecast provided.

Today we request that everyone takes a moment of silence to remember the lives that were lost on this day. From the lives of the individuals in the Towers 1&2, the lives of the first responders that responded to the towers, the lives of the soldiers who answered the call to defend our freedom and all the family members who continually live each day with the void of their fallen loved ones. Let us never forget, and may God comfort us all.

Davod Ligon, one of our Volunteers, presented a masterful fly plate to Henry Stockman at our meeting Thursday to recognize Henry's accomplishment in the National Casting Competition. David is a true Master at the tying vise. The beautiful flies he ties, as shown here, are true works of art. David has been volunteering with our Chattanooga Program from day one in 2013.

Ready for green flag! Capping off the MOST fun weekend with our friends at Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing, Inc.!

02/09/2023

This past weekend was a wonderful opportunity to celebrate our partnership with The Ward Burton Wildlife Foundation at Daytona International Speedway. Project Healing Waters Veteran participants were able to watch two NASCAR races, fish Lake Lloyd in the center of the iconic track, check out the pits and tour thanks to Jeb Burton, Jordan Anderson and Bommarito Autosport, and share a great weekend of camaraderie, connectedness, and healing, hosted by Daytona 500 winner Ward Burton and every detail organized impeccably by WBWF's Sarah Graper and our own John Fall.

This amazing weekend would not have been possible without presenting sponsor Golden Corral, and to be able to have Lance Trenary, Paul “Skip" Hanke, and Telly Smith join us and share the weekend with our Veterans was priceless. The continued support of Golden Corral for our organization and our programs is critical for the continuation of the Project Healing Waters mission.

Huge thanks to Florida Beef Council Inc, Cottrell Contracting Corporation, Jeff Storie and State Water Heaters, and Healing Towers Alaska, not only for helping make the weekend happen through their support, but also for joining us!

Williams Knife Co. provided an inspiring, tangible contribution to the weekend through etching our partnership with Ward and his foundation on custom steel. It will be amazing to see that physical manifestation of our shared mission out in the world. We cannot thank Chris Williams enough for the support of our mission, for joining us at Daytona, and for the creativity and skill in bladesmithing!

Costa Del Mar Sunglasses, Inc., Far Bank Enterprises, and Umpqua Feather Merchants assured that our Veterans were well-equipped, while Ole Florida Fly Shop made sure that there were flies on the end of the line!

Not to mention that it was pretty darn cool to do a lap of NBC Sports' on-site facility and see where all the production magic happens so everyone at home can watch what our Veterans got to see in person!

Thanks to everyone who made this once-in-a-lifetime event happen for our Veterans, we can't wait to share it with you as the footage from Cameron Cushman all comes together!

Our Louisville, KY program enjoyed great weather, great camaraderie, great water, and great food on our day fishing outing to Hatchery Creek in Jamestown, KY. Graet to see everyone who showed up. If you missed it you missed out on a great outing. It was a beautiful place to allow the participants what is hard to convey in a room setting. We were able to go over hiw to read water, how to mend, some new cast, and how to eat some good food. Thank you all who brought items to eat, and a huge thank you to my awesome wife for tending the grill on a hot day serving up a delicious meal to our participants. Looking frward to many more of these.

I would like to thank Project Healing Waters for a phenomenal trip to Thorwood, WV. The conversations , bonding, joke telling, fly-fishing information that was shared, and the opportunity to disconnect from the hustle and bustle. It is an amazing experience to see a beginner fly fisher hike deep into the woods challenging themselves in some of the toughest conditions and come out grinning ear to ear, thanking everyone for the experience and stating they can not wait for the next exythat awaits them. Bubba and Sarah Holt, John Moore, and all the Volunteers, thank you from the bottom of our hearts for all you do helping make this possible. JD and Andrew thanks for taking us into the woods and dousyus in your knowledge and expertise, you both gave us an amazing experience. To all that did not make the trip, you truly missed out seeing some great countryside, as well as the opportunity to hone fly fishing skills with very skilled volunteers. I would definitely encourage anyone that is invited next year not to pass the opportunity up.

As long as I have been associated and volunteering my time with Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing, not once has it been about myself or what I could get out of the program for myself. Recently the participants of the Project Healing Waters - Louisville, KY Program presented me with this hand made fly tying station. The participants even added an extra personal touch by including some of the fly patterns that were tied in our monthly fly tying classes. This kind and very humbling gesture has been truly unexpexted, however, very much appreciated. For everyone in the Project Healing Waters- Louisville, KY Program, I want to thank you all as well as Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing TN Valley Region Leadership, and Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing Headquarters Leadership for entrusting our participants healing journey to me. I thank all the participants that have given selflessly by volunteering and all the participants who show up, because without you all our peogram would not be successful. I look forward to continuing the healing journey with each and everyone of you and with new participants of our future growth. Again, thank you all.
