Ministers: Pregnant Scots who have previously suffered miscarriage will be offered new medical treatment to protect their baby 29/11/2021

One of our campaign aims was for progesterone to be offered when clinically appropriate. Therefore we warmly welcome new NICE guidelines published last week, which recommends the use of progesterone for those who experience early pregnancy bleeding and have had at least one miscarriage.

Campaigners for better miscarriage care: Landmark research is a game-changer - The Sunday Post 04/05/2021

The publication of the Lancet report is a game changer and Scotland will hopefully be at the forefront, leading the way by making the recommended changes to miscarriage services.

Campaigners for better miscarriage care: Landmark research is a game-changer - The Sunday Post An estimated one in five women experience the heartbreak of miscarriage yet the national rate is not currently recorded in the UK.

Being told you can ‘just try again’ does not acknowledge the loss and pain of miscarriage or show an understanding of the impact of a loss on a women, her partner and family.

This is a shocking statistic, but we still don't know the reasons why. Our Lancet research is only the start of the story - we urgently need to know why Black women are at higher risk so we can find ways to change this. In the meantime, we're calling for better care from the start of pregnancy for Black women.

We support Tommy’s petition to change miscarriage care in the UK and we are working with them to ensure the recommendations from the Lancet publication are taken forward in Scotland.

The Lancet report MUST bring change!

🗣️ Nadia El-Nakla: "As someone who has suffered multiple miscarriages I welcome this and I truly feel really emotional that our hard work, the women who have suffered such loss...our losses have now led to change."

🎥 One of our lead campaigners, Nadia El-Nakla, reacts to the news that the SNP manifesto commits to delivering on our campaign's objectives to improve miscarriage care in Scotland.

🎥 Shona Robison, head of our campaign, welcomes the announcement that our campaign is now leading to change, with the SNP manifesto committing to develop and implement a Women’s Health Plan, aiming to improve services and reduce health inequalities for women and girls. The SNP manifesto commits to:

✅ Establish a dignified, compassionate miscarriage service tailored to the needs of women, taking forward the findings of The Lancet report and supporting the development of individualised care plans after a woman’s first miscarriage,

✅ Emulate New Zealand where families who experience miscarriage or stillbirth are entitled to 3 days of paid leave by delivering this within the public sector and calling on the UK Government to make the necessary changes to employment law to make it available for everyone,

✅ Review midwifery and health visiting pathways for new families and babies, improve access to practical breastfeeding support, physical therapy advice and increase postpartum and mental wellbeing support,

✅ Ensure maternity departments have dedicated facilities for women who are experiencing unexpected pregnancy complications,

✅ Reduce waiting times for diagnosing endometriosis from over 8 years to less than 12 months by the end of the parliament and look to improve the experience and diagnosis of women who visit their GPs with other menstrual problems,

Women are only being offered progesterone once they have had 3 consecutive miscarriages. Which is lot of heartache, mental stress, impact on the body and trauma. Being denied medicine is wrong, medicine that could save your pregnancy should be offered to women when the fetus has a heartbeat and their is bleeding in the pregnancy. Miscarriage care must be reformed.

Did you know that progesterone is an effective treatment for women who have early pregnancy bleeding and history of miscarriage?

If you have early pregnancy bleeding and have experience of miscarriage, you should request progesterone treatment. As many clinicians will not have heard of this very recent research we have developed a simple and clear infographic that you can bring with you to the doctor that clearly explains the benefits of the treatment: https://bit.ly/3tP7yrU

New Zealand approves paid leave for miscarriage 26/03/2021

It would be wonderful if Scotland became the third country in the World to adopt a similar policy.

A woman who shares loss of her baby should be praised and not trolled 04/10/2020

Heartbreaking 💔 but thank you to Chrissy Teigan and John Legend for being so brave and honest by sharing their heartbreak and pain.

Reading other people’s experience can really stir up your own pain therefore please access support, practise selfcare and be kind to yourself.

Today Chrissy Teigen shared the devastating news that she and her husband John Legend have lost their baby. In a heart-breaking social media post, Chrissy spoke about something so many parents sadly have to experience: leaving hospital without their baby. 💔

Choosing to share this experience and talking so openly at this stage in her grief takes a lot of courage, and we're so grateful that Chrissy is . We hope that she can take some comfort in knowing that she is helping thousands of women all over the world feel less alone.

"We are shocked and in the kind of deep pain you only hear about, the kind of pain we’ve never felt before. We were never able to stop the bleeding and give our baby the fluids he needed, despite bags and bags of blood transfusions. It just wasn’t enough.

We never decide on our babies’ names until the last possible moment after they’re born, just before we leave the hospital. But we, for some reason, had started to call this little guy in my belly Jack. So he will always be Jack to us. Jack worked so hard to be a part of our little family, and he will be, forever.

To our Jack - I’m so sorry that the first few moments of your life were met with so many complications, that we couldn’t give you the home you needed to survive. We will always love you."
