This was the night i made dinner for them and was surrounded by critics...
We are a family of cooks- aunts, cousins, my mom, my brother.. and that is except me, im focused on baking. I learned cooking by following procedures on magazines and cookbooks- that's how i started really. And more so by tasting and experimenting. Understanding each flavors so i could play and mingle it to my dishes...
Like what's shown in the picture... sugba is all familiar to us but i want flavors and aroma to it without overpowering the ginger and so.... it's a mixture of ginger, herbs, tomatoes, garlic, onion, olive oil, scallion, salt with lemon and pepper to taste.. and magic! It turned out good, they love it... my critics loved it!
The vegetable alone.. i want it less and healthy... just salt, pepper, and olive oil to a blanched vegetables....

CRISPY VEGETABLE FRITTERS
Quick to prepare, simply boil the carrots and broccoli, coat with flour and add egg, onion, salt and pepper. I added just a little salt since we have a dipping sauce.
For the sauce, i want to balance the sweetness of carrot with something tangy like tartar sauce. It's basically mayonnaise, pickled relish, lemon, and herbs, minus the capers since i dont have it in our pantry..
You can do a little experiment with other vegetables too... have a healthy breakfast today!

What we commonly do is simply add salt or cheese to give more flavor to scrambled egg but I was inspired by the simplicity and art of Japanese Cuisine which is known for umami and that enhances the flavor of each main ingredients .. I added nori strips and soy sauce to scrambled egg and simply stir-fried shrimps with scallions. And we all enjoy a healthy breakfast! ♥️
Our Chewy Crinkles.
It's true that every food has its story, its inspiration. We did numerous times to correct the recipe and now you have it- a chewy crinkle cookie... when wanting success, repeat it hundreds of times to achieve near perfection, put a generous amount of hardwork and dedication and not just a tablespoon but an extra cup of love and enthusiasm in the kitchen... :)
Read a couple of good cookbooks...
I keep a journal of tested and favorite recipes, jotting down helps me familiarize the procedures and you can add a few more notes and modifications as you experiment... I suggest you file it in a clear book, the next time you're in the kitchen and everything turns messy you can wipe off the pages easily...
For me to truly appreciate cooking, i grow my own food mainly sprouts, herbs and a few vegetable.
What's good about gardening is you can start to grow even on small space, you could place them in your kitchen window sill, recycled pots, sacks, there are many ideas on where to grow them. Like me, i recycle some pails and convert the old table as you can see...
Gardening is easy, needs great care and one of the healthiest hobby you can develop. Start anyway, you'll be glad you did...

Soak bread in lightly beaten egg and milk.
Melt butter in a frying pan. Cook bread on both sides until golden brown.

Started preparing stock at 12 noon today and another hour for cooking. For a heavy and flavorful stew, you may add pasta. Cute pasta :)
