Games of Thrones is an epic series that spans seven seasons. In our recent episode, (S:3 E:7), and discuss why .r._martin created a world that lacks ethnic diversity in positions of power and reduces the people of color to positions of slavery and savages.

Was this a culturally tone deaf oversight or a creative decision in attempts to reflect the real world?

Mixed Take is back with Season 3 and we have a new look!

During our first episode we talk all things Star Wars. There is no disputing the huge impact Star Wars has had across the galaxies. It is held dearly in the hearts of so many, especially those who grew up watching Star Wars. Robert Rivera and Doni Alicea are no exception. And yet, for so many years, Star Wars has lacked the cultural representation that a diverse galaxy deserves.

In this episode, we discuss both our love and frustration over this beloved franchise. And perhaps, in the days ahead, we'll see more of the Brown Side of the Force.

Mixed Take Recommendation!!!!

If you loved the Lord of the Rings (and possibly the Hobbit), this show will build on that. While it’s a stylistic departure from Peter Jackson’s adaptations, it embodies the spirit of a cinematic Middle Earth (and beyond), expanding both the world and the lore. The show rewards deep-cut Tolkien nerds with references to things like the two trees of Valinor (Telperion and Laurelin for the nerds) without alienating the average fan of the movie franchise. Based on the first 2 episodes, this should be a great show to watch.

Stream it on Prime Video beginning September 2
