October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month! To help spread awareness during the month of October, A New Hope Center is holding a virtual Purple Pumpkin Contest from September 29-October 26. We invite community members to get creative in helping spread awareness, hope, and joy by sharing your own purple pumpkins with us on social media. Paint your own pumpkin purple, draw or paint a picture, a chalk design, or design a purple pumpkin on the computer and tag us in your post/DM us! Whether you simply paint the pumpkin purple, cover it with creative patterns, or include information to spread awareness about domestic violence, we encourage all tasteful and sensitive submissions. Small prizes will be given out at the end of the month for specific categories, and the winners will be notified over social media, unless otherwise specified in your submission. A New Hope Center, located on 20 Church St. in Owego, will be giving out a limited supply of pumpkins, donated by Country Wagon Produce, for free until they run out. Please contact ANHC at 607-687-6887 before coming to pick one up.
