Once you recognize your beliefs as simply beliefs, you move from confusion ๐Ÿคจ to clarity ๐Ÿค. We each carry so many of these imprints that we can consciously work on to dissolve and evolve ๐Ÿ’ž.

Most of us carry cultural impressions that we don't give much thought to, but when you come across something that makes you feel reactive/defensive, don't just ignore it; bring that idea inward ๐Ÿ”Ž and explore it; turn it outward and research it from a place of curiosityโ€”not egoโ€”and follow where facts, fairness, justice โš–๏ธ and truth lead.

Expanding ๐Ÿ’ซ our own consciousness and allowing for personal evolution is how we grow. Itโ€™s how we change the world. ๐Ÿ’ž

Ask yourself today:

๐Ÿ”นWhat beliefs do I hold? How are they serving me and the world? ๐ŸŒŽ

๐Ÿ”นHow did I come to hold these beliefs? Did I consciously form them myself or were they handed down to me by tradition, society, culture, family? ๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐Ÿ‘งโ€๐Ÿ‘ฆ

๐Ÿ”นAre any of the beliefs I hold causing division in society? Do they create an Us vs. Them mentality? โž—

๐Ÿ”นHave I been conditioned through fear-based tactics to hold any of the beliefs I have? Am I free to question them? To reject them? ๐Ÿค”

๐Ÿ”นHow can I adjust my beliefs to better align with reality and to support the world at large? ๐Ÿ’˜

Nervous system regulation is tricky because precisely when we need it the most, our bodies are being flooded with the hormones that move us into fight ๐Ÿคบ-or-flight ๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿฝmode.

We are literally pulsing with the energy necessary to run away from, or fight, a threat.

Itโ€™s difficult to focus ๐Ÿซฃ in the moment when weโ€™re poised to *act*. It's not just a mental thing, it's physiological. If we donโ€™t use that energy, we feel jittery, on edge, anxious.
The key ๐Ÿ”‘ is mindfulness.

Pay attention.

Are you *actually* in real danger?

Most of the time weโ€™re not. Weโ€™ve merely worked ourselves up into a state of stress over a perceived threat:

โ€”a deadline ๐Ÿ“†
โ€”a traffic jam ๐Ÿš—๐Ÿš•๐Ÿš™
โ€”an argument ๐Ÿ˜ 
โ€”a delayed flight โœˆ๏ธ, etc.

Our lives arenโ€™t actually threatened by these events but our reptilian๐ŸฆŽ brain ๐Ÿง  doesnโ€™t know that. It canโ€™t discern between an actual threat and a perceived threat. To keep you safe it responds the same.

Thatโ€™s where our cognitive ๐Ÿง brain has to take over. Know that youโ€™re safe and remind your nervous system of that by giving it the gift ๐Ÿ’ of regulation.

You donโ€™t always have to immediately relax, either. Itโ€™s perfectly ok to burn off that energy by exercising ๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธor yelling ๐Ÿ˜ค first. But then remind yourself that youโ€™re safe and guide your body gently into that safety. ๐Ÿ’
