My mind was on so many issues at work yesterday, I failed to recognize International Fire Fighters day. Please take time to say thank you to those who selflessly serve our communities by laying there lives on the line that we may live in safety.
Good Afternoon. ABCAP will be offering free food to anyone in need today. The will begin distribution at 1:00 PM today March 17. They will distribute until the run out. They are located at 406 W. Plum Street in Georgetown. Please share and and let those you know need it aware.
Georgetown residents. This Covid took a lot from us all year. What are some good functions we could put together and re-unite our community and bring it together for the good of us all. We need to do more for the community as a whole. We have a great community and we can make it better

GEORGETOWN CHRISTMAS PARADE:::: We haven't had much response on getting new participants in Saturday's parade. Please share and see if we can find more entries for the Christmas Parade. We had so many people in the past ask for the Parade be moved to a night parade instead of an early afternoon parade and that has been done so we need to support it and keep it going. If you have any group or your business or would like to enter your antique car, truck or tractor, please give Estill Newberry, Georgetown Fire and EMS, a call at 513-383-8935. He along with Barb Ashmore and other fire department members have worked hard to put this together for our community. I have heard so many people say Georgetown doesn't have enough public events for its citizens. Well, this is planned and the idea is to grow it each year into a great Christmas celebration for us all. We have to support the events in order for them to happen. Unfortunately, due to last weekend's weather, Mt. Orab rescheduled their parade to coincide with Georgetown's. There have been entries pull out of our parade to attend Mt. Orab's so we are looking for entries to fill our parade route. The goal is to expand this celebration and make it a big event for all of Georgetown but that can't happen without the support of the entire community so let's do what we do best and rally around this weekend's celebration and make it successful. Please share and help make this celebration happen and make it successful. .
If anyone has Christmas Decorations they want to part with at the end of the season, please let me know. I would like to start collecting them to use for the Village Christmas festivities next year. I would love to see us turn this into Christmas town every December.
Happy Thanksgiving Georgetown. Enjoy your day. I am thankful to live here among you all.
Georgetown Residents:: I am considering asking council to purchase or allow us to try to raise funds for a large Christmas Tree to be placed in the Bicentennial park each year. The Fire Department hosts the Christmas Parade and i was thinking in conjunction with them, a public Christmas Tree lighting and a community night on the square featuring all our businesses. People could potentially shop locally that evening and purchase Christmas gifts etc. Any thoughts on this idea and who would support helping raise funds for a tree. I haven't priced one yet but I am thinking something like the Cincinnati Zoo Artificial tree.
Remember Nancy Montgomery on Election Day. Take the time to look at her page and compare the work she has done to other candidates on the ballot. I must be honest. When I first met Nancy we clashed politically and I told myself I would never be able to work with her. Turns out I was more wrong than I have ever been. There is no other candidate on the ballot that is more willing to actually hear what we have to say. There is no candidate more willing to have a discussion and compromise with you to make positive things happen. There is no candidate willing to research every topic that comes before council and there is certainly no candidate that has put the effort in to moving this community forward as she has. I would ask you to consider giving Nancy your support and you will know you have a voice in Village government.
There will be a planned electric service interruption on November 8, 2019 from 1:00AM to 6:00AM. Duke Energy will be replacing electric jumper wires on the 69,000 volt lines which feed two of our substations. Postcards have been sent to those properties which we expect to be impacted. The attached map (also available at this link: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1ZGDt_QWSfbu_ZjCJuQbv7tsSJEuUyZbM&usp=sharing) shows the impacted area. We will arrange for a warming station by request of any affected property owner. We apologize for the inconvenience.
Life-or-death vote on fire/EMS funding approaches Georgetown Irreversible brain damage can happen within 6-8 minutes of a medical emergency, Georgetown fire Chief Joe Rockey said Wednesday night. If a new local ballot issue passes, people in his village might not see an ambulance for 40.
What if you call 911 and no one comes? Inside the collapse of America’s EMS services. Across the country, rural EMS systems are hanging on by a thread, putting up to 60 million Americans at risk of being stranded in a medical emergency.

Are you looking for a council member to work hard and be an active participant in Georgetown Council issues? Are you looking for a council member that listens and is willing to compromise with the other members of council to reach good solutions for our village? Are you looking for a council member that is willing to work to find grants and get projects done in our village? Are you looking for a council member that educates herself on the issues this village faces? Are you looking for a council member that is happy to sit down and talk to the residents of this community at any time?
If you answered yes to any of the above, then Nancy Montgomery is your candidate. Go back through the Village face book videos and watch the interactions of council. It is easy to see Nancy is the current candidate for re-election and deserves it because of her willingness and ability to work for us all not just those that voted for her in the last election. Nancy is willing to put good decisions for the Village over votes.
Please take the time to talk to Nancy Montgomery and ask her questions you may have about about our community. Take time to listen to her and you will understand that she understands our village and what her job requires.
Georgetown Residents:: We have an important race for Mayor going on right now. Dale Cahall is our current Mayor and has been involved in many good things in this Village over the past several years. His opponent, MIke Mays is promising to bring the power back to the people and rebuild and revitalize our community. These are all things Mayor Cahall has been doing and will continue to do.
Mayor Cahall has worked hard on the following..
1. Securing two (2) grants through the Ohio Budget Commission to revitalize the Gaslight Theater and the Administration Building. These grants totaled over $500,000.00.
2. He worked with Health Source to secure the purchase of land and a new structure in our town to provide heath care to the under served. This created more jobs in our community.
3. He worked to help market and secure the sale and revitalization of the former Southwest Regional Medical Center. The building is now the site of Georgetown Behavioral Hospital and will provide 100 jobs as a 49 bed facility and when all phases of the building have been remodeled it will be a 110 bed facility with nearly 400 employees. This is a major win for us all.
3 He oversaw the replacement and upgrade of a failing downtown water system. The old system was undersized and had dangerously low pressures for fire suppression and drinking water.
4. He has oversaw the yearly paving projects and worked to bring our roadways up to standard and keep them passable.
5. He worked with the Community Investment Corporation to secure a deal with Merchant's Bank to revitalize the property where the major fire in the historic district occurred years ago. Take a look at that corner now It is beautiful and has changed the landscape of our beautiful Village.
5. The park has been upgraded and cared for under his watch and under the watch of this council, especially Nancy Montgomery. We have one of the nicest and used parks in the area.
6. He has worked to have upgrades made to our electrical grid and to bring it up to current standards and performance.
Mayor Cahall is a dedicated servant and truly loves this community. He has made it his goal to be accessible to the residents of this community and he will continue to work hard for this community. Dale Cahall is honest and his integrity is second to none. A vote for Dale Cahall is a vote for the continued pursuit of a successful, beautiful, and prosperous Georgetown.
On November 5th, I hope you will vote for me to serve on the G.E.V.S. Board of Education.
No matter how you vote in the school board race please vote NO on the Fire and EMS reduction.
Georgetown Fire and EMS has been a great partner with Georgetown Schools. They show up to sporting events so they are in place to quickly respond to the needs of injured student athletes. I have witnessed them in action at a couple of events. They show up at the elementary school to educate students about safety and allow them to see and interact on and near the equipment. I'm sure there is much more unseen activities that contribute to our daily security and education.
Our town WILL lose a significant safety protection if we lose our current full-time/part-time/volunteer Fire and EMS system. Again Please Vote NO.
TODAY is your last chance to register to vote! It's simple and takes very little time. Go online or visit the Brown County Board of Elections on Mt. Orab Pike in Georgetown!

Folks there s lot of important issues in this community right now. We need leaders that are engaged and understand the importance of their roles and are willing to speak for ALL of us and not just those they think voted for them last time. Make your voice heard and VOTE. My candidates are are shown because I know they will work hard to represent and move this town forward. Not asking you to vote because I am and I am asking you to contact these candidates and ask your own questions. Don’t vote by name recognition only, vote for knowledge, experience and willingness to work hard for you.
I want my candidates to be willing to publicly say what they stand for and tell us their ideas for the office they seek. What do want to see from your candidates?
