Sen. Katung Launches 2nd Phase Of Scholarship Award.

The Senator representing Kaduna South Senatorial District and founder of the Marshall Katung Foundation (MKF), Sen. Barr. Sunday Marshall Katung has approved the commencement of the second batch of the Foundation's scholarship/bursary scheme for indigent students of higher institutions from his senatorial district.

One of the key objectives of the foundation is to encourage and support financially disadvantaged students in their pursuit of higher education through scholarship/bursary awards.

It also includes restoring hope among students who are at the verge of giving up on their studies, due to their inability to pay their tuition fees, as a result of economic and financial hardships.

Drawing from the wisdom of the Chinese proverb that says, if you are planning for a year, sow rice; if you are planning for a decade, plant trees; if you are planning for a lifetime, educate people, it is this vision that has inspired supporting education of students in Southern Kaduna communities to safeguard the future and engender sustainable development.

The efforts have long been ongoing and includes educational support at the local governments through the building and rehabilitation of schools and vocational centers; Free JAMB Form initiatives; provision of books and computers to secondary schools, scholarship schemes, amongst others.

The Foundation aims to make education not just appealing but also affordable to all our willing children.

In this new batch of scholarship, deserving undergraduate students will be meritoriously selected by a committee of noble men and women which comprise of Academicians, lawyers, civil society, Journalists and leaders of community associations.

To this end, the Marshall Katung Foundation is hereby inviting interested undergraduate students from the eight Local Government Areas of Kaduna South Senatorial District studying across public higher institutions in Nigeria to apply for this year's scholarship/bursary award.

The portal opens from Friday 25th August, 2023 and closes midnight Thursday 31st August 2023.

Happy Democracy Day!
Democracy they say is a game of interest, many also hold the foundation of no morality in democracy as postulated by Nicolo Machiavelli. As these opinions could be valid, it can also be reconsider.

Interest is important, of course that's where the pride of the electorates dwells. Now, who is your interest? Is it going to be partisan or in regard to an individual? In anyways, both could go for Barr. Sunday Marshall Katung.

It is important to note that this goes beyond mere assumptions; It is a process and a spirit, it is a house of political reasoning and ideas, it is the house of political, social and individual responsibility.

In light of the above, let me conclude with the words of the greatest American Jury Oliver Wendel Holmes who posited and I paraphrase; Responsibility can be found in the social and political nature and most of all in the character of man.

What is the character of Barr. Sunday Marshall Katung? Examine his political and social life and trust him with your mandate.

Appreciation.

Let me start by thanking God Almighty for making everything possible.

I also want to express my sincere gratitude to the loyal friends, supporters and well-wishers who immensely invested their time, efforts and resources during the campaign for the primary election of Kaduna South senatorial district. The result, while indicative of our acceptance is also humbling. That so many people believed in us and our collective desire for southern Kaduna is both challenging and inspiring.

However, this victory is not for me, but for the whole Southern Kaduna people, especially those who competed with me.

I want to thank Senator Danjuma Laah for his service to the good people of Kaduna south senatorial district. Sir, you have left a robust legacy of representation that we must improve upon.

My gratitude to Hon. Nicolas Shehu Garba Sarkinnoma and Jagaba Adams Jagaba for their dedicated service to our people. To Hon Samson Monday Dikko, Hon Suleiman Dauke and Barr Mark Jacob, this victory is to us all because when Southern Kaduna wins, we also win.

The general elections stand before us and I extend my hands of friendship for a synergised effort that would concretise our collective victory for the sake of our people. What our district needs at these challenging times is our unity to ensure its continuing survival and growth.

While we prepare for the general elections, I thank all our supporters for everything and plead that our jubilation should be moderate and respectful.

Obstruction of justice is a crime in some certain laws most especially when trying to attain a remarkable judgment in criminal justice.

Today, we are not going to apply the obstruction of justice as crime against certain laws but in terms of humanity and empathy. In the political race of installing justice in southern Kaduna come 2023, we only have one "Justice" to install and that is Barr. Sunday Marshall Katung.

Citizens of Southern Kaduna engaged in conflicting arguments and opinions on who the mantle of leadership fits. We are apt and certain that the people of southern Kaduna knows what's best and most needing for them - in this context, their decision ought to be respected. But before their final decision, they need to speculate on this assertion: Sunday Marshall Katung is not just a leader but a Servant leader, we call him a Chief servant, he leads with all amour of integrity, justice, empathy, equality and equity, selflessness, and maximum understanding of the people's will.

The sympathy of a man drives his actions and commitment.

Today is a special day for Barr. Sunday Marshall Katung, his ever remain committed soul was brought to being on this day April 1, to change the status quo of his suffering district which for ages couldn't enjoy the peace and security that they desire.

His birthday celebration will not take precedence from the previous ones, considering the ills of insecurities and massacre that befall his people (Southern Kaduna). To respect times of which fate places on us all, Katung's birthday celebration shall be taken to the door step of widows in some key places of southern Kaduna as well as the orphanage homes. The believe that a nation is ruled by sympathy of the time frame is one of his tenets.

This is one of the most trying moment in the history of this nation, we have to share in the fate of the nation even as we remain hopeful for a better tomorrow.

With that been mentioned, the team kindly made this portrait of SMK as a birthday gift, sketched by Adole Mycah Micah a student of V.C.A Federal University of lafia. This is one of the hundreds of thousands of southern kaduna youths with aesthetic creativity and we are glad to support Barr. Sunday Marshall Katung journey for a better, secured and conducive Southern Kaduna.
