It’s been a busy month for private sessions!! And I am SO grateful for the amazing people I get to work with💗
I love hearing your stories… I love witnessing your strengths as they unfold.
Trust and believe you already have everything you need to start this journey…
Pilates checks so many boxes for people… Could it be your missing link??? 🔗🔗🔗
Come over. We’ll figure it out together. 💗
Just because your doctors haven’t found the root cause - doesn’t mean there isn’t one.
Just because you’ve exhausted so many options - doesn’t mean you’re bound to a life of hopelessness.
And if you feel like the same pains, tensions, and discomforts are 𝘴𝘵𝘪𝘭𝘭 nagging -
then maybe your body is 𝘴𝘵𝘪𝘭𝘭 begging YOU to figure it out.
Trust I know it’s been a long road already… and just the thought of 𝘵𝘳𝘺𝘪𝘯𝘨 can be overwhelming.
But you don’t have to figure this one out on your own…
👉🏼 especially when you KNOW your body better than anyone else.
Come to Pilates. I will have answers. 💗
We will figure it out together. 💞
RIP Penny Simkin 🩷 You made such a difference.
Penny Simkin, ‘Mother of the Doula Movement,’ Dies at 85 As a childbirth educator and maternal advocate, she promoted a profession that provides comfort to women giving birth and offers postpartum care as well.
Peanut butter with EXTRA Jelly sandwich and Pilates; it’s a love language. 💗🥜💜
Everyday is V-Day when you’re a Doula and a Pilates instructor. Think about it… 💕🤣
Sending love to anyone that needs/wants/deserves it today and everyday! 😘😘😘
Okay first of all YES there can be medically necessary reasons to have an IV placed during labor and you should 100% know what those reasons are long before you arrive to the hospital.
But typically speaking if you have a healthy pregnancy and a healthy baby - then you very much have a CHOICE in this matter.
🎤But real quick *PSA* I am not here to argue this topic or to go over the pros/cons/risks/benefits of having an IV placed during labor 👉🏼 That is 💯 up to YOU to research long before your estimated due date.
I am here to help you identify 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗲𝗻𝘀𝘂𝗮𝗹 𝘃𝘀. 𝗻𝗼𝗻-𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗲𝗻𝘀𝘂𝗮𝗹 𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗴𝘂𝗮𝗴𝗲 when navigating your hospital birth.
Because even though the above phrase might be someone’s best and most genuine attempt to be “𝘩𝘦𝘭𝘱𝘧𝘶𝘭” to you..
The TRUTH is that this type of suggestive language can actually be 𝘩𝘢𝘳𝘮𝘧𝘶𝘭 to your birthing experience and heres why:
It is NOT informed consent. 🚩🚩🚩
And trust me - the last thing you want to do on your birthing day is mistake a stranger’s opinion for a fact and make a decision based off of it.
You and your birth partner MUST learn to identify 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗲𝗻𝘀𝘂𝗮𝗹 𝘃𝘀. 𝗻𝗼𝗻-𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗲𝗻𝘀𝘂𝗮𝗹 𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗴𝘂𝗮𝗴𝗲 when navigating your hospital birth because if you don’t 👉🏼 you might walk out of there feeling totally violated or helpless simply because you were not given the option to make any informed decisions, nor did you know the right questions to ask.
So keep in mind just because language “sounds nice” or “seems reasonable” or comes from a medical professional’s mouth-
Does NOT mean it is informed consent.
It’s your body and your choices. Always. ❤️
There’s something about braving the elements that makes me feel alive.
It’s never as bad once I’m out there.
And I never feel bad for trying.
In fact, I always feel better.
✅Moved my body.
✅Made the cinnamon rolls.
✅Enjoyed the cinnamon rolls.
Hey baby. How’d we all get here? 🥰🥰

Hi everyone. December was oh so lovely. 🥰.
New year, same evidence. And we know it just keeps getting better. Do I think everyone "needs" a doula? No, I don't. But if you're considering one for any reason at all... then I'm happy for you.
Evidence on: Doulas A birth doula is a companion who supports a birthing person during labor and birth. What is the evidence for using a doula?
“Employees on Walmart’s medical plan can receive assistance from a Doula with coverage up to $1,000 per pregnancy.” 📣📣📣
LOVE TO SEE IT!! 👏🏼 👏🏼 👏🏼 The statistics don’t lie - Doula’s improve birth outcomes, period. And we’re here to stay. 💜💜💜
Check it out!
Walmart expands nationwide health care coverage for those employees who want doulas during pregnancy NEW YORK (AP) — Walmart, the nation’s largest private employer, is expanding nationwide its health care coverage next month for employees who want to enlist the services of a doula, a person …
When you manifest your greatest strengths; your greatest strengths you shall become.
Start by taking your physical body to places where you feel comfortable, vulnerable, and at ease.
Then allow your mind to relish in the sensations that make you feel connected and synergistic with your baby.
You will start believing in your ability to birth, when you come face to face with your inner doubts and fears.
You will learn to feel safe and assured once you fully and completely understand your birthing anatomy.
You will also learn how to let go and surrender to each unknown as it comes…
and all while acknowledging your fears have already long passed you by. 😌
Dear birthing person I want you to know,
You can BREATHE freely,
You can CHOOSE fierce-fully.
You can BIRTH fearlessly and know;
You only get ONE chance to meet your baby for the first time and -
You must give yourself permission to do it YOUR WAY, and 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘸𝘢𝘺 𝘰𝘯𝘭𝘺.
Believe in your ability to birth your baby because you will. You absolutely WILL.
👋🏼 Out here enjoying summer 2023 and always thinking about my amazing clients and the beautiful birth stories that have yet to come. You teach me as much as I teach you.☀️🌊🌬️
Get you a doula who isn’t afraid to get her hands dirty…
(POV when mom says “someone take him he’s pooping all over me!” 🤣)

The thing about childbirth that no one really seems to mention is -
it’s literally been happening since the beginning of time.
And to think that birth is often perceived as some “scary” or “emergent” process that needs to be “managed”…
is absolutely absurd. 👀
The truth is:
💜 Your labor will begin on its own.
💜 You will labor comfortably when you feel safe.
💜Your anatomy is freakin’ incredible!
💜You do not have to fear this experience.
👉🏼 You only get 𝘰𝘯𝘦 𝘤𝘩𝘢𝘯𝘤𝘦 to birth your baby and you 𝘥𝘦𝘴𝘦𝘳𝘷𝘦 to feel joyful, empowered, and respected throughout the 𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘪𝘳𝘦 process.
Believe in birth. It’s your rite of passage. 💖

And I know this because I was in their homes teaching them them intimate childbirth education.
I know this because I served them with my own hands prenatally, during labor, and postpartum.
I know this because I advocated for them with my voice, and I made sure they were not harmed.
You see, I started to make this post somewhat facetiously…
But in my professional opinion birth work should really about the QUALITY of services being offered;
Not about the number of 𝘣𝘪𝘳𝘵𝘩𝘴 being attended
Not about the number of 𝘩𝘰𝘶𝘳𝘴 being put into our clients
Not about displaying the roller coaster of emotions WE might experience while attending SOMEONE ELSE’S birth (this one really gets me… 🤢)
And the “hustle” we put into supporting our sacred birthing people, should not be glorified.
The amount of births we attend do not make us better or more qualified for the job, TRUST and believe.
It’s the QUALITY of the services we offer, and our ability to protect our clients at all costs, at all times, and in all environments.
So Like I said… 100% of my clients had informed and empowered birthing experiences in 2022.
And I’m 100% sure the same thing is about to happen in 2023.
𝗤𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆.
Don’t be fooled by the foolish numbers out there.
THE END
🙂 It’s been a WONDERFUL year filled with the most dedicated clients who worked hard to have 𝘪𝘯𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘮𝘦𝘥 and 𝘦𝘮𝘱𝘰𝘸𝘦𝘳𝘦𝘥 birth experiences.
🙏🏻 From being invited into someones birth space to supporting them through a most transformational moment in time, is always a humbling experience that I never take for granted.
💜 It is an honor to provide my clients with hours of intimate childbirth education so they can have the informed and empowered birth experiences they 𝘥𝘦𝘴𝘦𝘳𝘷𝘦.

Did you hear the news? “In 2023, Michigan Medicaid will begin reimbursing for doula services provided to individuals covered by or eligible for Medicaid Insurance.” Share the news with those who can benefit from Doula Services!🎉
I rarely get pictures of myself attending births because well … I’m usually the one taking pictures! 😝. But here’s a recent selfie of me transporting my very first placenta to make ART for a client! 🎨
Here’s to trying new things…. 🥳
I am super stoked to be attending this webinar today with Dr. Rebecca Decker with Evidence Based Birth!! ❤️🧬 😍

GREAT NEWS!! I just heard Spectrum Health is allowing children/siblings back in the birthing rooms!! (during visiting hours only) So be SURE to ASK your provider for the most updated policies! 📣📣📣
You can stay hopeful if it’s helpful, but if it’s not- let’s breathe and talk about it.
Thanks to .simkin we know there’s a difference between pain and suffering during childbirth.
During our appointments together we cover how to breathe for less painful contractions and discuss the perception of pain, in depth.
What you experience during childbirth MATTERS.
And you will not be traumatized this time around, not as long as I’m your doula. 💜

Another Independence Day is about to go down in the books for America…
And I’m here to tell you -
our freedoms are flawed,
and your independence as a birthing person-is subjective.
And if there’s one more thing I can scream from the rooftops real quick…
it’s that you only get ONE chance to birth your baby-
so don’t let anyone else tell you how to do it,
or 𝘯𝘰𝘵 do it for that matter.
Your body. Your pregnancy. Your choice.
Period.

FOR REAL 🚩
📣 We have an important PSA in light of holiday weekends coming up in multiple countries this weekend 📣
It’s true! Check it out Evidence Based Birth
While I support many birthing people in the hospital, (and will continue to do so) I am here to tell you that hospital births seem to be getting more and more dangerous every single day.
My BEST advice? Don’t even walk in there without a doula. Period. Obstetric violence is ever so present.
There, Weill Cornell Medicine, we fixed it for you.
Thanks to Ashe Birthing Services and The Taproot Doula Project for bringing this letter to our attention.
This is not informed consent. This is obstetric violence.
