UNDERSTAND FATIGUE WITH A HAIR TISSUE MINERAL ANALYSIS TEST

Minerals do not work alone but in balance with one another, if one is out of balance either deficient or in excess, it can affect how others are utilised within the body, which can result in compromised health.

Two such minerals which work closely with one another are SODIUM and POTASSIUM, these macro-nutrients represent the VITALITY RATIO and are both crucial to our wellbeing.

Our cells have a sodium-potassium pump which maintains a healthy communication between our cells and thus our organs. If the ratio of sodium to potassium within the body is out of balance either too high or too low, a person may experience symptoms such as fatigue, adrenal weakness, reduced immune response, impaired detox, allergies, digestive issues, pain and inflammation, depression and more.

Imbalances can be caused by mental, emotional, physical or nutritional stress, as this is the first ratio to act to stressors of any kind. A HAIR TISSUE MINERAL ANALYSIS TEST is a quick and easy way to assess any imbalances in these two important players in the ‘mineral dance’. Once imbalances are corrected with nutrition and/or lifestyle changes, health conditions including energy levels can improve.

These two minerals are also strongly connected with the health of the Adrenals and Thyroid which I will cover in a later post. Heavy metals may also affect the VITALITY RATIO and any excesses of these will also show up on a HTMA test.

This is a list of our amazing homeobotanical range!!
Please message me if your would like more information about the herbs contained within each blend and how they may help you.
I will be sharing a list of the homeoherbal range soon ☯️

HOMEOBOTANICAL THERAPY is a natural form of therapy developed in New Zealand in 1984 by Dr Brian Murray.

Homeobotanicals (Hbs) are powerful synergistic blends of organic herbal extracts and tinctures, which are diluted and dynamised in the homeopathic manner. This therapy is NOT herbalism and it is NOT homeopathy but a unique combination of the two healing disciplines which work together on both a physical and energetic level.

Combining the physical herbal content in homeobotanical therapy together with the energetic sucussion of homeopathy results in a powerful remedy that increases and enhances therapeutic results and gets to the ‘CORE’ of a problem more quickly, be it on a physical, emotional or spiritual level.

Each blend consists of a combination of herbs selectively chosen to target specific organs and systems in the body. They gently assist to clean out the body of all toxins ingested, inhaled and absorbed, allowing it to function more efficiently. Detoxification is often the first step in the healing process, especially for chronic conditions. When the toxins have been removed from the body, a nutritional blend of herbs can be individually selected to encourage the body to regain balance. These herbal combinations work in synergy with one another creating a more profound healing experience.

HOMEOBOTANICAL REMEDIES HAVE FOUR DISTINCT ACTIONS WITHIN THE BODY:

PHYSICAL - includes organ drainage or the stimulation of release of toxins from specific areas of the body.

NUTRITIONAL - assists in the assimilation of vitamins, minerals, enzymes and other micronutrients in a person’s diet as well as providing a rich combination of these nutrients supplied by the herbs themselves.

SYNERGISTIC - supports and reinforces other healing techniques being employed as the homeobotanicals maintain balance within the body.

DYNAMIC - arising from homeopathic potentisation which enables the remedies to directly stimulate healing within the body.

HOMEOBOTANICAL REMEDIES COVER A COMPREHENSIVE RANGE OF CONDITIONS, INCLUDING:

Allergies, anxiety, arthritis, asthma, brain fog, breathing difficulties, circulation, cramps, coughs and colds, digestive issues, eczema, fertility, food intolerances, hay fever, hormonal imbalance, inflammation, insomnia, joint/muscle pain, menopause, migraines, mood swings, nausea, nutritional deficiencies, piles, PMS, skin conditions, tiredness, varicose veins, viruses, worms/parasites, yeast infections and more.

HOMEOHERBALS (HHs) are made in the U.K. with organic (wherever possible) herbs and were developed to support and supplement the HOMEOBOTANICAL range. They are made in the same unique way as the homeobotanicals and can be added to a Hb remedy mix or used as a stand-alone therapy to support a person’s health. HomeoHerbals are almost completely vegan with one exception being bee gum.

HOMEOBOTANICAL AND HOMEOHERBAL THERAPY is a safe and effective healing for the whole family and can be used alongside any other treatments and medication. The remedies can also be made into ointments and washes to be used topically.

RESTORE HEALTH NATURALLY WITH HOMEOBOTANICAL AND HOMEOHERBAL THERAPY!

INSULIN RESISTANCE, also known as prediabetes is the most common health disorder world-wide and is present in almost every chronic disease. Unfortunately, many people live with this condition unknowingly for years. If you are experiencing symptoms of either insulin resistance or type 2 diabetes, the good news is that both these conditions can be prevented or reversed with dietary and lifestyle changes.

HOW INSULIN WORKS IN THE BODY

Insulin is a hormone that is naturally produced in our bodies, made in the pancreas, it regulates blood glucose levels, alongside the metabolism of fat and protein. When foods are consumed that increase blood glucose, such as carbohydrates, insulin is released from the pancreas to prompt the cells to remove the sugar from the blood to be used by various parts of the body, such as the brain, heart, muscles and fat tissue. When blood sugar drops, cortisol (a hormone which maintains blood glucose levels), is released to produce blood sugar. High cortisol in the blood vessel is inflammatory and will damage the lining of the blood vessel. Prolonged high carbohydrate consumption, causing continual highs and lows in blood sugar levels, can upset the insulin release mechanism, resulting in insulin resistance.

Insulin resistance means the cells become less sensitive to the effects of insulin; the pancreas then produces more insulin which causes blood levels of insulin to become higher than normal. Sustained high glucose levels in the blood are dangerous, even potentially lethal, that is why we need our cells to be sensitive to insulin to enable this glucose to be moved out of the blood. Insulin in itself is toxic to the body and to successfully address type 2 diabetes, we need to address the insulin resistance and not just focus on reducing sugar. If left untreated insulin resistance can lead to type II diabetes, cardiovascular disease and other health threatening conditions.

When a person is tested for diabetes, mainly blood glucose levels are used as a marker for diagnosis, when actually insulin levels are of more importance. Type 1 and 2 diabetes both share the same symptoms of excess glucose but this is where the similarity ends. Type 1 diabetes is caused by having too little insulin (or none), whereby type 2 diabetes is caused by having too much, they are completely different diseases and should be treated as such. Most medications for type 2 diabetes act by partly elevating insulin, which creates more insulin resistance, the key is to lower levels and make the body more responsive to its own insulin. Insulin is also known as the fat storage hormone, therefore when insulin is high, there will normally be weight gain. This is why people with type 1 diabetes, low or no insulin find it hard to put on weight (unless they are taking prescribed insulin) and people with type 2 diabetes, too much insulin, often find it hard to lose weight.

Alongside relevant blood tests, a Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis can also prove helpful to determine the ‘blood sugar ratio’ which is the calcium to magnesium ratio. This is because calcium is needed for the release of insulin from the pancreas and magnesium if needed to keep calcium in check. A high ratio suggests increased insulin secretion while a low ratio indicates normal or reduced insulin secretion.

Healing the gut can have a huge impact on your wellbeing. If you suffer from unresolved gut issues you may benefit from a Gastrointestinal Microbial Assay Plus (GI MAP) – This test is an indicator of digestion, absorption, inflammation and immune function. It can determine underlying causes of issues such as digestive complaints (diarrhoea/constipation), small intestinal bacterial overgrowth, irritable bowel syndrome, irritable bowel disease, celiac, crohns and colitis, autoimmune disease, brain fog, skin problems (acne/psoriasis), mood disorders (depression/anxiety), ADHD, autism, diabetes and weight loss issues. This is achieved by accurately testing a single stool sample for specific bacteria, fungus, candida, viruses, parasites and normal flora (probiotic bacteria) and can give a good indication if any of these factors are contributing to symptoms experienced. Below is a sample of a GI MAP test. On receiving a persons test results back from the laboratory, I am able to analyse these results and prepare a personalized treatment protocol/nutrition plan to address any gut dysfunction and specific requirements. Please message me if you would like more information about this test.☯️

FEELING DEPLETED OF ENERGY?
ARE YOU EATING RIGHT FOR YOUR OXIDATION TYPE?

There are two main oxidation types: -

A SLOW OXIDISER - This person metabolises food more slowly resulting in a slow release of energy and an accumulation of sedative minerals (calcium and magnesium). Symptoms experienced can include fatigue, depression, insomnia, hypothyroidism, constipation, cold hands and feet, gastric ulcers, arthritis, low blood pressure.

A FAST OXIDISER - This person metabolises food more quickly resulting in a fast release of energy and a depletion of sedative minerals (calcium and magnesium). Symptoms experienced can include anxiety, irritability, nervousness, allergies (high histamine levels), duodenal ulcers, muscle cramps, hyperthyroid, warm body temperature, high blood pressure.

Each oxidation type requires a different diet to balance the oxidation state which is key to improving health. A slow oxidiser will require more low GI carbohydrates and adequate protein which will help to release energy more quickly, whereby a fast oxidiser will require more healthy fats and high purine protein to slow down the release of energy. When the oxidation rate becomes balanced, cellular energy production will increase and physical and emotional symptoms will improve.

THE OXIDATION RATIO is determined by specific minerals: -

Calcium:Potassium ratio which is the thyroid ratio
Sodium:Magnesium ratio which is the adrenal ratio

The adrenal and thyroid are the main energy producing glands in the body and are a major regulator of metabolic rate. If either of these ratios is high or low, there will be energy loss as the efficiency of energy production in the body decreases. These glands regulate nutrient absorption, excretion, metabolic utilization, and incorporation into the tissues of the body, the skin, organs, bone, hair and nails. How efficiently each nutrient is utilized depends largely upon proper functioning of the endocrine glands.

The science of nutritional balancing using Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis was developed in the 1970's by Dr Eck and Dr Watts. A HTMA test detects how the body is functioning at a cellular level and is much more accurate than a blood test.

For testing a hair sample, I use Mineral Check, who are Trace Elements Inc. official distributor here in the UK, which is the lab developed by Dr Watts and one of only a couple that specialises in HTMA and follow all proper testing proceedures. Below is a sample test which shows the mineral status and nutritional metabolic activity of a person over the last 3 months, revealing any deficiencies, excesses, metal toxicities and/or imbalances caused by diet, stress and toxins and what effect they are having on body systems. The test can give an insight into digestive disorders, thyroid imbalances, adrenal function (energy issues), blood sugar imbalances, psychological and emotional stress, anxiety, depression, insomnia and much more.

As a practitioner I am able to derive a host of information from this raw data about a persons health. After analysing this data, together with a completed Health Profile Form, which gives me a better understanding of a clients health status, I am able to prepare a tailored nutrition plan to target any specific mineral requirements, supplementation and/or detox plan needed.

The thyroid is a critical gland in the body and plays a vital role in metabolism. If you are currently experiencing symptoms of an underactive thyroid (hypothyroidism) or an overactive thyroid (hyperthyroidism), making changes to your diet may be the first step to improving your health. The Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis is also a great test to evaluate calcium and potassium levels, which are both critical for thyroid health. Please message me if you would like recommendations on how to support the health of your thyroid. ☯️

Digestion starts with the CEPHALIC PHASE (senses), have you ever noticed that even just the thought or sight of a lemon, can stimulate saliva production. To help improve digestion, take time to sit with food, smell, taste and chew food properly whilst sitting in a stress free, relaxed environment, free from phone, computer and television screens. This helps stimulate digestive enzymes and enables the parasympathetic nervous system (rest and digest) to be active to aid proper digestion. When we eat whilst stressed our sympathetic nervous system (fight and flight) is in play, our digestive system shuts down and we are unable to digest, absorb and assimilate food properly. How, when and where we eat is just as important as what we eat. Try MINDFUL eating today and see if your digestion improves. Please message me if you would like more recommendations on how to improve your digestive system with whole foods, food based supplements and/or lifestyle changes. ☯️

When analysing a Hair Tissue Mineral Test, it is not just the individual mineral levels that are of importance but also the ratio's and pattern's between those minerals. If any of the ratio's are either high or low, it is likely that a person will be experiencing symptoms related to that area of their health. When I analyse a HTMA test, I not only look at individual mineral levels but also more importantly the ratios between certain minerals. i.e. zinc and copper which represents the hormone ratio, sodium and potassium which represents the vitality ratio, calcium and potassium which represents the thyroid ratio, sodium and magnesium which represents the adrenal ratio and calcium and magnesium which represents the blood sugar ratio.

Minerals are required to activate thousands of enzyme reactions within the body, without minerals, vitamins don't work!! Plants can't make minerals, they come from the soil. Todays farming practices have depleted our soil of the minerals they once had and it is therefore not surprising there is an increase in nutritionally related diseases due to mineral deficiencies. If you would like to know if a mineral deficiency and/or metal toxicity is negatively affecting your health a Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis will give you an accurate measure of your mineral levels at a cellular level. My interest in a naturopathic approach to health and wellness started whilst on my own healing journey some twenty plus years ago. After studying for a year in the art of Kinesiology, I realised the importance of the mind-body connection and was led to the Bach Flower School where I completed a Diploma course in Bach Flower Remedies. As my awareness grew in the benefits of a more natural, gentle and long term solution to better health using whole foods, natural therapies and food based supplements, I decided to train as a nutritionist and completed a further Diploma course at the College of Integrated Nutrition and Homeopathy, where my training included nutrition, homeopathy and elements of herbal medicine and life coaching. I now hope to pass on the knowledge and skills I have learnt to help empower others to make healthier lifestyle choices to improve their own health and wellbeing.☯️
