Whilst staying at the hotel we were also lucky enough to dine at their Michelin-starred Cantonese restaurant, Shang Palace. You may have seen the evening on my Instagram stories, but essentially we ate so much that we had to abandon our plans to go bar-crawling in Montmatre, and go straight to bed afterward to sleep! The head chef kindly put together a tasting menu for us, and my goodness everything was just incredible. Our absolute favourites though were actually two of the starter dishes; the Red-rice flour rolls with shrimp, and Fried eggplant glazed with gravy, sesame, and ginger.

Our huge array of starters arrived, and while everyone else shared a selection of Ensalada Amazónica (mango and avocado salad), Patacones Mechados (Crispy plantain, pulled pork, achiote seeds), Tequeños (clay oven chicken rolls), and a variety of sushi, I stuck to my keto-friendly dishes and had the Hamachi Tiradito (thinly sliced yellowtail). My yellowtail was absolutely beautiful and tasted super fresh in a zesty passionfruit dressing.

I’ve been to Hakkasan many, many times before. It’s a favourite for me and my friends, and it’s a place I love so much I’ve paid to dine there lots of times as well as having a number of gifted meals over the years. They asked me for a few of my favourite dishes, and they kindly added an extra one in too! The food was delivered last Thursday evening with an Addison Lee car, just as my brother was arriving home from work which was very handy. He’d never eaten at Hakkasan before so this was his first experience, and he absolutely loved it! The food all arrived in recyclable black plastic containers, still steaming hot. We left everything in the containers and dishes it out onto individual plates. We started with the classic steamed dim sum which was just melt-in-the-mouth delicious.

We decided to share dessert because there wasn’t really anything Keto friendly (very, very few desserts are Keto friendly), so we had the Chocolate Hazelnut and Mandarin, and Edd had a glass of Mas Amiel to accompany it. I had a tiny half-spoonful of the dessert and it was absolutely heavenly. Edd took one for the team and polished off the entire plate while I continued to pour my croaky/bunged up heart out to him. We’ve been boy-girl best friends now for almost eight years and I would definitely be lost without him and his man advice (basically every bit of advice he gives me is just “Forget him, he doesn’t deserve you!” which is great but also slightly useless).

I had never eaten a Tuna Pizza before, and then while I was in Dubai this time I had it twice: once at Akira Back and the following day at Karma Kafe when Kristina and I went for a late lunch. This was probably one of my favourite dishes of the night, and for me I would advise everyone who eats fish to order this! The flavours worked incredibly well together, and the freshness of the tuna just made it melt in my mouth.

But the fire dancers story is a story for the end of this review. What I will be telling you about first, is how much we enjoyed the Sheraton Samoa Beach Resort. We arrived early evening from Fiji just as the sun was dipping towards the horizon, and after checking out the contemporary design of the HUGE room, we flung our bags down before racing outside to have a cocktail by the pool. We suddenly panicked and realised we forgot to apply mosquito spray, but then realised that actually, we weren’t being bitten and there weren’t really any mosquitoes around!
