I've been keeping this secret since April.. so im delighted to finally be able to share! After all of my newest additions to my breeding team this year, I was certainly not looking for any new broodmares. That was until I was approached by an owner of a mare I'd asked for first refusal on over two years ago - because I'd spent the best part of the last 10 years trying to track this mare down, at one point I'd started to doubt if she even existed!
This was never one I was going to turn down.. as she is the only daughter in the world, from my special mare Zarnike (Fifi) who I adore more than anything, and who is now retired from breeding.

Meet 'D.Brightwood Aries' (aka Aries)... She has only just joined me, as she had a gorgeous filly foal this year, so we had to be patient until it was time for weaning.
I'm so overjoyed to have this opportunity to own her, and she had also scanned in foal with a positive heartbeat for next year to a ridiculously exciting young stallion with an exceptional pedigree!
Aries is an established and proven broodmare, with some exciting youngsters on the floor already & the damline that is incredibly close to my heart. She is a maternal half sister to our retained 2 year old c**t Solo (Gateways Zanzigold), and 'Polos Gold Heart' who is competing in eventing at 2* level with a young rider.

She is beautifully bred, with her mum being a direct daughter of Heartbreaker from a Ramiro Z dam... and she is sired by Crusador (Cassini X Quidam De Revel), who competed up to FEI 1.35m himself and has produced many top class performance horses. Including over 15 offspring with showjumping records from 1.40-1.60m at International level. His pedigree dates back to the famous holsteiner motherline 162 which produced Canturo, Carthago and Coster.
This bloodline & track record for any showjumping bloodline enthusiasts, should speak for itself! 😍

I will be forever greatful to Georgia from Rosewood stud for approaching me 2 years ago, for keeping to your word, and for allowing this to happen. You have made me the happiest person in the world.
Also another thank you goes to Darren at Hill Valley Stud farm, for taking care of Aries for a big chunk of the Spring/Summer & overseeing all the breeding duties to get her in foal for me... and to Janette from Spencer & Son transport for her safe arrival. I'm so excited! 😍

My heart is soooo full with having this lady join me. I've wished for this to happen for such a long time, I'm still pinching myself! Welcome to West Wales Aries, and welcome to your forever home. 💕

And just like that, stud season 2024 is complete - crazy when you consider our first pregnant visiting mares of you year arrived in the first week of January! 🙌
Our final heartbeat scan has been done, and I'm delighted to say that we will be expecting 5 of our own arrivals in 2025. This includes, one sports pony, one dressage foal, and three showjumpers. 🤩
We already have visiting mares booked in for foaling in 2025 - in fact, April is fully booked already. So if you're looking to book in - please dont leave it too long to reserve your space! 👍

Tucked up indoors for the evening, ready for the next 24 hours of rain in the forecast.
Majorly in her coat shedding phase, so looking a little bit like a ragdoll... but that Sleek and shiny jet black coat is starting to show through. A few more weeks and she'll be gleaming again! Regardless, what a beautiful young lady she is developing into, a picture of substance, athleticism and power. Shes going to be some mare in the future! 🤩

The last week has been a bit of a whirlwind, super productive but super busy.. so I'm afraid I don't have any very recent photos to share. So have this one of gorgeous Tilly (Gateways Jackpot), which was taken about a fortnight ago. She's growing on so beautifully, and has started shedding out her baby coat, so is looking more like a little ragdoll everyday! It won't be long, and she'll be back to having a beautiful glossy black coat again. 😍🖤

Many of my friends might recognise this gorgeous Lady as one of my previous ridden horses - Greenvale Carma. 💕
Unfortunately our competition career together didn't quite work out as I had hoped, as she came to me at the same time that we were developing the new yard at Gateways. With the lack of facilities at the time, and my schedule always requiring me to be somewhere else which meant she was being wasted sitting in the field.. So I made the decision for her to go and spread her wings elsewhere. Thankfully that turned out to be just 10miles down the road with my friend Holly. I always said that once Carma had been out and seen the world, she'd always have a home to come back to as a broodmare at a later date... well that time has come. ❤️ Unfortunately just as Carma was in her prime & doing so well, an old injury was discovered which we expect she sustained when she was young, and has been causing her a few niggles when in hard ridden work. I'm incredibly greatful to Holly for loving her as much as I do, and for keeping to her word and allowing her to return home again. So welcome to the breeding team Carma, we just know you're going to make an amazing mum one day. She has a lovely pedigree being sired by Corravale ( Coriano Z X Landlord) out of Carnival Belle (Carnival Drum) with paternal/maternal and full siblings with established jumping records at all levels from Grassroots to Grand Prix jumping with both professional and amateur riders. I'm very excited to see what we can produce together in the future. 😍🧡

A correct filly, with a beautiful presence - already showing fantastic natural rhythm with a ground covering walk, elevated trot, and her fathers uphill canter. All wrapped up in a modern, yet petite and feminine frame, with world class bloodlines.
Her mother stands at around 16h, so i estimate this Filly to mature to 16-16.2h.
Undoubtedly one for top level sport, or a fantastic addition to any future breeding programme.

Sired by none other than Van Olst superstar Glamourdale (Lord Leatherdale X Negro) who is two time KWPN horse of the year, and reining Double World Champion.

This fillys dam was bred here in the UK by International Grand Prix rider, young horse specialist & British Breeding evaluator Dan Greenwood. She is by Apache - who is an International Grand Prix performance stallion himself, but also the father to several notable international horses including performance test winner Indian Rock, as well as the renowned stallion Grand Galaxy Win, and Gio who scored +79% in his grand prix debut, and then went on to secure a Bronze medal at the 2021 Olympics under Charlotte Dujardin, and has recently made the shortlist for the 2024 British Olympic team. Whilst her Damline has not only produced horses who have also competed at PSG, but goes back to multiple St. Pr Mares & one of the all time great stallions Rubinstein, who noted over 40 wins at Grand Prix level, and sired over 60 licenced stallions who have had some incredible achievements.

This Filly is now ready for reservation. She will recived the very best care, and attention to every detail with her upbringing. She will be fully halter broken and well socialised at the time of weaning. Will be kept up to date with worming, and farrier care. No expense will be spared.

Thankfully we get to enjoy her here with us for a little bit longer - so the photos of her growing up will continue for a good while yet. Then, once she's old enough to be weaned she'll stay with us until late December before making the journey up North to her fabulous new home. We hope that their future together will be a long, loving and successful one. 🙏🥰

Last night saw the first Gateways foal of the season grace us with her presence 6 days early, at the very respectable time of 9.30pm! 🙌
Our super new mare Julana (aka Jelly) produced a beautiful black filly. If you've seen our previous posts, you'll know that this little ladies father is the super popular European stallion Glasgow, and she really has taken after her dad in colour, type and markings! 😍

Jelly was incredible, and everything was as textbook as could be - after the usual newborn health & Vet check this morning it's safe to say that mum & baby are both thriving... and long may it continue! ❤

You'll have to excuse the photo angle that makes her look ginormous, she's got plenty of substance with a big rangey frame to fill but with equal parts of feminine poise too.. she doesn't stay still for long, so my choice of 'in focus' photos are limited at the moment. I promise I'll take more over the coming days! 🥰
