Never forget!
Christmas
And don't make a media event of it.
In the spirit of Christmas.
porky pig's blue Christmas A video I made. I do not own the song nor do I mean to disrespect the artist. I made this video for fun and for anyone to enjoy.
I have friends who were and are on the job. I also got to know many first responders when I worked in ministry on Vancouver's Downtown Eastside, and sadly I have a friend in the States who was killed on the job. If you are anti-police, I don't want to hear about it.
Keep the camera or phone in your pocket.
My favourite is probably "Silent Night" even though I know the night of Jesus' birth would be anything but quiet.
In the midst of your holiday celebrations, don't forget the significance of this date.
To quote the Grich "Christmas perhaps...is a little bit more".
The other day while shopping, I got a bit tired so stopped for a drink at the food court and watched people. There were not a lot of happy faces. The holidays can be very hard for some people, especially staff in the store. Be gentle this season
What's the weirdest thing you have seen served at Christmas? How about pickled herring and pickled pigs feet?
Normally it goes up Dec 1st and comes down on Dec 31 so we start the new year off with a clean slate. One year we had a very difficult Christmas with family illnesses and financial issues. That year the tree came down Dec 26th (Boxing Day) because we were done. Ever feel that way?
I'm not hard to please
Bad kitty!
Keep an eye out for Senior angel trees. They can be at local nursing homes or at a sponsor's business. You take a tag and get gifts but instead of toys, it might be socks, slippers and some tea. Seniors are often over looked.
Santa is a nice fellow, but Christmas is not about him.
Another of our family traditions is new Christmas jammies which we open on Christmas Eve.
For all my friends and followers that are sports fans
The best gift ever
I see NIMBYISM is alive and well in the Okanagan. In Kelowna they are going to build two tiny home villages that will house a total of 120 homeless at 2 locations. Now people are screaming “they will bring more crime”. Newsflash! Not all homeless are thieves or addicted. Sometimes it’s just circumstances. Anyone remember the word compassion?
One of my traditions is to read The Christmas Carol each year. I love all the versions of the movie but nothing beats the book. Do you have special traditions?
Jingle all the way! Christmas songs are fun but remember the Christmas hymns
I love sugar cookies and my wife's shortbread. What's your favourite?
Santa and all the trimmings are a lot of fun, but remember whose birth we are celebrating.
I have sadly lost some friends because I am not ashamed to share the gospel. That's just me, but it's ok. It's my life.
Bad kitty
We need to be careful who we associate with in our personal lives.
Biblical illiteracy among Christians in some places is rampant! You can read the Bible every day, in fact, I would encourage you to do so.
Life is too short to worry about needless things.
Amen! There is too much cherry-picking of Scriptures or avoiding the hard topics because someone may get their feelings hurt. The church can't keep preaching the warm fuzzies.
Amen!
God sure did "a new thing" for me and I couldn't be happier.
Our tradition is the tree goes up on December 1st and comes down New Year's Eve so we start the new year clean and fresh.
While we start the Christmas shopping this year, try to remember who this holiday is really about.
