Summers are harsh at Kheoni, but extremely rewarding for birders...
All the watering holes come alive with franatic activity of flycatchers, oreoles, pittas and various other birds.
Shared here are some shots from yesterday safari and we have name this collection as "SAME FRAME"....
In each of the picture you will see two different but rare and absolutely stunning birds, one is a Golden Oreole and the other is Indian Paradise Flycatcher, which happens to be the state bird of Madhya Pradesh too.
The Pittas were very active and the forest was echoing with their mating calls, unfortunately we could not spot one.
Do plan your visit for some lovely birding action.

The Cheetals from Bhopal are doing well at Kheoni ....

Presenting YUVRAJ ... the huge male of Kheoni Wildlife Sanctuary !!!
This guy is seriously HUGE !!!! He has a magistic walk, just like a KING...
He has "Y" style strips on his left fl**ge, hence the name YUVRAJ !!!!

Its been raining Tigers at Kheoni Wildlife Sanctuary....
Bumper signtings in one day ..... One female and one male...
We came across this female crouching inside a nallah... She reminded us of the famous Mataram aka Collarwali of Pench National Park...

The majestic and shy Male tiger of Kheoni Wildlife Sanctuary...
We spent some quality time together, then I moved on letting him rest under the cool shade in the beating hot sun...

The majestic Crested Serpent Eagle, as the name suggests, feeds primarily on snakes, especially tree snakes, but it will eat other small lizards etc too.

The relocated chitals from Bhopal are doing well at Kheoni Wildlife Sanctuary.
Kheoni Sanctuary is just 40 Kms from Ashta towards Kannod.
Do visit this wonderful sanctuary which is full of bio diversity.

When you wake up in the morning and find this adorable little chap on your doorstep..
He is a rescued blue bull fawn, now being nurtured by the Forest dept staff in the sanctuary... One day, when he feels confident, he will go back in the forest to join a heard.... Good luck to him...

Kheoni wildlife sanctuary is also a birder's paradise.
Its a perfect breeding ground for the Indian Paradise Flycatcher, the state bird of Madhya Pradesh also called दूधराज in hindi and the Indian Pitta also called as नवरंगा in hindi apart from a plithora of raptors and a variety of Owls including the Brown Fish Owl...

The KANHA of Malwa

Kheoni wildlife sanctuary acts as a tiger corridor between Ratapani and Omkareshwar Sanctuaries and some cats have found the environment condusive at Kheoni and they now have become resident tigers here.
