The seniors last day of school is approaching fast. It’s always a bittersweet time for me😞. I grow so attached to these students & want the absolute best for them, but I sure miss them when they leave. Kael is my programmer & he’s one of my seniors leaving soon. He has spent the week teaching his tips of the trade to my next season’s programmers. Kael is so good at what he does so I know they’ll be great.

Some wear certain colors, knock on wood, carry a rabbit’s foot, eat particular foods, or wear their lucky socks. Ariel does the Macarena at the queuing table before every match at VEX Robotics. It works for us! 🤣

51617A competed in The Delta Showdown at McGehee yesterday. They did FANTASTIC! They held 1st in Skills the whole day with a score of 221 and finished the qualification rounds in 4th. The drive down there & back was nerve wracking with all the rain, but they brought home two awards! Excellence & Skills Champions! VEX Robotics

Today, two past members of Robotics who are in the Army National Guard came to visit and look over our designs. They pointed out what they thought was good and listened to our ideas on how to improve our robots. They also talked strategy with us and told us that the Army uses robotics for reconnaissance, surveillance, and neutralizing explosive devices.

Both teams (with their alliance teams) battle it out in the Finals. The B team is Red & the A team is Blue. Red wins by 17 points.

Both Rose Bud Robotic teams competed yesterday at UCA & did PHENOMENAL! These students are newbies at robotics & not only did they just have the best day ever, they made new friends, & learned so much! They both battled their way through the qualification matches, quarter finals, semifinals, and then against each other in the finals with the B team beating the A team by only 17 points. The A team was the Skills Champions by 70 points & the Tournament Finalists. The B team was the Tournament Champions & also won the Design Award.

Rose Bud Robotics competed in their first EVER (all but 2 kids are new to competition) tournament yesterday. Both teams did great & they say they are hooked! 51617A brought home the Judge’s Award trophy. Btw, 51617A named their team “The Cleaners” and the robot’s official name is Mr. Larry…after our school janitor. 💙

Robotics 1 & 2 were busy setting up the new field elements today. They enjoyed having something hands-on to do after Aspire testing.
