Hunter Had the opportunity to speak as a guest on The Ranger Podcast!!!

Him, Commander Randy Glotfley, and Commander Wayne, all had a blast in our discussions focusing primarily on Royal Rangers National Shooting Sports Program aka; The NSSP!!!

They recorded multiple episodes worth of content (with this episode being the first) covering topics that ranged from everything on shooting sports related merits within Rangers, our National Postal Match competition’s, my time as a and National Shooting Sports Ambassador representing Royal Rangers, various scholarship opportunities the NRA has such as the , our new and upcoming VERY OWN Ambassador Program for Rangers, our National Discount Program we have available to ALL Royal Rangers NATIONWIDE and literally SO MUCH MORE!!!

While this episode is mostly an introduction to the whole conversation, it’s so amazing hearing how well it turned out!

Overall he’s so honored and truly blessed to have had this opportunity and it’s his prayer that God would use any and ALL information within the multiple episodes to reach boys and men within the ministry and OUTSIDE of the Royal Ranger program to spark an interest and speak to what an AMAZING TOOL Shooting Sports is!

To God be ALL the Glory!!!!

As believers living in a fallen world we should ALWAYS choose “Christ over Controversy”. The gun/self-defense topic is a HUGE controversial ‘issue’ of this day and age, ESPECIALLY among Christians!

As followers of Christ we are first and foremost called to “love our neighbor” and “preach the gospel”, so does that mean we should never utilize force and violence in situations of physical attack?
Let’s go to Christ FIRST and look at the things He said on the matter. In Luke 22:36 & 38-39 Jesus gives the directive to his disciples to wield lethal weapons! In verse 36 He says, “But now, let the one who has a moneybag take it, and likewise a knapsack. And let the one who has no sword sell his cloak and buy one”. Jesus starts off by instructing his disciples to get a moneybag and a knapsack, earlier in His ministry Jesus had sent them out with no moneybag (Luke 9:3 & 10:4).

Now, He was telling them that they would NEED provisions and supplies. As far as the sword goes, some take the highlight of Jesus’ instruction to buy a sword to mean fighting spiritual foes. In verse 38-39, the disciples offer up two swords (that they obviously already had on their person) and Jesus replies “it is enough”. Some view this as Jesus rebuking the disciples as if He were saying something like “that is enough talk of swords” but this is not true. When being mindful of context and continuity, Jesus was talking of literal moneybags and knapsacks when He told His disciples that they would need them. Therefore, the command to buy/carry a sword was in literal terms as well!
When we keep that in mind it is clear that later on in verses 49-51 Jesus was not rebuking Peter’s actual use of the sword but He was rebuking the fact that Peter was blocking Jesus’ arrest and therefore blocking the sovereign will of God for Jesus to sacrifice His life so that He would die to cover our sins!

We can take this same concept through use of context and continuity and apply it when reading Matthew 5:39, “But if anyone slaps you on the right cheek, turn to him the other also”. Jesus does not forbid us or even forbid governments, soldiers, LEO’s, or anyone else from utilizing force when opposing evil. What He does forbid here is the action of personal revenge. We should not return an insulting slap when we are given one, instead we should act in love toward our NON LIFE THREATENING attacker.

The fact that the disciples offered up (showed Jesus that two of them were already carrying) two swords implies that Jesus had not prohibited or rebuked them carrying swords up to this point and we also now know based on the actual meaning of these other scriptures that Jesus never prohibited self-defense!

We see multiple other accounts throughout the Bible of justification for utilizing deadly force and violence (couple main highlights, Exodus 22:2-3 & Gen 14:13-16). But what about specifications on age, training/qualifications, the right and wrong use of violence, and should civilians really be able to defend/train themselves?

Let us look at the life of David. As a youth (not as soldier, not as a LEO, not as anyone in governmental authority) was skilled in use of lethal weaponry WITHOUT military training to defend his sheep and himself from deadly threats (lions and bears). Him wielding his sling would be like a youth, or child as we view that age today, would be in comparison of him carrying a larger caliber firearm such as a .338 Lupua or a .44 magnum caliber on a daily basis to defend themselves! (Those are big hard hitting rounds!)
Some may look at it in the sense that he was protecting animals against animals, but aren’t we more valuable to protect than sheep? Didn’t David later as a youth STILL with no military training defend Israel against Goliath who was challenging and mocking God? God gave David the strength to do it, but David ALREADY POSSESSED the skill from HIS OWN diligence and PERSONAL training. We can train on our own and not have to be members of the military or a LEO.

David was a warrior no doubt, but was he a man who sought violence? NO, David sought the Lord and His will FIRST. He was a man of God’s own heart. David had no problem with utilizing violence and wielding the ‘sword’ but only in appropriate manners/times. For the majority of his life (he did fall short with and came close to letting his pride allow him to wrongly resort to the ‘sword’) he refused to resort to violence unless absolutely necessary! If he was an unjust man who sought violence then how would he be classified as the man after God’s own heart? He wouldn’t. God hates violence in it’s essence and looks down upon those who have violent hearts/lives (Gen 6:11).
David was not a man of violence. He even refused to kill King Saul who was chasing, trying to kill, and was persecuting him! Not because he was “turning the other cheek”, it was because Saul was the Lord’s anointed king and DAVID SOUGHT THE LORD!!! The sword should NOT be our first resort to deal with our problems (you cannot shoot someone who is pushing you around but has no weapon and hasn’t verbally threatened your life, sorry!), instead it should be our LAST resort.

As believers our calling is to love others and preach the gospel above all else, Christ didn’t call us to preach self-defense and fi****ms at the forefront of our lives. BUT, we are justified, right, and Biblically correct in our preparedness against physical evil and persecution that threatens our or anyone else’s “life or limb”. Christ gave us directive that we are to/can posses lethal weapons, but we are to ALWAYS love first and defend last.

Live your life to honor Christ and give him glory in ALL things! If you choose to buy yourself and carry any sort of ‘sword’, wield it in a way that would ALWAYS give Him glory! Stay ready.

These past few weeks have been tough guys. From being apart from Sierra for a still unset amount of time, to not getting to see family in about a month, to just life issues coming in at full force. Thing’s haven’t been easy.
In the midst of that, I’m learning to continually check my heart and ensure that I’m finding my “shelter” in the one who I was meant to put my trust, Jesus.
In times where we face trials that seem to have blindsided us, it’s always good to remember where we came from and WHO brought us to this moment we are in.
I’m so thankful to have such a great God, a wonderful woman, and an amazing family to fall on when things get hard. .
This Psalm has been my daily prayer, and I’d encourage you to make it yours as well. .
“He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.
I will say of the LORD, "He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust."
Surely he will save you from the fowler's snare and from the deadly pestilence.
He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.
You will not fear the terror of night, nor the arrow that flies by day,
nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness, nor the plague that destroys at midday.
A thousand may fall at your side, ten thousand at your right hand, but it will not come near you.
You will only observe with your eyes and see the punishment of the wicked.
If you make the Most High your dwelling-- even the LORD, who is my refuge--
then no harm will befall you, no disaster will come near your tent.
For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways;
they will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.
You will tread upon the lion and the cobra; you will trample the great lion and the serpent.
"Because he loves me," says the LORD, "I will rescue him; I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name.
He will call upon me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and honor him.
With long life will I satisfy him and show him my salvation."

“Walking into this year holding your hand I never would have guessed come March we would be forced to do long distance, but God knew. A few weeks prior to going into quarantine we had to go two weeks without seeing each other, because of busy schedules, and I know now without a doubt that was God’s way of preparing us and giving us grace for what was to come. .
This quarantine has actually been really good for us!! Yes, not all of it has been easy or fun, but it has helped us grow closer to the Lord as individuals and also strengthened our relationship with each other. God has used this circumstance to show me that our relationship is not built upon feelings, emotions, or the physical, but upon Him and I’m beyond grateful for that. .
I think sometimes we all need to take a step back, look at our lives, and get direction and clarity, and this quarantine has done that for me. It’s forced me to slow down, get wisdom and direction from God, and make sure I am in His best will for me. .
My challenge for you is to get quite, get wisdom, get clarity, and direction. Also look around and ask yourself what your relationships are built upon, because when everything else is taken away I pray the only thing you find yourself standing on in your relationships is Jesus, because He is our one true love.”

Always be prepared physically, and spiritually. .
If you follow our Instagram or page, by now you know we are passionate about being physically prepared in life.
But there is also a flip side to being physically prepared and that is being spiritually prepared as well. .
While being physically prepared is important to us, being spiritually prepared is even more important. For us being prepared spiritually looks like being in the Bible daily, talking to God throughout the day, and having godly mentors speak into our lives. .
So I encourage you to prepare yourself more spiritually than you do physically this week. .
“But in your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect.” 1 Peter 3:15

Our God takes delight when we act like little children and play in His creation
Today I woke up with the surprise that it had snowed last night at our cabin in the mountains. I’ve spent the whole day acting like a child and enjoying God’s creation and you know what... I believe God enjoys watching His children play out in His creation
My challenge for you this weekend is to get out in creation and just act like a child again

“In every walk with nature one receives far more than he seeks.” - John Muir
While being out in nature we can experience God’s presence in a new way like never before. We can choose to hear His voice through the rushing wind, or a quiet stream, but the key word here is CHOOSE. God doesn’t often make us listen but we can always CHOOSE to do so no matter where we are, because He is always speaking to us even through nature.
A challenge for you this week... get out in nature and CHOOSE to hear God’s voice .

What is love? CHRIST IS LOVE! As believers we are called to “love our neighbors as ourselves”. Who are our neighbors? Our “neighbors” are all those around us. Those we do know, those we don’t know, our families, our friend’s, our significant other’s, and everyone else! Most all of us know the golden rule, “treat others like you want to be treated”. How would we want to be treated? With grace, understanding, kindness, compassion, and most importantly with love. When we know Jesus as our Lord and Savior we get to have the fullest portion of HIS love, more than we could ever imagine up to the point that we begin to overflow with that love! Our love for others is to be an outpouring of Jesus’ love for us. So often we have a “Hollywood view” of love when we should have a “Holy Word” view (Dr. Emerson Eggerichs). Love is more than a feeling, it’s a constant choice to selflessly serve another person and putting their needs (whether physical, mental, spiritual, or otherwise) above our own!
So “love your neighbor” by loving Christ FIRST and the love you share with others (ESPECIALLY with your significant other) won’t just be your limited-imperfect love, but the PERFECT love our Lord and Savior!!

Hunter + Sierra, This is Sierra: Named after the “Sierra Nevada” Mountains, there was no doubt Sierra would grow up to be an outdoorswoman! Since a young age Sierra could most always be found outside. From building forts, to playing “survival” with her siblings, she grew up with a passion for the outdoors! Sierra has traveled across the country including out west with her dad and has hiked the entirety of the Georgia portion of the Appalachian trail. She has developed skills in backpacking, hiking, white water rafting, rock climbing, basic survival skills, and is certified in wilderness first aid. She also has experience in fishing, hunting, and shooting sports. In 2015 Sierra played a founding role in the creation of the nonprofit children’s ministry, Spurs of Hope. Since then she has served in creating and starting the “Torch” program within Spurs of Hope to instruct children in learning basic survival skills. Sierra’s motto, “going into the woods is going home”, perfectly describes her love for God’s great outdoors and the peace she finds being in HiS creation!
Using her’s and Hunter’s passion for the outdoors as a tool, Sierra hopes to point people to Christ first and foremost in all she does! To God be the Glory!
