I'm looking forward to seeing those who are taking part in this year's Shrovetide - I'm sure it will be an unforgettable couple of days.
FAQs
Q: What time are we leaving / returning?
A: Tues/Weds. First shift leaves KR at 12pm. Leaves Ashbourne at 4pm returns to KR at 4.30pm.
Second shift leaves KR at 3.30pm, leaves Ashbourne at 7pm, returns to KR at 7.30pm.

Q: My module isn't going and/or I didn't sign up at the time, but can I come anyway?
A: All seats are taken for the 12pm shift on Tues, a small amount left for 12pm Weds, plenty for 4pm shifts on both days. There may be some absences on the day, so in those cases, you can take their place on a first come, first served basis. Basically, you can take your chance but no guarantees.

Q: Can I make my own way there?
A: In principle, yes. Check with your tutor though. Parking is limited.

Q: What am I doing when I get there?
A: Your tutor will give you instructions.

Q: Do we have a base?
A: Yes, we have a room at Compton Social Club to shelter and get warm. It's an old-fashioned, small room upstairs with no lift, but there is some shelter downstairs in the bar area. 51 Compton St, Ashbourne DE6 1BX

Q: Can I get something to eat there?
A: Yes, but the fast-food stands are usually overwhelmed so you may be queuing for a while. Better to bring your own.

Q: What's open?
A: Pubs, fast food stands. Apart from that, not much.

Q: What shall I wear?
A: It will be cold and wet and you might be miles from our base and standing around. I'd advise double layers, waterproof coats. I've learned over the years, its best to wear wellies or boots and not need them, than to need wellies or boots and not wear them. It's very likely to get muddy.

Q: How are we getting our content out?
A: Speak to your tutor. For those who are using our Whatsapp group - the QR code is here. Tutor Caroline Jones will be monitoring that group and publishing work. please use your full name when messaging.

Q: Will my on-the-day content be used by the press?
A: If it's unique and exclusive then yes. Caroline Jones will be curating it and sending it on to the BBC and Derbyshire Live / Ashbourne news.

Q: Can I use my own social media accounts?
A: Yes. We have the most bodies on the ground, therefore the press love it when we're tracking the ball. Tweet videos, pictures and descriptions. use and and Caroline will pick it up and repurpose it. The press are also following our hashtags. I've attached some Shrovetide terms.

The temperature - high of 7º C and a low of 5º C and it will rain on both days.
Looking forward to seeing you!
