A facehugger is an arachnid-like organism with a sleek, elongated body. It has long, finger-like legs, a prehensile tail, and a fleshy sac-like body with a mouth-like appendage on the underside. The name "facehugger" comes from its modus operandi – it is designed to attach itself to the face of a potential host.

When a facehugger encounters a potential host, it quickly springs into action, launching itself onto the host's face and wrapping its long, finger-like legs tightly around the host's head, effectively immobilizing them. The mouth-like appendage then opens, revealing a tube-like proboscis. This proboscis is inserted into the host's mouth, allowing the facehugger to implant a parasitic embryo down the host's throat.

The embryo, known as a Xenomorph embryo or chestburster, gestates inside the host until it reaches a certain stage of development.
