DIFFERENT APPROACHES TO SCOLIOSIS: Classification of Scoliosis Based on Age of Onset
Idiopathic scoliosis develops and progresses during growth, which is why the SRS classifies it into three groups based on the age of onset. Adolescent idiopathic scoliosis is the most common form.
• Infantile scoliosis: 0-2 years and 11 months
• Juvenile scoliosis: 3-9 years and 11 months
• Adolescent scoliosis: 10-17 years and 11 months
Our magnificent professors, Yuming Ding .bspts and Sungyoung Yoon .yoon, were honored to have been invited as speakers at the 2nd ACPR Prehab & Rehab Exercise Conference. On Saturday, October 19, 2024, they had the invaluable opportunity to present conservative scoliosis treatment methods and share the Rigo Concept BSPTS approach in South Korea. They were dedicated to promoting the Rigo Concept BSPTS in the future.
The 2nd ACPR Prehab & Rehab Exercise Conference was hosted by ACPR and organized by ACPR Korea and KIMES Busan. The event took place from October 19 to 20, 2024, at BEXCO, Busan. The conference focused on Prehab—exercises aimed at maintaining optimal health before pain arises—and Rehab, which included exercises to restore daily functionality after treatment.

The final Rigo Concept-BSPTS course of 2025 for orthopedic technicians will be held in Valencia.🎉

The course will be held on December 10-13 in Valencia, Spain.
And we return to another magnificent Level 2 course held in Kaohsiung, Taiwan!
This time, the magnificent professor Yumin Ding .bspts was in charge of conducting this course with 10 students.
Before the course, many participants felt unsure about managing scoliosis patients. With Teacher Yumin Ding’s guidance, therapists gained valuable practical experience through the Rigo Concept, assessments, hands-on teaching, and observation.
It was gratifying to see their confusion turn into confidence. Participants learned that treating scoliosis isn’t just about focusing on angles but addressing each patient’s unique case. The Rigo Concept emphasizes precise guidance and a strong knowledge base, significantly enhancing their skills.
Organized by BalanSpine Scoliosis Clinic, the course was a valuable experience for all. We look forward to seeing everyone in Level 2 🎉🌟
SCOLIOSIS TREATMENT OPTIONS:
As treatment options, depending on the person's characteristics, there are different choices:
1. Surgical treatment

This is primarily based on:

DIFFERENCE BETWEEN STRUCTURAL AND NON-STRUCTURAL SCOLIOSIS
- Strucutral Scoliosis:
Clinically, with a positive Adams test.
Presence of a lateral curve and vertebral rotation on an X-ray.
According to the SRS, when measuring the curve using the Cobb Angle in lateral flexion or supine position, we are unable to reverse it.
- Non-Structural Scoliosis:
When the curvature disappears in the anterior flexion test.
Also known as non-morphologic, or functional.
