California History with CG
This is a page for the California History lessons I have been doing for my daughter and her classmat
I was remembering this morning about our lesson in May about National Parks and how many of us enjoy parks like Big Basin. So I know you will share our sadness about the news about the destruction of the Lightning Complex Fire have had on the oldest park in California. Maybe we can share our memories in the comments. https://kcbsradio.radio.com/articles/californias-oldest-state-park-home-to-redwoods-is-gone
Report: California's Oldest State Park, Home To Majestic Coast Redwoods, Is 'Gone' "We are devastated to report that Big Basin State Park, as we have known it, loved it, and cherished it for generations, is gone," Sempervirens Fund, an organization dedicated to redwoods protection, wrote in a Twitter post Thursday afternoon.
Hello my friends. I know that we are grappling with some really difficult times in our nation. It is so important for us as parents to have these hard conversations with our kids while also educating ourselves. Our gut reaction is , of course, to protect and shield our kids from so much ugliness but that time has passed. Racism thrives on silence. I have been putting together a book list for school aged children to help educate them on race issues in our nation. Please take a look. I hope that these resources are helpful. https://docs.google.com/document/d/1Y7RIJd6ujr0yviCJ6eiDMcBP3VilvL_jQJ3aUo5HOwU/edit

A few days ago I shared the covid19 time capsule project. My daughter Callie completed hers and it was such a powerful reminder of how resilient our kids are. And despite how hard this all is on all of us, we are doing exactly what our kids need. We are there and that’s what’s important. Thanks for always teaching us things Callie !
I hope your kids are enjoying theirs and I’d love to see what they wrote as well if you feel comfortable sharing it with us 🙂
