After our crazy summer schedule we are happy to be home in Florida for atleast 3 weeks, however... That doesn't mean we are not planning our next trips already!

Do you remember the lockdowns during Covid in 2020 & 2021?
Since Satu still lived in the Netherlands at that time she couldn't travel for Twenty Two months to the US due the restrictions.
Luckily she was able to travel back to the US two and a half months before the UCWDC Worlds Championships in 2021.
Where they won their third World title in Masters.

Mike & Satu had the longest distance partnership for five years?!
Satu used to travel back & forth between the United States & her home country The Netherlands. Just to practice and dance the competitions.
Luckily she was able to move to the US in March 2022.
And guess what?! We are moving again! 🥳

Why you should warm up with drills before practice !!! ⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️

Do you know a lot of injuries are happening while practicing?

To minimize the risk of injury while practicing you always should start with a good warm up to increase your heart rate and get the blood flowing so that the muscles become more pliable and able to stretch.

Beside getting your heart rate up, using dance drills as a warm-up will also help you with understanding the technique and bodymovement of the dances!

Satu started dancing at the age of 7 after seeing a kids group linedancing on a fair state. After 4 lessons her teacher told her mom if Satu was willing to dance a competition once.
23 years later Satu is Still dancing competitions 💃🏻

We can't wait to be at the Southern Nationals in Panama City, FL next weekend!

In November we will be back in Texas twice!

And in December two back to back competitions in Viva Las Vegas and Birmingham, AL.

Often we think that practice makes our dancing perfect, but what if we are practicing wrong the entire time?

Practice doesn't mean you are just dancing through the routines.
Practice is about learning new things and how to apply it in your dancing.

Problems on what to work on while you're practicing?
Try this! Make a practice schedule 🗓

Example:

1.5h practice.

20min: warm-up with basics.
30min: work on technique/dynamics on a section in your routine.
10 min: dance this section on a slow song
20 min: dance other routines
10 min: cool down.

One of the first times mike walked into the bar called the wrangler, this beautiful girl asked him to two step. He said I don't know how will you show me? She said nope, and walked away.  So he figured he better get better at this dance stuff .

When Satu turned seven years old, her mother had put her in a line dance kids group after seeing some kids dancing line dance on a fair market.
After four weeks of having lessons, the teacher came up to Satu's mom and told her she had enough talent and she should try to dance a line dance competition once.
Four months later Satu was dancing her first competition.

January 2022 Mike moved to Tennessee to start working as one of the artistic educators for Dynamic Ballroom & Performing Art.

Satu had to wait a little longer until her visa paperwork got filed and approved. Luckily she could move in March 2022

Mike was looking for a dance partner and Satu wanted to expand her dance career.
