Pelmac Stables is owned by Diana Pella and run with the help of her daughter Zoë MacDougall. Started with the intent of having a home for their personal horses, the stable facilities were expanded over the years as needed to support their growing client base. Today, Pelmac Stables offers year-round horse boarding and english riding lessons from beginners to advanced. Pelmac Stables is the owner of
Do you have a young child interested in horses? 🐴 Rookie Riders is a safe and fun introduction to riding skills, horses, and horsemanship! Riding and gymnastic activities focus on developing the skills used in equestrian sport to build children's confidence, physical abilities, and "horse sense"
Geared towards 5-10 year olds, it's a unique program that combines fun off-horse activities with a non-traditional on-horse component (think more balancing, gymnastics based activities borrowed from equestrian vaulting) to keep children engaged in the activity, and develop their skills. Rookie Riders is a great activity on its own, or as preparation for “traditional" riding lessons in the future!
We’ll be starting our 2024-2025 Rookie Riders season on Saturday, December 7th! Contact us for more information, or to register 🌟

Livia is another of our wonderful lease horses! Beautiful, and with a lovely disposition, she really is the complete package 😍
She’s a 2013 Canadian Warmblood mare, born and raised at Pelmac Stables.
Cherry Bloom is another one of our in-barn lease horses. She’s a 2004 Thoroughbred mare, who (like Rayna!) has no idea how old she is!
Evander is a 2008 Canadian Warmblood gelding, who was born and raised at Pelmac Stables!
Known affectionately around the barn as “Eek,” his curious and enthusiastic nature make him a willing partner as a lease horse in our program.
Rayna is a 2004 model, and is one of the oldest of our lease horses- but don’t tell her that! Young at heart, but with the wisdom that comes with age, Rayna looks forward to her rides each day- along with the associated snacks and pampering she expects to receive as a horse of her status.
What a fun end to the summer show season 🌟 It’s truly a privilege to be surrounded by such a hard-working, determined, crazy group of equestrians!
Thank you to everyone who played a part in the success of our 2024 season 🐴
Takara was bred by Pelmac Stables, and we’ve had her her whole life. She’s a 2011 mare by the Trakehner stallion Tagaelen, out of our Thoroughbred mare Cherry Delight, aka Star.
She has the movement of the bigger warmbloods in a 15.2hh package, making her the perfect fancy step-up horse for a smaller rider!
Rugiero, aka Dino, is one of our lease horses. Pelmac Stables raised him from a weanling, and sold him to a wonderful family in 2014. In the fall of 2022, we had the opportunity to bring him home to Saskatchewan! Beautiful, athletic, and a goofy sort of charm make this guy a true favourite around the barn.
Dino is a 2005 Canadian Warmblood gelding.
Lesson horses are often older, experienced riding horses. As such, they may be best suited to the lighter demands of introductory-level ridden work, or may be limited in their capacity for more advanced work due to their riding schedule (for example, a horse that was asked to jump every day would soon come up either sore or sour!)
Depending on a rider’s goals, at some point they may outgrow the lesson horses that sparked their love of horses and horse sports. At that time it may be the best choice for that rider to continue their riding journey on a horse of their own, or pursue a lease!
Pelmac Stables has a small number of lease horses available for riders in our program.
