Most people may say that their greatest achievement are the grand things — acing a test, leading a team or winning the trophy. Yes, it’s true that the big things really do matter. But for me, the little things are just as important as the big ones.

For me, my greatest achievement so far is being able to grow. 🌱 The medals, certificates and incentives are just there to remind me of what I have achieved so far as a financial advisor. But the growth, really is what I am proud of. ✨

Growing up, I was told that in order to be successful, I should finish college, get a job related to what I took and stick to my chosen career path. But I wanted do more — I wanted to be an engineer as I create art, go places and meet different people. Funny thing is that I knew what I wanted to do but never had a concrete plan and timeline for it. So I just became that little boat floating safely on the harbor.

I was earning and living independently but found myself stuck in a cycle of work-play-repeat. I did create artworks as a hobby, went places where I needed to spend a lot and met temporary people. Fleeting happiness was all I got and deep sense of purpose was nowhere to be found. Still that little boat stuck on the same place.

As I was traversing my chosen path, I was invited to join Sun Life. The thought of it being different to what I was doing and that it can be a source of income made me say yes. So I took and passed the licensure exam and began learning the know-hows of the business. Then I just found myself creating purposeful art, not just going places with empty hands but also heading back home with handful of knowledge and meeting people who touched my life positively.

Now, though little, I am a boat who knows my purpose. It’s still a long voyage but I’m ready to brave the sea! ✨
