Ever wonder why we practice posing so much? Because it is NOT natural š a good depiction of what the judges see (top row) vs what you may see (bottom row) in the audience. We are normally on a stage and the judges are below, we pose for THEM because theyāre deciding who wins. Not the photographer, not the audience, not the mirror directly in front of you at the gymā¦ the judges below the stage šŖš¼ oh and it hurts š so gotta build that muscle endurance

2021 ā”ļø 2023
Had this memory come up on my FB todayā¦ on the left is July 8, 2022. On the right is today šŖš¼ change and progress may be slow, but change and progress IS happening! Take those photos, it can be super encouraging on those frustrating days to look back and see how far youāve come!
knows I wanna get big šš¼ find yourself a coach that helps you reach your goals!
šš¼ 5 weeks and 12lbs
Letās talk reverse diet and post show body image šš¼šŖš¼
You can also relate this to ANY event you prepped for, the beach, a wedding, a reunion, etcā¦
One of the most important parts of going into a show is having a plan for after the show. Do you plan to do another one? Are you mentally prepared for the number on the scale to change? Do you have a coach that is not going to drop you after the event? Do you have new goals for shape and size? Is your body image based on your abilities and not your weight?
I quit this sport YEARS ago because all of the above were big problemsā¦ thankfully I have a wonderful coach to walk me through and hold me accountable to the post show WINS and STRUGGLES!
Diet is a huge part of this. Calories will go up and be tweaked based on goals. And personally, I am loving the shape the extra carbs have brought. I am loving the mental de load of a little flexibility. And I am loving the confidence I have when I accomplish days 100% on plan. Itās the perfect balance for the off season!
This style and mindset can be applied to any thing your changing your physique for! Look into the importance of things like reverse diet and maintenance calories. It helps create habits and lifestyle and makes the strict few weeks of prep life WAY more manageable.
Questions about maintenance calories? Drop them below šš¼

Official stage shots came in! So many things Iām proud of now that Iāve had a chance to reflect on this yearās prepā¦
1. No alcohol. I think this made a huge difference. Not only in how I looked but how I felt, how I slept, my focusā¦ I plan to have some on the weekends in the off season but I really saw the benefit of keeping it limited.
2. I ate CLEAN. Likeā¦ I eat well most of the time. But damn, I am proud of how much I cleaned it up and stuck to it. I packed meals for outings, trips, dinner parties, game nights. And it didnāt stop me from enjoying my time with the people who support me in this sport!
3. I didnāt miss. I didnāt miss a workout. I didnāt miss a meal. I didnāt miss supplements. I didnāt miss logging a day. I didnāt miss! I made a schedule, I kept it. And I am proud of that.
4. I did it all with 3 very small children. And this isnāt to boast, this is hopefully to encourage that YOU CAN TOO! You can set big goals. You can have big dreams. And your circumstances donāt have to limit you. The only thing stopping you, is you ā¤ļø
So go after it friends, get what you want. Work for it. Earn it šŖš¼

1 year between photos. Was it perfect? Noā¦ but it was consistent with a goal in mind. Not done yet!
Some stage shots thanks to ā¤ļø very proud of what we brought today, I had so much fun with my individual walk which was by far the hardest part! Had to bring a little of my roots to the stage š¤
The placing doesnāt mean much to me anymore, every person up there works really freakin hard and we all deserve first place! More than anything Iām happy with my performance and excited to get judges feedback so we can go into the next one better and make improvements in the off season ā¤ļøšŖš¼

Hello everyone! My brain is in a bit of a fog as we are headed into peak week where I need to de-stress and focus. Iāll document the show day process next weekend, but until thenā¦ taking a little social media/business break.
To all my clients, I am still here for you and any questions that may arise. Any adjustments will be made next Monday, May 1st but you all have my number should anything urgent come up šŖš¼ā¤ļø

What I love most about a good coach is the constant challenge, the opportunity to work on yourself daily with the right guidance is LIFE changing! Yes, I am a coach, but coaches NEED coaches too! And Shaun is the best. He only sees potential in all of us and I for one, donāt want to let that chance go. So when he put out a challenge to journal and get honest with myself I took it. Sure, I was logging food and workouts through apps but there is something about physically writing it out. It instilled habit and accountability with myself that Iām still using! So not only am I glad I did it for some sweet gear and free groceries (someoneās gotta afford all this asparagus š) but Iām thankful for the continuing habit that will improve my life.
Do you journal in some way?
19 days til show #1 with by far the best conditioning Iāve ever personally achieved with much thanks to
Iāve said it beforeā¦ my body doesnāt respond the same as yours would to certain foods, amounts of foods, macros, water, sodiumā¦ itās part of what I love so much about this sport! Itās such a science and a puzzle š§© Iāve learned an incredible amount about myself this prep that I can continue to use the rest of my life to build the physique I want. So no matter what happens in 19 days, Iāve already won š„
Also PSA that I plan to touch on in a couple weeksā¦ THIS is not my year round body. I am not naturally this lean, nor do I want to be. This body is for the stage and not the summer š trust me, Iāll continue to eat well because I love my healthā¦ but I canāt wait to get my hands on some spaghetti š
Programming for clients is a family affair š„°
Yes, Iām training for my own competition
Yes, Iām a stay at home mom
Yes, I have three kids under the age of 4
Yes, I keep them busy
Yes, I have a husband and a family to cook for
Yes, I have laundry to fold
Yes, I have a whole house to clean
Yes, I have an appointment, a doctors visit, gymnastics class or activity to be at
Yesā¦ yes and yes! My life is chaotic, goal driven, stressful, fulfilling, crazyā¦ I donāt have a minute to spare by the end of the day.
BUTā¦ I have a passion for helping others. Nothing gets me more excited than someone falling in love with what their body can do, when I get a proud selfie from a client at the gym, when a client sends me their new PRā¦ I LOVE IT!
Iām so grateful to all of my clients that have given this mama a chance to follow her dream. Youāve all taught me so much, I just hope Iāve helped you a fraction as much.

This may legitimately be my new favorite word. Especially approaching these last few weeks of prep! Iāve always enjoyed the quiet and calm of my homeā¦ now that I have 3 kids it is not ever quiet and calm until they are sleeping. That time is so precious to me! If I donāt get that, I donāt recharge and Iām pouring from an empty cup the next day. Donāt get me wrong, I love to be around my people and have a good timeā¦ but itās important to remember to say no if you need to and WHEN you need to. Who else struggles with the concept of rest days? šš¼āāļø
Hereās your reminder to take time to rest š and why itās good!
Busy day with the kiddos but weāre staying on track with those packed meals! šŖš¼ we got goals to reach in 10 short weeks!
How do you stay on track when life gets crazy?
I donāt diet, I just eat good, balanced food. The moment I was able to feel this in my soul, prep got a lot easier.
Trust me, I love a good bowl of pastaā¦ but I LOVE how I feel when I keep it clean and simple. Do you ever wonder why we push these macronutrients? Here are some spark notes š
Protein: The one nutrient almost all can agree you need the most, it helps your body repair and make new cells. Hence, why it is important for muscle growth and retention.
Carbohydrates: You need them in some form to provide the body with glucose, which is converted to energy used to support bodily functions and physical activity.
Fat: Do some research on āgoodā vs ābadā fat. Personally, I keep fats low but that doesnāt mean theyāre eliminatedā¦ because they are necessary! Dietary fats are a source of energy, structural building blocks of the body, they carry certain vitamins and disperse them, and are vital for brain growth and development.
Fiber: Important to gut health, regular bowl movement (which I could do a post on the importance of this alone! š©), reduces the risk of chronic health conditions, keeps hunger and blood sugar in checkā¦ the list really goes on! Eat your veggies friends š„
ā ļø long post warning ā ļø
Was feeling really down this weekā¦ like if I hadnāt already paid for these competitions I was gonna drop out kind of down (which is why I usually pay super early š
keeps me committed)
With 3 kids under the age of 4 we have NOT been able to get away from illness this winter. On top of all other things that come with toddlersā¦ like sleepless nights, extreme emotions, tantrums, refusing to eat (when groceries are at an all time high š¬), sharing, taking them literally everywhere with me since I am a stay at home momā¦ and then my husband had the nerve to leave the country this week š (for work, I GUESS he had to)
And then I got on a google deep dive one night, asking the all knowing āwhy canāt I get leanāā¦ some answers that stood out were āyou donāt sleep enoughā or āyour stress is too highā and all I could think was ā¦ well Iām a mom, what exactly do you suggest to fix that!?
So then I got mad, and frustrated, and annoyed, and sadā¦ and ultimately down. Anyone else been there? Just being real with you guys. Motivation is NOT always going to be there.
But then I did a side by side. This is JUST 6 weeks. 6 weeks of intermittent family illness, crazy toddlers, lots of stressā¦ AND 6 weeks of meal prep, clean food, no alcohol, planned workouts, effort, check inās, focusā¦ I could go on!
THIS is why photos are important. THIS is why check inās are important. THIS is why consistency is greater than perfection. THIS is why commitment is greater than motivation.
If you have a bad day, a bad week, heck a bad monthā¦ or if youāre feeling down, unmotivated, discouragedā¦ donāt let it stop you. Find a way to get committed to something, so itās there for you when the motivation isnāt. Make sure to take the photos so when you canāt see or feel the daily changes you can look back 6 weeks and see how far youāve come šŖš¼
Moral of the storyā¦ donāt ask google, progress looks different for everyone, and YOU got this!

Eating well doesnāt have up be boring!
A new twist on the āmonths of the yearā š my 12 year glow up!
I was an athlete my whole life. But as a swimmer, I ate whatever I wantedā¦ whenever I wanted. I do not suggest this. One of my biggest regrets was not learning how to lift and eat for goals sooner. Iām left wondering how much better I could have been. This is probably why I still desire to compete in some arena! I want to know what I can do.
That saidā¦ I DO NOT have this physique naturally. I hear women say things about genetics and yes, that does play a role to an extent. But if you knew my family, youād know my āgeneticsā are stacked against me. We donāt put on muscle easily, much of my family is overweight, blood pressure, heart problems, diabetes and cancer run through both sidesā¦
I hear women talk about ābouncing backā like I didnāt work my ass off during pregnancy and post partum.
I hear women say āwell you donāt need to eat a saladā not knowing that the reason I function higher, sleep better, perform faster, get stronger and yesā¦ hold onto a physique I desireā¦ is BECAUSE I consciously choose the salad.
People donāt see the years of work that go into something. But donāt let this discourage you! Let this serve as a reason to keep going! Consistency is the most important rule to progress. There were moments and months of time in these past 12 years that were not ideal, not perfect, too much alcohol was consumed, too many grilled cheese sandwiches š and bowls of pasta! But that should never stop you from trying again tomorrow, making adjustments, and going after those goals.
Stay tuned for 2023 šŖš¼
Pro tip when travelingā¦ know where the microwaves are
Plazas on toll roads or truck stops usually have one!
Took a social media break for my own mental health and my family quality timeā¦ but I will be stepping slowly back into my business page because I do miss seeing others (and my own!) progress, I miss learning new tips and tricks from my friends and trusted influencers, and I of course want to continue to grow my clientele.
from show 1 of 2 for this year! Excited about the growthā¦ goals take time. Changing your composition takes time. Picture on the left is from 2014, before kids and before I really knew HOW to lift and nourish my body properly.
Fast forward to the picture on the right, 2023 š¤Æ
This is why I push progress photos so much, the scale may not move but your body IS changing. It just takes timeā¦ SO MUCH TIME. Be patient and trust your process, if you donāt see change over 3 months, tweak itā¦ but donāt change something that didnāt work in a week. Give it time and enjoy the process šŖš¼
